tv source for monday morning:
Swindon Town have sacked manager Kevin MacDonald (sunday night) after his poor run of results and loosing in the play offs. The club confirmed it was a only a short term deal until the end of the season.
Bookies favorites:
Kenny Jacket
Phil Brown (Southend)
Karl Robinson (MK Dons)
Ian Wright
Paul Dickov
Steve Lomas (St Johnstone)
Simon Greyson (Preston)
Danny Wilson
Dean Smith (Walsall)

Football has gone mad. In the play offs and sack the manager.

19 May 2013 20:04:31
Don't think this is true but I want it to be true as a stfc fan I want him out

Most likely Paul Dickov because the others are better than Swindon. The other managers already hold strong managerial positions

Huddersfield Town interested in Saint Johnstone right back Dave MacKay on a pre contract deal in the summer.

He has signed a deal to 2015, so if they want him they will be paying cash for him.

I wish town would stop looking at Scottish players, the majority of players from the SPL are League 1/2 standard at best!

The only guy out the SPL you have signed in Dixon, who has played most of your games this season. And done very well since you landed him for nothing. And even made the Scotland team. Plenty of players from the SPL. could walk into most championship teams. Most do well when they leave to go down there.

1 SPERONI
2 Mc Naughton
3 MURPHY
4 KISNORBO
5 BROADFOOT
6 COWIE
7 DOBBIE
8 BRYSON
9 McCormack
10 Aluko
11 CONWAY
12 MARSHALL
13 HOVIELT
14 SAMMON
15 McCABE
16 MAGUIRE
17 GREER
18 BURKE
19 S McDONALD
20 PEARSON promoted Derby

Think that would be a strong squad

We have actually also signed higginbotham, Wallace and woods and there not ronaldo, Messi and iniesta are they!

Rhodes? he was Scottish (not SPL but still Scottish) and was he any good?

11 May 2013 13:00:09
Wallace and Higgonbottom have never played in the SPL. You signed them from Falkirk in the first division. Young players what do you expect, still learning there trade. I mist Noel Hunt out to, who was with Dundee United. And went up last year with Reading.

Rhodes is Scottish by virtue of going to school in Scotland for a couple of years, he was born in Oldham, has no Scottish ancestors etc. we also signed Arfield to add to the list, just released him, not pulled any trees up either.

Rhodes was from ipswich, and only qual for scotland from his school days. wallace looks a good prospect, but remember we have just released arfield after costing 400,000 from falkirk.

We sent cads up there and then bought him backi believe or was that a loan?

10 May 2013 11:35:33
Carlisle are targeting Sam Johnstone, Manchester United's young keeper. Greg Abbott is hoping to take Johnstone on a season long loan as cover for Mark Gillespie.

He would give Gillespie a run for his money both would not belong at league 1 level.

Sounds reasonable as Greg admitted he was in talks with a premier league goalkeeper earlier this week

Gilespie needs a bit of competition can't see anyone else who would realistically give him better competition

09 May 2013 21:15:31
Ipswich moving for Murray Davidson the St Johnstone midfielder. Who Mick has been scouting and keeping a eye on since his time in charge at Wolves.

Torquay United Are In Talks With Two Managers:

Alan Knill
Paul Sturrock

Knill Is More Likely To Become The Gulls' New Manager As He Managed Them At The Back End Of Last Season. He Also Knows Most Of The Players And The Way They Like To Play So Is Thea Bristow's First Choice.

On The Other Hand, Paul Sturrock Had Mild Success At Southend United, Guiding Them To The Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final Last Season And Finishing 4th In League 2 In The 2011/2012 Season. Has Previously Worked With Craig Easton At Southend. Although, He May Not Be Wanted By Gulls Fans Due To His Plymouth Argyle Connections.

RM Shaks!

Knill would be an excellent choice. Stay clear of Sturrock, useless.

Alan Knill
is the new manager of torquay

Sturrock is a superb manager

Sturrock is a dinosaur, thank heavens he has left Southend.

23 Apr 2013 14:17:43
Ipswich goalkeeper Jason Brown is being linked with a summer move to league one side Walsall

Walsall do not have a first team goalkeeper at the club who will be with the midlands based outfit next season Current number one Sam Johnstone is on loan from man united after Grof and Walker both left the club earlier in the season. The back up keeper is a youth team keeper.

Phil Brown Is Due To Be Unveiled As Southend United's New Manager At Some Point Today.

The Former Bolton, Derby, Hull & Preston Boss Will Take Charge Of The Shrimpers' Next Two League Matches Against Bradford City & Fleetwood Town Respectively Before Handing The Managerial Reigns Back To Paul Sturrock For The Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final Against Crewe Alexandra.

Brown Will Use The Remaining League Matches To Analyse The Players He Has And To Decide Whether Anything Needs Changing Before The Start Of Next Season.

Then We Can Start Afresh And Hit The Ground Running At The Start Of The 2013/2014 Season.

A

Unlucky he take you down ,he bring in over hyped your going need it players on wages you can't afford .good luck

Hope that westley does go back to stevenage and take with him his cronies, foster bearsley, byrom,
mousinho, he can take I can play anywhere King with him as well, a player who is equally as bad wherever he plays.

Agree with everyone except King. He links play up well and is an intelligent player. He is taking unfair flack for lack of goals.

Paul Sturrock has done an incredible job at Southend! Unfortunately chairman and fans have delusions of grandeur. You will get what you deserve and Phil Brown will take you straight into the conference.

So when's the stadium going up?

Lets be fair king is poor, he is not a defender, not a midfielder and will never be a striker in a million years. that's why he was playing non league until 27, he can go, We need a striker x2, pope at port vale maybe

Couldn't be happier to see the back of Sturrock. Worst football I have ever seen played at Roots Hall. Couldn't handle the decent players and tactically naive for L2. Welcome Mr Brown, fingers crossed you can do a lot better.

Please please please stevenage reappoint westley so hev can take the garbage he bought at north end namely foster beardsley byrom king all conference level at best.

We will need bench warmers next seasons and King is a decent squad player, plus I'm assuming we don't pay him very much

I' hoping the above players' contracts are up at the end of the season, so getting rid is as easy as non-renewal?

20 Mar 2013 13:12:43
Walsall have signed Manchester United reserve goalkeeper Sam Johnstone on loan.

Can Walsall go in promotion play off? Did they have money for that or?

If they go up are key playerd will stay don't think walsalls got any money morand would havr to me debt

Could either of the 2 comment posters please explain what there post means

20 Feb 2013 16:56:39
Scottish Premier League side bottom club Dundee are still set to finalise the deal for former Chelsea, St Johnstone and Millwall midfielder Jody Morris despite sacking boss Barry Smith.

31 Jan 2013 20:21:58
Jody Morris has left Bristol City, st Johnstone are making a move to re- sign him

30 Jan 2013 16:53:14
Bradford City are set to announce the signing of Murray Davidson from St Johnstone after the two clubs agreed a transfer fee.

30 Jan 2013 20:18:27
Think you will find its bristol city not bradford city

28 Jan 2013 20:49:42
Huddersfield Town have narrowed down their shortlist to five names as they look to replace Simon Grayson.
Former Reading, Wolves, Millwall, Brighton and Motherwell manager Mark McGhee is one of the favourites to secure the role. The 55 year old has just been named Scotland assistant boss but wants to duel that with a full time role. Town are keen on bringing someone in with Championship experience.
Hearts manager John McGlynn is another Scot on the shortlist. The 51 year old has impressed chairman Dean Hoyle with limited funds and is expected to be backed if appointed boss.
St Johnstone manager Steve Lomas is wanting the job. Lomas has declared his desire to manage one day in England and has been linked with a number of Football League teams. The former Man City, West Ham and QPR midfielder will have his interview before the weekend.
A surprise name in the frame is Blackburn coach Gary Bowyer. Bowyer earned a lot of plaudits when he was caretaker at Rovers and will be interviewed by the Town board.
The final name expected to be on the shortlist is Fulham coach Kit Symons. The 41 year old is wanting his first full time management post and will be interviewed this week.

28 Jan 2013 23:32:07
this is total rubbish HTFC Chairman is not stupid not to be believed at all

One surprise name is Blackburn Coach???? Try 5 surprise names. None of these have any odds on them, nor are any anywhere near good enough!! Bizzare!!!

Its between Adkins and Coyle

I will refuse to watch Huddersfield if we sign any of these relatively unproven managers! We need a big name to bring in big players!

When did Huddersfield turn into Chelsea? Why don't you get Jose Mourinho in? They are perfectly believable managers

This post pretty much contradicts itself from the beginning. 'Town are keen on bringing someone in with Championship experience', then lists a number of 'shortlisted' candidates (with the exception of McGhee) with little to no Championship experience - especially in management!

Mark McGhee as manager has achieved promotion with Reading, Millwall and Brighton. He is the assistant manager of Scotland. I dread to think what Huddersfield fans think you have to do before you are a proven manager.

Never have I read such rubbish as the post above!

Perfectly believable rumours? Maybe if you're an outsider, but not to Town fans.

Grayson is a proven Championship manager!

McGee flopped at Bristol Rovers and would be a dreadful appointment. I can see merit in the five unknowns as they fit the bill of Dean Hoyle's vision of bringing in and developing younger players, as was that of Lee Clark. The difference with Lee Clark is that his task was to get us out of League 1 whereas the task of the new manager is to keep us in the Championship.

29 Jan 2013 18:48:22
TOWN might not be Chelsea but we, are not mugs and we won't employ just anybody fact.

"I will refuse to watch Huddersfield if we sign any of these relatively unproven managers! We need a big name to bring in big players!"
If you was a true Town fan you would watch them no matter what, support the team even if you don't support the manager

"we need a big name manager who will bring in big name players" .......just like Portsmouth did and look where they are now.
Get real, Dean will work within a budget that has already been set. His wealth is NOT a bottomless pit to be used at HTFC

25 Jan 2013 18:16:42
I am a big St Johnstone fan and i'm gutted to report that Ipswich have had a bid accepted for Nigel Hasselbaink and Liam Craig. The bid is said to be about £400k and they'll both leave before the end of the window. Ipswich midfielder Josh Carson is coming here on loan as part of the deal.

Apparently they will be having medicals at Ipswich on Sunday with contracts already agreed.

We will need to replace the goals Hasselbaink provided and the Lomas will likely look to division one or the English league 1 for a replacement.

Did Liam Craig not agree per contract with Hibs ?

Liam craig has alread signed a pre contract with hibs and joins up in the summer so can't see that happening

Liam Craig has signed a pre-contract with Hibs about a week ago.

26 Jan 2013 07:15:46
Liam craig signed pre contract with hibernian and st johnstone about to go bust so doubt lomas will raid anywhere.

25 Jan 2013 16:19:03
Since the release of craig beattie from st johnstone, the striker has had an unsuccessful time on trial with notts county & another un-named league two club, john sheridan (plymouth manager) is rumoured too be interested in the ex-scottish international striker & has offered a pay-cut contract too land the out-of-favour striker till the end of the season

Beattie is in Aberdeen having talks today but whether we will be able to offer him a lucrative contract will be seen but as a dons fan I hope he goes elsewhere..

24 Jan 2013 23:34:43
FORMER Scotland international striker Craig Beattie has left St Johnstone following a disappointing spell, he is being linked with a trial with league one side Walsall
Beattie had a trial at league one side Notts County but was not offered a contract due to fitness concerns

If he is linked with walsall could this mean Will Grigg going to derby?

The guy is really unfit and needs several weeks to try to get back to fitness. Even fully fit he isn't prolific and has never been.

20 Jan 2013 18:42:12
Jody Morris is expected to re-sign for St Johnstone this week

He was quoted in saying he wishes to return to perth

14 Jan 2013 18:25:35
St Johnstone manager Steve Lomas has been told he has the funds to bring in one player in January and is considering trialists Gordon Muir and John Hamilton this week.

14 Jan 2013 09:38:38
Manchester United GK Sam Johnstone to go on-loan to Oxford United.
Max Crocombe to go on-loan to Woking.

13 Jan 2013 23:35:28
St Johnstone manager Steve Lomas has told midfielder Murray Davidson to either sign a new contract at the club or leave. Lomas is rumoured to be sick of talk being banded about around the situation of the possibility that the 24 year old could leave the club.
One club who are ready to make a bid is Blackburn Rovers. New boss Michael Appleton is keen on new recruits and feels the Scottish international would benefit playing at Ewood Park.

12 Jan 2013 19:59:55
Gary johnstone returning as new bristol city manager.

Ha ha. You mean JOHNSON, and no he's not!

12 Jan 2013 16:08:34
Gary Johnson is targeting a loan move for Sam Johnstone who is surplus to requirements at Manchester United at the moment, should a substantial offer for in form keeper Marek Stech come in from a championship club. George Saville of Chelsea is also a sought after by a host of League One clubs, but it is unlikely that he will come to Yeovil over a London-based club.
Berty, YTFC season ticket holder since 1999

Would absoluety love it if george Saville came to Yeoo! Class young midfielder!

Yeovil have signed Joe Edwards for an undisclosed fee from Bristol City. He has put pen to paper on an 18 month contract.

12 Jan 2013 14:03:52
Jody Morris is to go back to St Johnstone after falling out of favour at Bristol City

Was he ever in favour?

Can the rest of the squad that are not in favour go with him and take DMc on your way out.

Good take mcinness wid u

12 Jan 2013 18:17:47
Take that useless mcwinless back with Jody for the sake of my beloved club.

12 Jan 2013 21:02:10
I saw Craig levin at Ashton gate today
Anyone know why he was there

Mcinness gone at last get it right this time city board your killing a good club by going cheap!!!
O'dricoll for me

Craig Levein was there yesterday because he's an ex-Leicester Manager and still loves the club. As he doesn't have a job he goes to as many Leicester games as he can!

According to the city website Craig Levine has been at Ashton gate this week helping Mcinnes with coaching ( that worked well ) ! And it said that he drove Mcinnes back to Scotland after he was sacked. I wonder how our new midfielder Kelly feels after sighning on Friday ?

11 Jan 2013 09:50:51
Swap Deal Marvin Elliott plus cash to St Johnstone in exchange for Murray Davidson heading to Bristol City

11 Jan 2013 12:42:36
DONT IMAGINE THAT'S GONA HAPPEN AT ALL

Would be like part ex a donkey for a horse - great if it happened

Murray davidson is coming to bristol city. the player being swapped is jody morris as he isnt settled. will be a short contract though

Jody morris is what i heard. He wants to go st johnstone again

Morris is only at City as a coach for next season...

10 Jan 2013 01:57:35
The main favourites for the managers job at Doncaster are mark robins and Steve lomas. Also heard David holdsworth has an outside chance too. I'd be happy with Steve lomas as he has done well with st. Johnstone and comes highly recommended by Harry redknapp.

Im not convinced about Lomas. Derek McInnes was manager at St Johnstone before Lomas and MnInnes record there was significantly better than Lomas. Lomas inherited a team who had been doing really well and since he took over they have done OK but lost more games than they have won. Plus McInnes hasnt exactly shone at Bristol City...

01 Jan 2013 13:43:17
Is Ivan sproule moving to st Johnstone

31 Dec 2012 11:35:00
Burton Albion to lose key players in January market:

Zola to Cardiff City - scout confirmed on Saturday (although Rotherham are definitely interested)

Billy Kee to Crawley Town - 450K will not be turned down.

Matt Paterson to Notts County or Bournemouth both been tracking him since he left Southend.

Jacques Maghoma to either Peterborough or Ipswich fee in the region of 320k

Zander Diamond wanted by a host of teams including St Mirren and St Johnstone in Scotland and Rochdale, Bury and Oldham.

More to follow.

Zander will not go to Oldham they released him in the summer

Paterson came through the AFCB youth system while Howe was still playing so might be a connection....but don't think AFCB are looking for a striker in Jan.
Did he not also sign an extended contract in Oct to the end of the season?
If EH thinks he has potential then a deal with loan back might be done.

Crawley have't got 450k to spend

What a load of bo****ks

Saw the Cardiff scout at the Pirelli on Saturday so maybe something in this. Billy Kee has just signed a 3 year deal so difficult to see him leaving. Paterson looks quality when not injured so maybe. Mags is on fire so another maybe. Diamond I think might end up in Scotland so another maybe!

We got rid of Diamond as his wage demands was a joke so we said cheerio and league 2 he went. he's not that good anyway makes too many mistakes. MVOTO and BYRNE much better centre halfs. {Ed039's Note - Zander Diamond is a terrible footballer IMO)

Note to Ed - Diamond has been outstanding this season for Albion - POTY so far!

Zanders been our player of the season so far...oldhams loss is our gain

Nope not going posh the wage is too big!

Heard this sort of talk before and very rarely is any of it right. stick with us lads. COME ON YOU BREWERS!!!!

You can have Diamond he can't lace Mvoto's boots or Byrnes. How many REDS has he had or even yellows this season and like his mess ups on the FLS. He;'s a poor player and came for a poor SPL. Scottish football is dire and so is he, too many mistakes.

Not put a foot wrong all season pal

Rotherham will only buy players that improve the team Zola is no better than what we've already got, so your rumour is a none starter

Rotherham have already tabled an offer for Zola - he is far better than anyone you currently have. That said, he is not going anywhere, the Burton chairman has confirmed this!

Oldham fan here, Zander Diamond one of the worst centre halves i've seen in an oldham shirt (and that includes guy branston) enjoy him Burton!

Understand he didn't play well for you at Oldham, but this season, Diamond has been exceptional. He is a ball winning defender who has yet to put a foot wrong, brilliant signing for Burton - Rowett, so far has got it right with Diamond/Holness/O'Connor/Paterson/Tomlinson/McCrory all coming in and playing really, really well - we are a club building and we are on the up. Up the Brewers :)

Exactly and thats why DIAMOND had so much lack of interest when we let him go, league 2 level only not good enough for the step.

league 2 is boring and lacks quality players.

Think you will find Justin Richards, Plamer and Clev Taylor will all be out on loan well before Zola/Kee/Paterson.

07 Jan 2013 01:00:51
stock will not be returning, I spoke to Stocky last transfer window and he wanted to come back then but no interest was shown. he is starting to get towards the end of his playing career too.
great bloke and a great player tho.

Zander Diamond has been brilliant all season for us. Sometimes players are awful at one club and superb at their next. That's football. He looks like a league 1 or Championship player this season.

29 Dec 2012 17:28:22
Hull set to sign Johnstone from man u on a loan deal for the rest of the season and also set to sign federico machida in a bid believed to be around 1.5 million

Thought you couldn't have two players on loan at your club from the same club? (Ben Amos) {Ed003's Note - that's just the Prem I believe}

Hull has already got two players from united on loan Robbie Brady and Ben Amos

Macheda has already stated his desire to either stay in the PL or head back to Italy.

Hull had 3 lonees from Man U last season

Rangers Newco to take advantage of Pompey's dire situation and petition the Football League for membership. Obviously a long way to go and there is no telling if the majority of the teams will accept Rangers' application.

The Rangers' fans and adminsitration would prefer this option as the SFA initiated transfer embargo will be automatically lifted, and the club will be in a better position going forward financially if they were to take part in the English League set up. Unconfirmed reports suggest Rangers' fans would prefer this too as they might actually get to see decent opposition play against them and for the the increase in revenue for playing in the more prestigious League One (with appearances in the much-coveted Johnstone's Paint Trophy).

Watch this space!

Bristol City News

Expect Mark Wilson and Heaton to sign by Thursday this week.

Buzsacky still choosing between City and Forest. Wants guaranteed first team football which he would get at City and was impressed with McInnes. Still looking like City are favourites.

Fee is agreed between Swansea and Bristol City for Albert Adomah. The ex Barnet winger will go for 3 Million pounds. The extra clause in the deal is that Swansea have to pay Bristol Rovers' asking price for Mustapha Carayol as a replacement. Could be between 4-600,000. Carayol and Adomah have agreed respective terms. Up to Swansea now.

City did enquire about Leroy Lita and Dobbie in the deal - but nothing happened.

City have enquired about Harry Kane on loan as well as Matty Fryatt. Sandanza at St Johnstone was looked at but McInnes wants to prioritise a nippy poacher in the Maynard mould.

Craig Gordon talks stalled as he has many options available to him. Not dead in the water.

Advanced talks have taken place for Murray Davidson (St. Johnstone), Marian Kello (Free), and Danny Grainger (Hearts), while McInnes continues to monitor the situation with Kyle Laffery (Rangers), Simon Cox (WBA)and George Boyd (Peterborough).

what the donald duck is goin on at rangers jus now? first we cant afford a st johnstone player and now we cant offer an estonian defender who is a free agent a contract...hes been playing in NORWAY ffs how much would he be askin for?...5grand a week max? Even better we hav given a trial to a bosnian striker who has scored 48 goals in 216 club appearances in his entire career...thats less than a goal every 4 games..he also hasnt played since last may because no other club wants him...its got egil ostenstad written all over it! Big jelavic will probz be sold next monday or tuesday an craig whyte will use the old 'we never had enuf time to replace him' excuse. it looks like we are stuck with this lying crook for the long haul fellow bears...dark days ahead.

He has a half decent strike rate at international level. My Greek mates say he is a good at making them.At least he is a international,un like the St Johnstone bloke.Who would be off to play in Italy or Greace if he could.Like Musliminovic has done. Also Norway pays better wages than the SPL clubs. You would know that if you had a clue. The game over there has been on the up for years. So we have no devine rights on players. And Leeds want Jaager, and they are a big club to.Even if they are just playing in the championship just now.So the fella has to make up his mind.If winning means a lot to him,and playing in Europe. He will decide Glasgow is the right move for him.Ally

Could Dundee Utd be following the path of Arsenal and Man Utd and going back to the future?

They are keen on former defender David McCracken who is having a good season at St Johnstone. One problem is that he has a season and a half on his contract and Utd are in no position to pay a fee. A swap deal however could be on the cards with Saints being offered their choice of 3 Tannadice men.

Another former player, Mark Kerr, is also under consideration though unlikely before the summer. Kerr is likely to sign a short term deal elsewhere where Utd will monitor his progress before swooping at the end of the season if all goes well.

Everyone saying Francisco Sandaza is in pre contract talks is false as he claims he has no interest in pre-contract agreements and thinks clubs should make St Johnstone an offer if they want him.
