I would like to clear up the Christian benteke situation that he has been misquoted.

"But if Arsenal did come knocking, are you prepared to battle it out with Villa?

"No. It wouldn't help anyone to start a battle with Villa. Anyway, I do not think I would need to. If the opportunity does arise, I'm sure that we could come to some sort of compromise that would benefit everyone. But I do not have any problem at all staying at Aston Villa for another season. I feel really good here, and they have a lot of faith in me. ""
these are the correct translations!

24 May 2013 18:55:40
Hi Ed, any news on who you think Harry Forrester will sign for- Ipswich, Blackburn, Aston Villa, Middleborough?

Blackburn better not beat other teams to the signing of another free agent from the lower leagues. Same thing happened with Judge and that Pompey keeper. How can we compete with relegated teams that can pay ridiculous wages for players.

I wouldn't have thought that Harry forrester is premiership material quite yet so personally I would cancel out Aston villa :)

Aston Villa will offer former striker Dwight Yorke the vacant role coaching the clubs academy players

23 May 2013 19:25:43
Arsenal are looking to sign Matthew Lowton from Aston Villa. The RB was one of Villa's top performers last season and is high on the shopping list of many top clubs

Deserves a move to a big club good player

Lambert has said that lowton is not leaving villa this summer & he is discussing a new contract on increasing wages.

23 May 2013 13:27:46
After the recent departure or Richard Dunne at Aston Villa, rumours had it that Eddie Howe was very interested so he could offload Miles Addison. Yesterday I was going to the legends cafe which is a cafe at the Bournemouth ground and I saw him walk into Dean Court with Eddie Mitchell. This may not mean that he will sign but I think that they must be in negotiations taking place.

I saw him down there also today around 1:00

A few people have told me he was seem down there but can't see it happening as he doesn't meet Eddie Howe's player profile of young players with a sell on value.

Paterson to Coventry. You are having a laugh!!

22 May 2013 21:33:54
Is this just the west mids, I always thought the midlands involved all of it not just the brummies!

No way Norwich will buy two central defs. We have three quality CB's in Turner, Bassong & Bennett. All three are better than Ridgewell & C. Davies.

Grigg's not going anywhere

Ridgewells a left back.
And west brom will bring in more players than that!

Weimann has announced he's in contract talks with Villa & wants to stay if possible.

Weather we go up or stay down. Deeney is not leaving. Just signed a new contract and is an important building block.

Watford do not need the money like they used to.

Norwich in the market for French under 212 international Mangala of Porto - seen as the perfect player to combine with Bennett in the future - Centre back and can cover left back position too

Troy deeney will not leave watford

How can someone know so much about so many different clubs. Pure fantasy imo

O'Hara was sold by Harry Redknapp while he was at Spurs, why would he take him back? QPR's squad is bursting with championship quality players.

As a norwich fan I would take ridgewell all day. Competition at left back ANC can cover at centre half

Deeney wouldn't go there mate, he's a birmingham fan and is happy at watford, just signed new contract

Wolves are in talks with Swindon to sign James collins, Swindons top scorer

If Deeney goes I'd expect Watford to get someone in on loan! lol

Ridgewell is a left back and is much better quality than anything at Norwich.

Lol at Paterson going to Coventry that will never happen. Grigg to derby could happen but he's still needs to prove himself at league one level for another season. Also brandy since he's only played for half a season

No folks, looks as though pattersons going to Huuds How good is he?

King would not be welcome back at Wigan bearing in mind that Whelan sacked him and effectively told him to never darken his doorstep again

Deeney tweeted not to long ago saying he wouldn't play for villa

massive birmingham fan and just signed a new contract with watford

Ridgewell is awful. No point as we have just signed Garrido after his loan spell and he is miles better than Ridgewell

Huddersfield are after paterson he could go to cov as he is a cov fan and from there

22 May 2013 20:02:04
Aston Villa centre-back Richard Dunne, 33, is set to be released on a free transfer by manager Paul Lambert. It is believed newly promoted Hull City have offered him a 35,000 a week 1 year deal with a further 1 year extension if they stay in the Premier League.

Do they really need him

22 May 2013 21:16:44
Another past it overpaid donkey that all you Premier League 'footy' fans keep trying to palm off on little old Hull. Just waiting for the Andy Johnson, Shola Ameobi and Shay Given rumours

23 May 2013 03:06:34
Overpaid donkey? Bit harsh considering he's got more international caps than the whole of the hull squad and Steve Bruce

spionkop

Not being funny but i'd take Dunne at City! good defender!

Dunne would be a good freebie. As would Figueroa. One year deals for either of those 2 would be a great bit of business.
I'd be worried about any "survival clauses" as if we stay up next term we'll need to push on with permenant solutions rather than stop gaps like a (by then) 34 year old Dunne.

Hull to offer 35K? Doubt they would offer over 30K but not to Dunne. Just because he has more caps than existing Hull city players does not mean he is a good player. Using that logic the best players in the world would be from San Marino etc.

I agree with the logic comment, that would mean the best player ever by a country mile was Krisyten Lilley of the USA who has over 250 caps. USA men and women's teams also have the most capped players who have 100 caps or more. Not sure about the women's team but the men's team has not come close to winning the world cup!

22 May 2013 17:33:16
Aston Villa's versatile Chris Herd linked with a move to Middlesbrough.

He can leave, we don't need players of his ability

Unless he can score goals, he ain't touching the boro squad

You have Joe Bennett, twice as poor.

22 May 2013 16:40:15
Middlesbrough are interested in Aston Villa midfielder Chris Herd.

22 May 2013 09:09:28
The only likely player to be leaving Brentford is Harry Forrester with Aston Villa or Ipswich his likely destination.

Come on Ipswich. Pull one out of the bag.

He isn't going to ipswich

22 May 2013 14:13:30
I think Brentford will do well to keep hold of Harlee Dean - a few Championship vultures are circling after the play-off defeat.

Please please please come to Ipswich

Whoever goes for Harlee Dean will have to give us some big money as still contracted.

21 May 2013 18:53:20
Brighton are set to sign Richard Dunne and Stephen Ireland from Aston Villa.

Recently released Gary Dicker and Marcos Painter are set to sign for Bournemouth.

21 May 2013 20:04:16
we are not signing Marcos Painter or Gary Dicker, we are a championship side now. Painter played 2 matches for us and was soo bad we sent him back when we even needed a LB, Eddie will not want him!

Haha painter! He flopped massively at Bournemouth so can't see it. A footballer he is not

We loaned in Painter and two weeks later we got rid

Painter did decent for us (Brighton), was playing injured at Bournemouth and hadn't played in months. Painter is more than good enough for a mid table championship side and would be good enough for a team pushing for the prem if he had pace. Gary Dicker was very unlucky to be released also, would no doubt walk into the Bournemouth team

22 May 2013 00:58:40
if Brighton could afford the wages for Dunne and Ireland then automatic promotion could be on the cards for the seagulls, a gamble but a tempting one.

We're not set to sign anyone until the whole managerial mess gets sorted out. Highly doubt we would be able to afford Dunne or Irelands wages in any case.

Painter didn't get sent back. He was recalled by Brighton when Wayne Bridge got injured.

Please take Ireland & Dunne.
They are paid ridiculous amounts & are either always injured or are lazy or don't even get into the team.

We couldn't afford his wages

21 May 2013 15:35:59
spurs are interested in signing a lot of players to make up for bale seeming to be on his way to man united they are interested in benteke from aston villa aswell aswell as villa from Barcelona and also loic remy as well as damiao aswell as jose callejon from Madrid they are also intrested in two new centre backs hummels and skertel from Liverpool also Javier hernandez from man united getting rid of adeybayor and also with Ashley cole on his way to man united means evra is on his way to spurs as Chelsea are trying to promote Bertrand as first choice tom ince, eriksen, luke shaw, McCarthy wigan, wanyama from celtic, matej vydra, Osvaldo and finally son heung min from hamburg these will be the players in the players out are bale, adebayor and dembele

Congratulations on writing the longest sentence ever managed.

Just too much rubbish there to know where to start, first Bale is signing a new contract and will not be moving this summer and suffice to say half those names mentioned as targets are simply not

The longest and most un-realistic sentence!

Much love

Bale has signed a new deal & Benteke is close to signing a new aston villa deal its said.

Really Can not see any of them happening I mean Ashley cole to man united really mate there's more chance of joe bennet going to Man U

21 May 2013 14:54:14
Norwich are extremely interested in signing Wigan winger Callum McManaman and are preparing to battle against other teams such as Fulham, Swansea and Aston Villa.

Source: Member of staff at club

I've heard this as well!

Hes out for 3 months, no team will buy him untill january.

21 May 2013 16:38:04
On the contrary, Norwich have a history of taking on players while injured. It is clear the boy is talented and if it means that we have to sign him while injured to make sure that we get in ahead of our rivals we have shown we are willing. Pilkington had a broken leg when we signed him and missed a similar amount of time before making his debut for us.

I' like to see this happen.

I would take this signing every day of the week

I live in Reading, one of my friends is good friends with David Mcnally and lives near him when he stays in Reading, I am aware that Norwich are interested in a Wigan player, i'm guessing that it is McManaman

Hope its true good player very good player its what we need

Would be a good signing for Norwich. Norwich have no issues in signing injured players. For good reason.

1. The fact that they are injured can influence the price downwards.
2. The selling team is already starting to set up to play without him and is adjusted to the loss already.
3. There is less disruption to the team the injured player joins as he is not an immediate threat to anyone's place.
4. It is a bit of an ego boost for the player who despite the frustration of being injured is clearly wanted nonetheless.

Good prospect still got a bit to prove and would have a stupid price tag

The price may depend on the contract the player has i. e. release clauses in the case of relegation. If his agent has done his job properly then the price should not be unreasonable. The lad deserves to play prem football and he isn't going to improve himself in the Championship.

Sounds great, just hope it's true.

McManaman to Norwich?. get real. There are big clubs looking at this boy.

Hope we get him as would be a good stepping stone too the top the way he was playing at the end of last season

They may well be looking at him but will they give him games?

Scott Sinclair took an offer from a big club and look what happened.

Bye bye playing career. Hello seat.

What are you going on about? Sinclair went to the Champions of England. Are you seriously comparing Norwich to Man City by using the word "Big Club". Unbelievable

20 May 2013 23:00:18
Hi all,

My uncle works at Portman Road and he told me Aston Villa have come back in for Aaron Cresswell now they are safe. They looked at him last summer and were linked with a £3.5m move which never came off. He is going to Villa to negotiate a £2.5m move which could be worth more if he establishes himself as a first teamer.

I have no idea why the fee has gone down. He has had a decent season!

I also heard that Ipswich rejected a £500,000 offer for centre back Tommy Smith from Fulham.

21 May 2013 14:15:59
Ipswich would need to get as high a fee as they possibly can as 20% of it has to go to Tranmere as part of the deal imposed by a tribunal when then player moved to ITFC. So anything less than 2.5m would probably leave Ipswich feeling short changed.

Thats all rubbish! {Ed016's Note - Ipswich will not take anything less than about 3 million for Cresswell, they are in no need to sell}

20 May 2013 14:13:06
West Brom to rival Aston Villa for Charlie Austin.

Definately no West Brom interest. They are looking abroad at strikers

Not for wba

19 May 2013 12:25:49
Charlton releasing all their strikers to gain funds and the boards approval to make a shock signing for club legend Darren Bent, after he has fallen out of favour at Aston Villa.

JonesJunioor

Much as I hope we don't sign him Fulham are interested and I think I remember seeing him linked to other premier league teams so why would he join Charlton?

ffc1987

Bent will never go back to the Championship. He is far too good to be playing so low.

Nope, can't see this happening as bent has had interest from Fulham I think and why would we release kemorgant who has been our main man in the last two seasons along with Jackson and solly

Would be a dream come true yann and bent

Sounds about right. Benty would be great for Fulham, his goals could help keep them up.

19 May 2013 08:41:20
Norwich looking into the signature of Aston Villa striker Darren Bent

Not happening

ex ipswich player

Hope not

That would be a great signing if Hughton could get him scoring like he did at Sunderland but not sure we could afford him as well as Wolfswinkel - would probably cost about 8-10m

You can't afford his wages, he's better of at a young progressive team like villa

Ummm, I think not.

Please take him!
Aspas is the new Villa #9

Lol maybe to signature a football to sell for charity norwich don't buy overpaid overrated underplayed lazy players

Dont want him

To expensive wages

Hes the Villa equivalent of Zigic at blues. No thanks, just a drain on the clubs resources.

17 May 2013 18:57:26
Swindon Town interested in 5 players at the moment. Kevin MacDonald wants his targets in early ready for pre season.

Curtis Obeng - Swansea
Jordan Bowery - Aston Villa
Daniel Johnson - Aston Villa
Korey Smith - Norwich
Nahki Wells - Bradford

From a very reliable source who told me at Christmas Matt Ritchie was going to join Bournemouth in the new year and it happened. Watch this space.

This would be good if true all very talented young players hope kev mac can make this happen

You'd probably be loaning out the Villa ones

Swindon have no money so wells will not be joining

Korey is an excellent player. Swindon would do well to get him in.

17 May 2013 13:41:04
Everton are wanting to make Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert their new manager in the summer on a three year contract. Chairman Bill Kenwright believes Lambert has the right beliefs as a boss, believing in the younger generation as the Goodison Park club don't have lost of money to spend.

This may well be very true, but he wouldn't leave villa after what he has done so far, with the threat of moyes taking the best players with him to man united lambert will stay with villa

Why would Lambert want to leave Villa for a team which is in probably a worse situation in terms of off the pitch.

17 May 2013 12:18:21
Luke Murphy to sign for Aston Villa this summer. The clubs have recently agreed a pre-season fixture which will take place on the 26th July. As part of the deal, Crewe will take 19 year old Striker Graham Burke on loan.

The friendly was arranged because of the Westwood deal but Villa definately looking at Murphy

16 May 2013 22:37:22
Borussia Dortmund have taken an interest in Aston Villa's Christian Benteke

afcb1

Yet, benteke wants to stay at Villa on a new 4 year deal with extended wages taking him upto £50k p/w
Give Benteke another year and he'll be the hottest property in Europe - £30-40m!

Or he could do rubbish next season and be worth nothing or break a leg or maybe 2 it's a gamble.

Also love how villa fans think he's worth 25m+ when players like jelvotic Neymar falco are all good for 20-30m benteke if he performs well next season will be 12-15m might even get that this year.

Jovetevic is 25 Falcao 28+ Benteke is 22 so in the short career that a top striker has the age is a significant element in pricing him. Still 18-22m is more realistic and that depends on who wants him and how bad. Significantly Beneteke is good enough to play Champions League and that is his next step.

16 May 2013 10:17:35
Hull City looking at the following players - El Mohamady (sunderland), Jordan Rhodes (blackburn), Callum Macmanaman (wigan), Darren Bent (aston villa), Nick Powell (loan - Man Utd), Kevin Doyle (wolves), Danny Simpson (newcastle), Kasper Schemichle (cant spell, Leicster),

Macmanaman and Bent are NOT coming to Hull.

Seriously, the money that Bent would want just reeks of Bullard!

Macmanaman is on the up and will get snapped up by a solid mid-table side.

The rest are believable but we won't get all of them. Rhodes OR Doyle, not both.

Bent had a falling out with Bruce at Sunderland, that's why he moved to Villa, absolutley no chance of him going to Hull. Fact.

Kasper will not leave Leicester as hull can't pay that high wage. get a grip

No way hull will get rhodes they couldn't afford him

19 May 2013 19:22:32
Blackburn want 15 million for Rhodes, according to sunday paper.
hope so means another 1.5 million for hudds town. (20%sell on profit or 3 million if on transfer
,
I think 1st option will be right.

15 May 2013 22:37:32
Due to Blackburn Rovers' spiralling wage expenditure, they are ready to offload many top earning players.

Jordan Rhodes will be the first to leave, with Aston Villa, Hull City and West Ham interested. All three interested teams will look to spend £4m which Blackburn have already said will suffice.

Birmingham City defender Curtis Davies will be a Hull City player within the next fortnight, with a deal being discussed right now.

Manchester United youngster Nick Powell, signed from Crewe Alexandra, is desperate for first team football and will be loaned out to either Hull City or Cardiff City to help boost their attacking options to help stay in the English Premier League.

Newcastle United are looking to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang to play alongside Papiss Cisse to improve this Seasons awful finish.

Middlesbrough are looking to sign Hull City skipper Robert Koren who is thought to fall surplus to requirements at the KC Stadium following Promotion to the top flight. Tony Mowbray is keen to reunite the Slovenian talisman after a successful history when together at West Bromich Albion.

Newcastle right-back Danny Simpson has fallen out of favour at St. James's Park following the signing of Matthieu Debuchy and will be either a Stoke, Hull City or West Ham player next Season after his contract expires.

Your joking with Rhodes, 8 million when bought last season, 30 goals this season in a poor Blackburn season and you think they will take a 4 million hit, what planet you on.
$ million i'd take him straight back to Town with a bonus 4 million in the bank.

If Rhodes is on as much money as is thought (£45k pw) I would imagine that we (Hull) will be priced out of the move. of the clubs listed, I would imagine Villa would be his best bet. Austin or LeFondre are more realistic options for us.

Curtis Davies I think would be a great bit of business for us, very experienced and quite consitent too. £2-3mil well spent if the rumours are true.

Powell on loan would be great, especially if Koren goes to Boro as is suggested here.

Simpson would be a good signing for us. Is he really out of contract this year? I would have thought Newcastle would have had that covered as he is surely worth a couple of million. Not the biggest hit ever but every club could do with pocketing £2-3mil for a fringe player. I suppose the real question is, how much better than Rosenior is he?

He may have a point though. Blackburn had an awful Season, and almost went down with Wolves. If the whole team is underperforming and they need to improve, getting rid of the more expensive players would definitely make the most sense. Steve Agnew (Hull City Assistant Manager) is Jordan Rhodes' uncle; room for optimism from a Hull City perspective.

Steve Agnew is Rhodes uncle and I think that might be the reason for getting him cheap

Blackburn won't give a toss if Agnew is his Uncle. If Rovers are looking to trim their wage bill, Rhodes would free up nearly £2.5mil a year. If he's got, say, 3 years left (don't know just a guess) that £7.5mil saved. that's the reason Rhodes would be available for as little as £4mil.

Robert koren would be a good singing

Rhodes was initially on his way to boor in the summer but it fell through when boro couldn't offload emnes for their asking price

Luke williams and Main will be staying in the first team, I can only see Jones going to Hartlepoole as he said he wants him to go on loan.

15 May 2013 12:11:48
Bill gates is set to take over at Aston Villa. he loves the premier league and is good friends with current owner randy lerner, lerner won't leave they will just have a 50% stake each

15 May 2013 12:29:34
Callum McManaman is the latest big topic in transfers. He is subject to interest from many Premiership clubs including Aston Villa, West Brom, Everton and Liverpool. His form has seen his value increase so bids will be in the region of £4-£9m

Bit of a gap between £4 and £9 million isn't there?

Redbird

West brom won't sign him, I rate him but I can rule my team out of the race, to much and not proven, if were spending big it will be on bony or mbokani

WBA never spend big!
they'll sign another loaned player, bent?

^^ true but having not signed anyone in january and with this awful run of form atm I really think we will have to spend this summer. Hopefully mbokani or bony

15 May 2013 10:44:07
Hull City manager Steve Bruce is lining up a bid for Aston Villa striker Darren Bent. Bruce is in need of a forward and sees the former Ipswich and Charlton hitman to be the solution.

Will never sign bent. had a big row while at sunderland

No way will bruce let bent near his daughter again so that's a no no

14 May 2013 12:17:22
Stoke will look to Bring in Aston Villa Midfielder Charles N'zogbia for £5million during this summer transfer window

Make it £7mil and I reckon you might have a deal. Would rather he left the country though-i don't like having ex players come back to haunt us!

£5m? you're having a laugh! £8-9m

You seriosly think he's worth more than 5m, he's currently on your bench rotting away. I'd hope to pay 4m at the very most, if he can't get in the villa team then we wouldn't really be improving ours would we?
