Rafa is not looking to transform his squad in January, but simply to cover some ares of weakness and also ensure the signing of Mascherano. Expect a move for Garay to cover centre back and possibly a creative midfielder. It will not be Nasri or Benzema as they are far too expensive. Rafa has been 'encouraged' by Hicks and Gillett to fund transfers through sales. Likely 'outs' are Carson (Villa), Sissoko (Juve or Inter) and Crouch (Manchester City). Crouch is unhappy and Babel is convincing Rafa he can fill that gap. Riise will not leave in January

Rafa will not be allowed to sign any players in January. Rafas Managerial skills to be tested until end of Season, if he has not brought some silverware to Anfield then he will be replaced. Martin O'Neill to be approached. thus the new Manager will be given an enlarged transfer kitty to add his own type of player to the team.

I have heard from a friend who works in admin inside Ibrox that the wheels are in motion to move Cousin to Newcastle with Viduka coming the other way. (not sure about the money involved).
Celtic still looking into buying Hinkel from Sevilla, the initial six month loan move was turned down, however Celtic still looking into buying him permenatly as defensive worries increase.
Celtic also looking into taking Lucarelli on loan for six months from Shaktar Donetsk, although wages may prove to be a problem.

Regarding a previous post from the guy who 'works at the Edinburgh Evening Rumours'. Hearts are looking at a guy who plays for Luton Town named Jackson. Also looking at a young Australian player by the name Jackson. The JTs are looking for a new keeper– one for the English Championship is a real possibility. The Deek Riorden thing will not happen, he would come by all accounts but Shelltick will not sell him to us. I have heard on authority that the Gow– from Rangers– deal is good to go in January. and a centre/right back from Aston Villa reserves is being discussed between the clubs.

RANGERS could pounce for James McFadden from Everton in the January window in a £3.75 million deal. Walter Smith see's him as the 'creative talent' that the team lacks at the moment.
In order to fund this move out will go Thomas Buffel, Brahim Hemdani and Daniel Cousin, this generating around £5 million.
Depending on the imminent return of Stevie Smith from a year out, a left back could also be a priority.
Kenny Miller is a possibility, but if anything happens there it will not be until the Summer.
