Nigel Adkins, Paul Dickov, Steve Kean, John Barnes and Keith Curle shortlisted for Huddersfield job. Hoyle will look at each.

Surely it's no contest. Adkins & Kean are only two that have managed at Championship level, and although Kean wasn't given any time and was under so much pressure, Adkins is clearly the better manager. Don't get me wrong Dickov & Curle are two good upcoming manager's but if Adkin's is available you'd take him if he was interested. Finally, can't see John Barnes coming back into management any time soon, if ever.

Aprt from Adkins and maybe Curle this is a very poor shortlist.

Watford are to sign Udinese loanees Matej Vydra and Almen Abdi on 5 year deals before the weekend with Troy Deeney's new contract being completed on return from the training camp in Spain. Ekstrand, Battochio and Geijo will enter talks next week and all are expected to complete the moves before the close of the window. Watford are also looking to offer Fitz Hall and Manuel Almunia new 2 year contracts with a selection of other players being moved on.

There's a lot of truth in this. Ekstrand will not be signing in this particular window though but maybe in the summer.

Hall and Almunia have been excellent, but will have their contracts looked at also in the summer.

Abdi, Battcchio, Bond, Deeney, Vydra & Pudil will all be committing themselves to the club in this window.

Yeah this sounds about right, watford are already back though, I think they were back this morning, also don't think watford will sign Geijo he's a class act not playing, would get into the 1st team of any other champ team

Surely Blackpool would appeal more to Adkins, and vice versa, Grayson and HTFC not required in this merry go round me thinks

Adkins is not going to take the first job that comes along and I can't see him looking at Huddersfield as a club he would want to join (cant see him comming to Pool either)

Villa, Newcastle, Leeds, Blackburn even Rangers will all be looking for managers by summer.

I'm not sure Blackpool would though. Southampton Have Had a Bid of 12.2million Accepted For Phillipe Coutinho from Inter Milan Southampton have beaten Liverpool to the signing but not sure whether Coutinho would want to play for the saints (really hope so COYR)

Saints been courting Coutinho for some time, have been plenty time for him to declare his lack of interest in a move to the club, nothing said. He stated he didn't want to move to Liverpool (who does?).....and he'd rather stay at inter. My understanding is that the player was at Espanyol with the new boss on loan, if Phillipe didn't want to work with him again, he would say so. I guess that saints and coutinho have been allowed to discuss terms and viability of move, otherwise a shrewd guy like Cortese wouldn't be even bidding for him.
I think that the fact Southampton have been chasing him, shows that Adkins departure was predetermined and transfer targets discussed Weeks ago with Mauricio.
My tip is Phillipe coutinho will make a substitutes debut at old Trafford on the 30th

Sorry to point this out to a fellow saints fan but this means as of yet we haven't won the race to get him. We haven't beaten anyone to signing him till he's signed and wearing a saints shirt.

My Dad works at club and he has heard that Warnock has offered Becchio for a fee of 2 million, apparently Becchio was impressed with our football at the KC And his preference is to stay up north.

He wants to leave the Football League, Hull will not be able to pay him the 25k a week wage he wants because of Financial Fair Play. The only reason GFH can't offer him more than 20k a week is the FIFA regulation. Move to Wigan or China more likely.

Surely his transfer request isn't to push for a move to a equal our lesser championship side, he's stated its a financially motivated move, implying that a move abroad or to.premier league would lead to the post rise he's looking for.
just guessing but a Swansea, Stoke, Sunderland, Norwich, Southampton maybe Celtic amongst the british clubs who may be potential suitors.
Abroad, who knows, perhaps Italy and Lazio or to athletic bilbao in Spain, both clubs looking for replacements this window.

Mackail-Smith is a Watford lad, but he's on the decline.

Moreover I suspect that Watford would prefer to pursue foreign targets and exploit their vast scouting network rather than sign an overrated and overpriced 28 year old

Why would we pay £3.5m for CMS? He's 28 and has found his level, an average championship striker at his peak not worth that money at all.

Is it me or do Watford fans believe they are far better than they really are! You're in 6th not 1st and any of the top 12 could go up with a good run. Most of the LOAN players you have are excellent but won't be there for ever.

Bradford are not looking for a keeper with in form Matt Duke and talented Jon McLaughlin already on the books. Doubt Robinson would need to drop into L2 anyway.

Derbyshire on wages of 16,000 a week so can't see that.

Schneiderlin won't be leaving for less than 10 million. I know he isn't valued that highly but his importance to the club's survival chances are worth considerably more to Southampton. Does that not make sense? A club which needs to retain its players to improve its chance to stay up shouldn't sell them for anything like a 'reasonable' price. That's how the market in football works. Clubs struggling should not be looking to offload anyone who is key to their team for really any price. Let alone something small like 4 million.

Why do arsenal always steal our talent? because the players they take from us are amazing and will end up playing for their national teams!

There's no way they would sell to a promotion rival, hurt our chances of promotion (and thus money for them)... and finally Brighton cannot afford Vydra who would realistically would cost £15m as we have no need for money or to sell. Even teams like Spurs who are linked with him stand little chance.

That is the biggest joke yet. Top six prem, slight possibility. He's contracted by Pozzo until 2014. Pozzos want Watford up for that's where the cash is at, so it would take 15-20m to lure him away, Brighton don't have that.

ive been reading a lot of over excited watford fans babbling on about 20million for this guy. The thing you all seem to overlook is that if he was really that good and worth 20m, why was he farmed out on loan to a then struggling championship side? why isn't he playing for Udinese who are languishing around mid table themselves. Pretty sure Francesco Guidolin would like a 20m striker right now on his books, seeing as they are struggling these days.
So i'm guessing he wasnt valued that highly when he joined so not sure how 5months in the championship turns him into 20m! probably more like 3-6m? (a la decent championship price)

Just to point out to the Brighton fan when you won at vicarage road this year it was near the start of the season and Zola was still trying to sort out all the new players and you only scored from a penalty

Why the shock at the price tag? Zaha is about to sign for Man Utd for 15 million plus and Watford fans rate Vydra as highly if not higher than Zaha. Vydra wasn't sent to a struggling Championship team. He was sent to a football club purchased by owners looking to go straight up to the Premiership and Vydra was a huge part of that. He is a full Czech International and is better than any outsiders realise. Time will tell but if Crystal Palace can get 15 million for one of theirs then why can't a Watford player have a similar value. No more little old Watford getting robbed because they are desperate to sell. This is a new era and we will go up with Vydra scoring a minimum of 30 goals.

The issue of Vydra's value is related to what has been spent on him. I believe he was bought for £3-5m and when you consider wages the net spend on him will probably be nearer £6-7m.

The Pozzo's like to sell players only at a profit and so realistically you are looking at a minimum of £8m based on current form and what has already been spent on him.

Besides that, he is 20 and has scored 16 goals already this season. Ashley Young went for £9.5m and didn't have nearly as prolific a record.

All non Watford fans don't really think what's going on is particularly ethical. Lending players from one club to another by the same owners, all quite bizarre. How many loanees are there? What is the squad size? Whole set up is a joke and surprised it's legal, certainly not moral

To those who question whether the way Watford operate is ethical, would you say being bought by a mega-bucks owner from the middle east who goes out and spends endless money on players and wages is more ethical?

This way, not only are Watford financially sound, but they will develop younger players, they won't just buy in good players, they will buy potential and develop it. In terms of who is better for the game, the Watford/Udinese/Pozzo way is far better and more ethical than the man city/chelsea/PSG way.

How is it any less ethical than a billionaire taking over a club and spending there way to greatness, ridiculous comment before.
