Liverpool have joined the race to sign carlos salcido from PSV, who would cost only 2.5m. Salcido will join liverpool as they will offer him first team football, while rejecting wigan, roma and valencia. Liverpool will sell Javier Mascherano to Inter for around 25m, and replace him with ever banega from valencia for 10m. Liverpool will then use the other 15m plus 4m from riera and 5m from insua to sign marcus pederson for 5m, a very promising young striker and diego forlan with the remaining 20m.

Why is it that people are of the thinking that if we sell Mascherano we have to bring in a like–for–like player? The whole past critiscism has been around us playing with 2 holding midfielders, something Roy will do away with right away. Therefore the position vacated Mascherano will be filled by Lucas, Roy's captain on the recent tour. As for Gerrard falling back into the midfield it won't happen, Aquilani will be the playmaker under Roy, unless of course the BIG signing eveyone is talking about does take place! In which case expect Roy do away with his need for a left back as we revert to just 3 at the back (a tactic deployed on the recent tour) and which will open up the possibility of us possessing the kind of attacking team Roy know's the fans are demanding.

I had posted about a week ago that my source ( 100% reliable – has two cousins playing for top 10 EPL sides..serious!) had told me that he had heard Arsenal would be signing Stekelenburg and Subotic. So.. now news is breaking on a potential deal for Stekelenburg, and a deal is imminent for a 17 million CB from Germany. I think the Akinfeev story that is being circulated is just talkthe "Ajax" contingent is TOO influencial at the Emirates..expect Stekelenburg to be announced before the Emirates Cup. Subotic has already toured the Arsenal training facilities..and again..I believe Mertesacker is a smokescreen as well to keep other clubs from hijacking the deal. I have abit of an insight into whats happening with Manchester United, Who they are interested in, who they want to sell, etc, etc.
Interests;
–Stefan Defour – Sir Alex is clearly interested in the Midfield man, whether he'll get him is another story a fee of £13.2 Million has been 'quoted'.
–Eden Dzeko – The last news i heard on this was just before Manchester United signed Hernandez so things may have changed.
–Jack Rodwell – This is just an obvious target who has however recently signed a new deal at everton so an offer of atleast £27 Million would be needed, IF Sir Alex tries and Fails to sign Rodwell Tom Huddlestone has been named as plan B.
Departures;
– Macheda – With him having the same development problems as Rossi he may be sold for a fee of £8 Million, but the more likely option is a 3 month Loan Spell at either a Spanish, Dutch or English club.
– Welbeck – this depends on his Pre–Season but its likely he will go out on Loan with Newcastle being the Media's choice HOWEVER Blackpool seem to be the more Likely choice as they have a lack in firepower.
– Michael Carrick – Michael has been given one more season to prove he can be consistant at the highest level for an entire season, if he fails it is likely that he will be sold sooner rather than later with Everton or Aston Villa being the likely clubs, he may even go this season depending on IF anyone is signed in a midfield role, if he goes a fee of around £7–12 Million has been reported.

Not exactly a rumour and i don't think the McCoist twitter is real as it's very unprofessional. If it somehow is true i think a more likely rumour could be Gibbs instead of Wilshere. Rangers desparately need cover for left back or could be deployed more as a midfielder as we need wingers and Papac can go back into the centre for cover although i personally feel he's a liability there. Gibbs is a good young player and back–up to Clichy and although he was getting a few games last season until hit by injury. Not sure if Wenger would let him go however and if they'd keep him for back–up as im not sure if Traore is still there as i remember interest from PSG. Just a thought though!(4)(7)

Heard cristian purslow is in madrid doing some sort of deal with spanish clubs for a left back. it looks like ashley cole is going to real madrid despite what chelsea have said about him staying he clearly is not happy in london and wishes to move abroad.Now with ashley cole leaving for madrid, madrid will have three left backs marcelo, drenthe and the incoming cole which leaves me thinking is it marcelo who purslow is in discussions with. After all he won't be playing many matches with cole in the team he is the best left back in the world by the way.

The reason that qoutations are used is so that who ever is printing the story about the "Hodgson Beef situation" can then say that they lifted it from the news of the screws.
The truth is this. It is a story, run by a news international "rag". It has no confirmation from within the club, I know someone who works in the offices at Anfield and they say that talking to anyone from any of the newspapers who lied is a discaplinary offence, so it is a made up story that sounds good, so other papers have carried it on. I'm fairly well connected at Newcastle, but by no means do I know what will happen for sure, just bits of news circulating inside the club:
It's now common knowledge (published in l'equipe) that Newcastle have some representatives out in France to negotiate for Hatem Ben Arfa. The sum mentioned is £6 which would mean a hefty loss for Marseille, so a season–long loan is likely with a view to buy.
Hughton looking at two loan deals. The first will be Tom Cleverley, maybe only until January to cover Gosling's injury.
The second loan deal was going to be Patrick Van Aanholt, however in light of the Steven Taylor injury, Hughton wants to loan in a centre half and look to sign a left back on the cheap, or use Kadar as cover for Jose Enrique.
Finally, a striker is being lined up to partner Carroll, with Lovenkrands as 3rd choice cover and Best looking to be sold on. Newcastle did show interest in Gary Hooper but now he's all but gone to Celtic.

The story about Torres having "beef" with Liverpool was printed by the NOTW.
Not a paper popular within the L4 area.
Its fairly well known that Rob Beasley who is senior writer for this "News" papers sport section is a mouth piece for certain members of Chelsea's inner sanctum and will write storeys on their behalf to stir things up, particularly when they arent true and involve the red half of Merseyside!
Although the story doesn't have his name on it, you can be sure that he was behind it.
So then you can write the story off just on that one alone.
And secondly, when was the last time you heard a 62 year old man who is as well spoken and well read as RH use an American street slang to describe any situation?

Pueslow is in Spain negotiating a number of possible deals, depending on the sale of Mascherano.
Atletico left back Antonio Lopez is being pursued to play left back and a figure of around £6m will be discussed. Lopez is well thought of by Torres and highly recommended by Maxi too, as well as playing well against Liverpool in the Europa league last season.
While negotiating with Atletico the names of Forlan and Aguero will come up i am sue, however current funds mean they are likely to be signed unless any take over happens before the end of August. Aguero would be the target of a late deal for a showpiece signing.
Other Spanish based players who Liverpool have been following include Banega, however he is unlikely to sign unless Aquilani or Lucas leave.
Drenthe is also an option for the left hand side, but that will depend on Lopez.
Konchesky is likely to be signed for around £2m as competition for left back and Flamin is being targeted as the replacement for Mascherano.
huntelaar is a possible loan addition, but if enough money is available I expect Hodgson to pursue Kevin Doyle, who he rates very highly. Doyle can play up front on his own, or alongside Torres and I am sure would score goals with service provided by the likes of Jovanovic, Cole, Gerrard, Maxi, Kuyt, Babel Aquilani etc etc

Further to the possible imminent sigings of Whittingham and Pratley. Reds fans can expect at least two more signings in the next week or two. Forests contract offer to Shorey ( A fee with Villa was agreed weeks ago) was given with a time limit. If Shorey doesn't accept soon the offer will expire and Forest will pursue other targets. With Traore, Dickinson and Rindarooy all thought to be options.
A striker will also be signed, with Austin, Simpson and a number of Scandinavians being linked.
Tyson, though not keen to drop into League 1 will talk to Southampton if they can match Forest's valuation. All has been very quiet lately, but I have heard from a source close to the club that Palace are to announce up to 4 signings next week. I believe one of them is the confirmation of Lewis Price's arrival from Derby County, but the other three signings are believed to be two midfielders and a striker. This would take Palace's total number of players signing to 7, but George Burley is very keen to reach the 10 mark due to the number of trialists which have played in the friendly games. It is evident that he wants more depth in the squad. As my source only knows that two midfielders will sign and a striker, I believe Burley will want another striker after that and a left back possibly.
The only information I can reveal is that one of the midfielders is understood to be Charlton Athletic's Jose Semedo, who is rumoured to of handed in a transfer request. I do not know that for a fact, I just know Burley is very interested to land him, especially after the disappointment of losing out on Barnsley's Hugo Colace. A holding midfielder is needed and Semedo would fit the bill perfectly, after Derry's transfer to QPR. Colace was approached and was set to sign last week, but unfortunately decided to show his loyalty to Barnsley and sign a new deal. The bid for Semedo is unknown, but it is understood to be an enquiry. There have been reports linking him to clubs such as Celtic and Wolfsburg, but Palace will hope to make the player their own in this transfer battle. If Palace do miss out, then a bid will be in place for either Sheffield Wednesday's Sean McAllister or Charlton's Therry Racon, as both clubs are unfortunately struggling financially and maybe tempted to sell up. However, none of these bids will be over the £500,000 mark, as is evident in the other midfielder we are close to signing in Owen Garvan of Ipswich Town. Our pursuit of him is public and a the deal should be done when a fee is met, as Garvan is very keen on the switch. The mystery striker we could be close to signing is a Premier League youngster, but our source has not been informed who this exciting player could be. My guess is one of Nile Ranger of Newcastle United, Zavon Hines of West Ham, James Vaughan of Everton or Scott Sinclair of Chelsea. Burley is thought to be keen on linking up with Chelsea and Arsenal to acquire their prospects on loan deals and Ryan Bertrand and Mark Randall are names which are up in the air at the moment. Bertrand is keen to join Palace, so if other Championship sides come in for him on loan, then I can only see him choosing us. That's all the information I know.

Hot from the inside! The story that Torres's beef is with the owners not the club is 100% true. Torres was promised Villa as a partner for last season. The papers were on the verge of being signed and the Americans pulled the money to pay debts instead. Torres half–believes this was their plan all along so that he would be 'trapped' into staying. As a result Torres is refusing to commit unless he actually sees a quality support partner signed – not just promised. He simply will not accept anyone's word over the matter – not Purslow, not Hodgson andefinately not the Americans. He accepts that the Americans are no longer in control and the banks are running the show now. If Barcelona are interested in Torres, I am pretty sure thay they will have to sell Ibrahimavic first to raise funds. Ibrahimavic has said that he does not want to move to England so the options of offering the player plus some cash for Torres does not seem to be a possibility.
Putting aside any English clubs who are interested in Torres – I am confident that if he wants to consider a move to Italy that there will be options available. However, there may need to be a player plus cash deal made as Liverpool would probably price the player way too high.

Expect the Aguero deal to be released in a week.

Purslow in Spain 'negotiating a transfer'. Liverpool need a left back. Rumours of Royston Drenthe being on the radar. It's all very square peg in a square hole. Drenthe is a left wing–back and could fill the left back slot at Anfield and reinforce a more attacking philosophy. Drenthe was also chased for a while by Benitez in 06/07 but he opted for Real instead. He is very agile and although naturally left–sided can play either side in full back or winger role making him a handy utility player to any squad. He is a good friend of Babel (I believe they have even made a record together?) and there is no doubt that he can play at a standard high enough for the EPL. BUT – and this is a very big BUT – is he of a standard high enough for a team that sees itself as a permanent member of the 'top four' and is desperate to re–assert itself into that group.
Personally – with the right coach, I think so but it's a gamble. I also believe this is who Purslow is in Spain for, not Aguero.

In response. as amazing as this would be i see some problems. If we are to sign aguero then where does the money come from? JAGIELKA Man City enquired about 4 Everton players way back in May which included 18m bid for Jagielka. City offered Lescott as part of the deal. (The value of Lescott was 10m, but there is no way he would be re–signed by Moyes).

..First of all Fernando Torres will not be leaving Anfield this year although he does have problems with the club and is unsure about where the club is headed. It's sad to say this but the only reason he won't be leaving this year is because there simply isn't anybody who wants him. It sounds crazy but Ancelotti has said he doesn't want to sign him, Torres himself has said he doesn't want to play for City, Barca won't sign him because they have Villa and Ibrahimovich and he won't go to Real Madrid because they are the rivals of his boyhood club Atletico. However Fernando will give Liverpool another year and if things change then he may stay a bit longer.
Now some news regarding Arda Turan, the Galatasary president (Adnan Polat) has said that the club is willing to sell Arda to one of 5 top clubs in Europe. According to reports those clubs are, Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. However he would only cost around £10 Million due to his contract length and has said numerous times that he is wants to play for Liverpool. So should Hodgson make a bid for Turan then he will be a Liverpool player for this coming season. Hodgson must first sell Mascherano (who wants to leave) and sign one or 2 fullbacks, and a striker. So expect the deal to happen within 3–4 weeks.

I'm a season ticket holder in the Kop and I have it on good authority that Christian Purslow has been in Ibiza talking with Torres, attempting to convince him to stay at LFC. The situation is that Torres back in March was stating LFC had to buy 4 or 5 quality players and although Cole has been signed, no other player has been aquired which would strengthen the starting XI. Purslow has now stayed in Spain and is speaking with two clubs about the availability of two players. Unfortunately I do have any more info on who these players are but people closer to the club than I are dreaming of Aguero. With only 3 weeks to go until the start of the season, there will have to be some additions as early as this week if Torres is to be convinced the club is moving in the right direction.

–arsene wenger himself has just recently stated that he will not sell cesc, as the last word goes to arsenal football club, not barca, and not cesc.

In response.. as amazing as this would be i see some problems. If we are to sign aguero then where does the money come from? Even from mascherano sale, the price we'd have to pay for aguero is gonna leave us with little/no money to get a quality left back which we desperately need & the defensive midfielder to replace mascherano (i've heard lucas being mentioned to fill this position but he is far FAR more effective going forward). However there is another possibility.. could the signing of aguero be a double edged sword!? What i mean is, could aguero be a replacement for torres? We'd certainly have the money for him if torres was sold! and we'd have plenty of cash left to cover the other positions.
I hope we have torres and aguero next season, but right now i think we can only afford one and personally i'd much rather have torres. Maybe it's a discussion to sign him in january, when hopefully we'll have new owners and new money :)

Over the past couple of days I have been speaking to Ally McCoist on Twitter. I honestly don't know if true, however, last night he message that there is a Big Signing on Monday at 12pm. All he said is that he is a very talented youngster being signed from a very big club and he is English., couldnt give anymore details. I don't know how much I believe it, however if something happens on Monday then you can judge for yourself.

Didn't see that coming. And not entirely sure I want it to happen either. Not sure if he will slot into LB though as he plays more regularly LM. Just released that gennaro gattuso has showdown talks about moving clubs . this apparently involves serious descussions with his family ( wife and son) who are both from glasgow. rumour has it he has been checking out the availability of returning to ibrox.

Just heard that galatasray have inquired about the availability of several wingers one being Ben Arfa as Turan has told them that if Liverpool come in for him then he wishes to leave. Note that Turan has already publicly shown his affection for Liverpool recently. Any deal will now depend on wether or not Liverpool want him (will be stupid if they dont). I expect talks to be held soon, I think the only reason nothing has happend as of yet is because Purslow has been on holiday and been busy speaking to Torres because of this he has not spoke to Hodgson in the last 2 days. I fully expect Liverpool to sign a Left back either jansen or Some one that has not been mentioned yet because they are all to expensive and also expect Turan to be coming to Liverpool aswell! Normally i hear about big name signings for liverpool before they happen but my sources have said nothing about sergio aguero. but everywere i look on internet mainly here, i find a lot of people are saying that he is joining. i keep hearing that mr purslow has flown out for talks and that aguero wants play alongside torres. there must be some truth in it.

Just been told by a very reliable source that Purslow is not in fact on holiday in Spain like I thought but is there negotiating a transfer and was speaking to Torres as he is in the area. The club they are speaking to is Athletico Madrid could this be for Aguero? surely not I thought that rumour was just every one wishing!! want some info as I do not want to get my hopes up heard anything ED? {editor's note – all I was told is that he was in Spain negotiating a transfer but I wasn't told anything more.}
