McClaren has flown to France today to hold talks with Guy Moussi and his agent to try to pursaude him to stay with the reds for at least another season. Although Moussi has indicated on a number of occasions that he is happy in Nottingham, the powers that be at Forest have chosen to wait until the end of the season to offer the former Angers midfielder a contract extension, a move that could prove costly as it has been reported that a number of premier league clubs are vying for the Frenchman's signature including Everton, Wigan and Blackburn Rovers.(1)(0)

Re: Earnshaw. Now they've got Maclaren in. Forest are about to open new contract discussions to keep him at Forest. I suppose you've still got a chance but the evidence from the Neill Danns debacle where you couldn't match the wages a Championship club could offer doesn't make it very likely.

Elsewhere, Southampton are continuing negotiations with Doncaster Rovers over the possible signing of Billy Sharp, Ipswich and Nottingham Forest are also interested but will not part with the £3m that Donny are demanding.

I have just heard from a very reliable source that Liverpool are closing in on their second signing of the transfer window and it isn't the much rumored Charlie Adam or Stewart Downing although both are still thought to be on their way it is. Giovanni dos Santos from Spurs to Everton for £2mil-£3mil. After Redknapp has been told that he needs to sell to buy he's willing to let dos Santos leave as he has had no use for the player for quite a while. The player has failed to even live up to the relatively small price Spurs paid for his transfer from Barcelona and is looking for a fresh start. He had previously been interested in a return to Spain but after seeing how well Javier Hernandez has done in his first year at Manchester United, dos Santos is keen to prove himself in the English game. Everton are still looking to fill the void left by Steven Pienaar after his move to Tottenham and have very little money to spend so this deal is quite attractive to them. With roughly £5mil made from the sales of Pienaar in January and James Vaughan, David Moyes would like to spend around half of that on dos Santos. This hinges on whether Bill Kenwright will make the funds available for Moyes to reinvest in the squad or if he will use it to pay off some of the club's debt.
If dos Santos were to join, that may spell the end of Everton's pursuit of Charles N'Zogbia unless the sales of Joseph Yobo and Yakubu can be done quickly enough. Everton are the player's preferred destination and have agreed a transfer price with Wigan, believed to be in the region of £9mil. Everton are having trouble raising the funds, however, and Wigan may turn to one of the players other suitors as they grow impatient, with Sunderland, Villa and Newcastle all interested.
With regards to the Yobo transfer, Everton are in negotiations with Fenerbahce after the player spent last year on loan with the club. At the time of the original loan agreement, a fee of £6mil was agreed between the clubs as the price to pay if Fenerbahce wished to make the transfer permanent. Instead of offering the agreed upon amount for a player that they would like to keep, Fenerbahce offered the paltry sum of £2mil which has made Everton furious. Everton are holding out for a fee of at least £5mil.
Fees in the region of £3mil-£4mil have been accepted from various clubs, including Leicester and West Ham, for the sale of Yakubu. However, the interested clubs have been frustrated trying to agree personal terms with the player as Yakubu has wage demands in the region of £50,000 a week, which is his pay rate at Everton.(15)(13)

Nicky Maynard will be unvailed as a Nottingham Forest player on monday 27th June. Bristol are intrested in taking on David McGoldrick as a replacement. Forest have had a bid of 4.5 million accepted for Maynard beating off competion from Leicester and West Ham Utd.

Not being funny, but 12 months ago, a certain James Perch told me he was looking forward to the following season at Forest and winning promotion. Neither happened, he joined Forest and not as a direct result of it, but we didn't get promoted either.
