Reading are desperatly trying to secure Steve Sidwell in a new three year contract.
- Sidwell has rejected thier first offer of £12,000 a week. If Reading and Sidwell can't compramise then Reading will accept Charlton's offer of 2.5 million plus Matt Holland (CM) for him.
Steven Hunt had declared that he will only stay at Reading if they offer him at least a two year contract instead of just one.
- Reading are now set to now offer him an improved 2 year contract
Chris Makin was set to sign a new one year contract this week but will delay his decision as he has had offers from other clubs.
Reading's intial bid for Lescott was 1.2m plus future incentives, they improved this offer up to 4m plus future incentives based on things like apperaences and priemiership survival but Wolves rejected all thier offers.
Reading has started negotiating with Birmingham again for Matthew Upson and another undisclosed player.

Aston Villa are wrapping up the signings of Steve Sidwell for £2.5m and James Milner for £3m. Milner has stated that if a move to villa park does not develop, he will stay with Newcastle. Also Danny Mills will come in in place of Mark Delaney who is moving to Blackburn for £1m. Mathieu Berson will stay, but Eric Djemba Djemba will leave for Benfica in a £1.2m deal. Jan Koller will move in to partner Milan Baros with Juan Pablo Angel £3m to Villareal and JLloyd Samuel £2m Charlton being the other two departures.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is back on Merseyside following his family holiday.
Rafa's already completed his first major signing, his new Liverpool contract, and he's now in his office working on his summer targets including Daniel Alves.
Chief executive Rick Parry is currently working on that deal but he's unhappy with some technicalities of the proposed transfer.
The initial transfer fee isn't causing the problem, it's other financial aspects of the deal that could be triggered that are a concern, which could see the fee rise over time.
Meanwhile Insider sources are reporting that Rick Parry is due to meet with football agent Franck Belhassen after the World Cup finals.
There's also talk of the Reds ending their interest in a striker who showed little desire in wearing the Red shirt of Liverpool. He's subsequently signed for Bayern Munich it would seem.

I reckon that Ruud will hop over the alps to Italy and Milan pretty soon, Utd will put the pressure on them cos they know that that they now need a new striker, (in respects to Sheva leaving). They will also put on pressure because they know how much money Milan recieved, and so will be able to afford Utd's high valueation. Expect a bid in the region of 15-20mill. Mascherano is now having medicals i've heard and the deal will soon be done, along with kerlon. Fergie is tryin to get all the deals over before the world cup because he knows the players are good and so will perform well on the wolrd-stage (pushing their values up).
Adriano to Real Madrid? I really hope so! because I doubt he will come to Man Utd unless a spectaular turn of luck comes our way. The reason i then hope he goes to R.Madrid is that then Chelsea cant get him for a few years. Imagine how good they'd be with Sheva nd Adriano!
