A wee birdie has told me that Paul Sturrock has offered his resignation as Southend United manager. This has been accepted with the proviso that he continues until the end of the season.
Mr Sturrock has grown increasingly frustrated by the shenanigans at Board level, with the players not regularly paid on time and the ongoing transfer embargo which frustrated any chance of getting into the League Two play-offs. The embargo has been covered up by the club who have fed stories about attempts to sign players.
Will the players be sold over the summer break or will their contracts be effectively broken?

Watford, aswell as a few other championship teams, want to sign Cameron Bell on a free from Kilmarnock. Watford see him as a good replacement for Loach who is leaving in the summer.

UNLIKELY he is easily worth that kind of money, but he won't go that far north, he has played in East Anglia since 2008 and he wouldn't move his family north for pl football when he might get it with Norwich next season anyway, as a virtually guaranteed selection.
Ed any news about Cody McDonald? Gillingham want him bad, 22 goals in 35 games is fantastic. Any news of other clubs coming in for him? {Ed001's Note - I haven't heard of anyone moving for him, I am told lots are watching him though.}

Newcastle are going to try their luck with some big name strikers this summer with bigs for Adebayor Gervinho and Defoe. At least two strikers will be purchased so that their current situation is not repeated. However the younger members of the squad will get their chance. This will be just the start with several creative midfielders catching the eye as well as a loan big for Arsenals Emmanuel Frimpong.

Due to the ever-increasing financial crisis at Coventry City, the club come out and said that they will need to sell players over the summer, to avoid the club going into Administration.
The board have already been in contact with Premiership and Championship clubs, alerting them to the fact that players are available, in the hope of drumming up some interest.

I have heard of a couple of names that could sign, these are David Marshall (Cardiff), Cameron Bell (Kilmarnock), Gary Dicker (Brighton), Josh Wright (Scunthorpe), Daniel Bogdanovic (Sheff Utd) and Danny Green (Dag & Red).
