Giving Lee Bradbury 4 million to spend is like giving a kid matches!! Why is he trying to sign standard league 2 players like Matt Jarvis and constable? Wtf! If you want success it needs to start at the top and he isn't the right choice. New manager needed to spend the money on players to take as forward please mr Mitchell and Mr Demin

Even if Billy Sharp leaves Doncaster, he'll always be a Rovers and deep down, he knows it. Confident he'll stay though

Believable1 Unbelievable1

What do you mean "if" ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Have you told Billy that he'll always be a "Rovers"? Cos i think that's the kind of thing he should know. Personally i think he'll forget all about his tin-pot roots once he moves to a big club but hey, it's only an hour or so down the road, feel free to come visit him in Leicester.

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance is he gonna stay at Doncaster....why will he want to play in league 1 nxt season?...plus for your information he been on East Mids Today talkin to neville at King Power Stadium and as a result Leicester Assistant Manager Craig Shakespeare is 'Extremely Confident' he will sign in nxt couple days....so say ur goobyes

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Great speech, did you salute the club flag while you wrote it? I think i can hear you sticking out your chest from here.

Question; will you be proud when West Ham win the league and you shabby lot miss the playoffs?

Agree0 Disagree0

Answer : Yes, Mystic Meg, always proud to be a Saints fan, what a stupid question

Agree0 Disagree0

Really? So you'd be proud of your players for blowing a 5pt lead and for making you arrogant fools look stupid? Alrighty then, funny how we never heard from you lot before this season eh, you wern't so proud before you got promotion were you, how odd, where were all the proud Saints fans, you included, when you were relegated, twice? part-time pete's the lot of you, glory hunters.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, really, Mystic Meg. A 5pt lead about a third of the way through a 46 game league is peanuts and i would be proud of our achievement in coming from bottom of league 1 with minus 10 points. How arrogant of you to try and tell me where i've been for the past few years. In fact, i suspect i was a proud Saints fan before you were born. Who is your team? You sound very bitter and twisted.

this is not really a football rumour but it will settle any arguments about Spurs... Any player from abroad who's not too high profile the chances are Redknapp hasn't heard of him, so any rumours stating that tottenham are after someone abroad like that.. Ain't true! Redknapp will make an approach for someone abroad and he'll randomly sign for spurs one day, it'll come out of the blue and nobody will see it coming unless redknapp himself or the club spill it... just saying... however any player from the EPL who's linked with spurs is a massive possibility but redknapp enquires about alot of players so it doesn't mean they're actually coming to tottenham...

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Redknapp is only interested in signing a player if they are interested in a dodgy deal involving lacing harrys pockets with a few quid on the side

Interesting posts about pompeys finances. Its sad to see any club struggling for money and ownership off the field even if your the worst enemies. As a pompey fan and a true foootball fan i wouldnt wish it on anyone not even southampton again. If clubs go out of buisness it would turn in to less rivalry on the field. Every football fan looks forward to playing in a derby game it brings the excitment in to it. I for one hope we find a buyer soon obviously the right person or persons to take the club forward in the right direction.I doubt very much it will happen in next couple weeks and im sure we wont be losing or make any new additions too squad. I also wish the best for all the other clubs struggling for funds and my heart goes out to Darlington fans for what they are going through. Appleton doing a great job. PUP....

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I'm a saints fan and i got to admit it is a shame how messsed up pompeys finances are. It's not good for football at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

I look forward to playing you skates but hopefully we wont be next season as we will get promoted..as for us nearly going under but was saved in the twelth hour you lot were jigging around to your wanna be cockney chimes as i do remember but now shoe is on the other foot you wanna us to feel sorry for ya..aint gunna happen mush...bournemuff could be our next rivals the ways things are going..NS

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason you have gone into administration is becaus you bought players that you couldnt afford and paid them wages you couldnt afford and rode your luck for years with dodgey buisinessmen who were only interested in skimming off the top ,you should have been kicked out the football leagues when you went into administration last time but wer taken over by a man who had already failed the good and proper owners test, and was subsiquently arrested for fraud not long after i cant wait till you go out of buisiness

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm a Leeds fan and know what you mean it's a sad state of affairs when any club gets into trouble through whatever means

Agree0 Disagree0

Im a saints fan and obviously have a strong dislike for pompey but i do hope they find a buyer and save the club just so weve got a real rival that we can love to hate and enjoy the derby days that we all look forward to, just hope that thier new owners are not half as wealthy as ours.

Agree0 Disagree0

As an Argyle fan I know how you feel! No true fan would wish you to go out of business, saints fans should remember that two wrongs dont make a right, and that the real fans of portsmouth were not hoping soton would die. Bryher Pilgrim

If you go just North of border
And pay to watch a game
You'll come back South quite quickly
"Real football" will be your aim
For whilst they wear the same Green and White
I say this with a frown
They'll never ever be as good
As dear old Yeovil Town

Believable6 Unbelievable3

A clubs history, not money, make a club, its ongoing struggle for trophies,or relegation, that defines a club, money has corrupted the ethos of football, from small family run clubs,to the aristocratic clubs, whos name carries it far and wide,so the fans are the core of a club, for richer or poorer,be they Scottish,English,Irish,or the Welsh,we define our club with loyalty, and undying devotion.

What are you deluded Saints fans on about? He's in no hurry to leave, as he's stated many a time!

Granted the Championship is stronger and he would have access to the Premiership (if promoted) but what you seem to forget is that you most likely will be in the EPL for one season and then bounce straight back down. Whereas the SPL is poor, but why swap the chance to play European football (any level) to struggle in the lower part of the EPL? This thread is a non entity and any of you actually beleive he will leave for Southampton in January are kidding themselves. He'll leave in the summer for a Prem team.

As for the Celtic fans what are you on about? 60,000 fans? Do you's even go to the games I'm a season ticket holder and we haven't had 60,000 fans in years maybe the odd old fim game but apart from that it's 30-40,000 max.

Get a grip we're not as big as we think we are, yeah if we're doing well then all the fair weather supporters come out and scramble for tickets. We are a large club with a good name but nowhere near as big as people seem to think.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

And a near neighbour who play in blue that are just slightly better!

Agree0 Disagree0

Too right. Saints fan here. While Hopper would be an amazing signing, it's not happening, and certainly not to any club outside of the top flight. For now we'll just sign cheaper players and continue the push. While not going up would be a disablement following our start, we've got time on our side, with 2 full seasons of Liebherr and Cortese's 5 year plan left at the end of this one. If we go up we have the resources to survive, but until then Hooper is a dream signing, not a likely one.

Agree0 Disagree0

We will only see how good hooper is if he leaves that atrocious league he plays in now,the only good games he will get there is rangers and when they get spanked in europe, not a good test for a promising foreward i mean is it really hard to score aginst killmarnock and the likes of dunfermaline ,i remember stokes goin up there as a youth player finishing top spl striker coming back to england and couldnt by a goal, now he is scorin for fun up there agin..........pub football at best

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry to burst your bubble but stokes has never been the top spl scorer. he was top scorer for his club (falkirk when he was a youngster) but was still short by a good 10+ goals on the winner that year

Yeah mate bang on! Just like Nick Barmby who left the greatest team in all of the world to sign for Hull.

Where he only managed to carry on playing for another 7 years or so,

Where he had 2 promotions and 2 seasons in the Premier League.
And the best thing is, even though he was our player, you mugs were still paying part of his wages!!

Where were the Mighty Shights during that spell?

Were they representing Europe in the Super Cup? Were they battling it out with Manchester United for the Premier League title or were they up against Barcelona in the Champions League final??

Southampton Football Club;
we all know that were getting promoted
no matter what this season...
But, we need to boost our squad options
by signing;
A centre back - Berra? Kilgallon?
Bamba? Bramble? Someone experienced.
A Playmaker - Lewis Mcgugan?
Jason Koumas? Graeme Dorrans?
Tchoyi?
A winger - Andrew Driver?
Kris Commons? Wilfred Zaha?
A striker? Tadanari Lee (OBVIOUSLY)
Gary Hooper? Jordan Rhodes?

Sorry, but im a saints fan, and THAT is ambitious. No way we could attract 70% of them....Rhodes is prem standard, so would go there if he was even leaving at all, which i think he wont, and im glad. He will do well to stay and grow at huddersfield (who are a pretty good team), Zaha..just lol, top half prem team easily. But i like the ambition :P
I'm a saints fan but that won't happen Lee-yes Hooper-possible Rhodes-wtf !
I thought there was a league and the top 2 teams went up then there were playoffs did not realise you guys got auto promotion.
Surely I'm not the only one getting annoyed with stupid southhampton fans thinking they are the best team in the world because they had a good start to the season
Tchoyi is not a playmaker, nobody knows what he is, not even himself. He's definitely a handful!
We do not no that we are going up. long way ta go yet m8
No chance of u getting hooper at all! And there still half a season to go so u could still muck up! even though i have u backed to get promoted from the start.

Why the hell do Southampton all of a sudden think they are a big club thinking they can be linked with every player going and rattling on about there billions! Fact of the matter is there best day in football was losing a cup final they have a trophey cabinet to rival that of mk dons!! The bubble is about to burst there and this time next year they'll still be in the championship punching above their weight.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

If you wish to be wound up by Saints fans who sound about the same age as you then so be it. Although a long time ago, our best day in football was winning the FA Cup Final against a Manu side in the division above. The 5 year plan is the Prem by 2014. If we don't get promoted this season with a relatively weak squad in numbers then i bet we start next season as favourites with a much stronger squad. Who is your team?

Love how most people on here think southampton have no money, our owner is valued at around 7 billion, so i think we might just have the money, hooper has been linked with a move, noone knows whats going on but adkins did manage him at Scunthorpe, so theres a obvious chance, tandari lee will complete him move very soon , kric commons is the last player whos linked with a loan move too, if i was commons and hopper i would come to saints because lets be honest scottish football is boring, noone cares about it, they would probably jump at the chance to come to england, noone knows accept the chairmman whats happening anyway, forte and lee homles will be the only two people leaving if they do,

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Take a look at Blackburn, money don't buy you everything, Saints going nowhere

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah you could have have a a rich owner but your players are on a wage which limits who will join the saints so stop bigging it up like they are abramovichs

Agree0 Disagree0

The difference between saints and Blackburn is the quality of owner. Liebherr was loved by the fans and we all mourned his loss. RIP Markus. Also Cortese hasn't set any real objectives this season. He wants consolidation, the position we're in is just a bonus. The Venky's are demanding the Champions League for £20m. Finally the Venky's have £650m wealth, and no knowledge of football. The Cortese/Liebherr trustees have a net worth of £3b. We're not doing a Man City, we're building, and hopefully that means a team from the youth academy, that means back off Wenger. Shaw's staying.

Agree0 Disagree0

Blackburn are ***te because you buy old players saints are awesome becaus we produce the best and have billions of pounds even if we dont buy we will blood new players of top quality,of course were goin places div!

Ipswich are not going bust. The £60 million debt is owed to the clubs owner Marcus Evans and not a bank. Also the debt is spread across all of his companies within The Marcus Evans Group. Furthermore, he bought the debt from the bank which at the time was approx £32 million for approx £10 million (Co-op Bank wrote it off as bad debt that they would unlikely to get paid for). In reality he is owed a lot less which will only be repayable when Ipswich are in Premier League. Furthermore he is quoted in Sunday Times Rich List as having a personal fortune of at least £625 million and his fortune is growing fast. Some people believe he could be worth £1 billion+. As the clubs main creditor he is hardly likely to put the club into administration is he?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

But it's still a debt,yes?

Agree0 Disagree0

I love when closet accountants get cracking on explaining the make-up of a football teams finance package. You can tell the one's who don't have a scooby cos they're the one's who think it's ok to write off a debt if it's "only" owed to the chairman/owner of the club. If it's a book debt, it's a book debt. Look it up numb nuts, try to edumacate yourself before making yourself look dim(mer)
