I'm sick and tired of hearing Celtic and rangers would fail in the EPL, CELTIC and rangers are bigger clubs than most of the teams in the EPL, if Celtic and rangers had the money that the epl have coming in every season we could contend for the league not a problem, the english fa are scared to let us come down south because they know we would put in a great challenge every season, come on Celtic are one of the biggest followed teams in the world, give us 30+ million a season we would cause trouble in england and if you's stupid epl supports don't agree its because you's haven't a clue about how big a club Celtic and as much as it pains me to say rangers actually are and could be even bigger given the money, look at it back in the day when money didn't talk in football, Celtic won the european cup with a team that came from within 20 miles of parkhead, first time it ever touched british soil, so can all you english football supports open you eyes and stop talking bull, obviously you's haven't a clue what you's are talking about considering money gets thrown about in the epl, give us that coin and CELTIC or rangers can and will contend for the epl and champions league every season, HAIL HAIL, ITS A GRAND OLD TEAM TO PLAY FOR

Believable5 Unbelievable4

You really are deluded there are so many reasons us south of the border don't want you in our league the main one being your not English and haven't earnt the right to play in the epl, and before you say we have Swansea and Cardiff playing in our leagues although I don't agree with it least they have earnt their right so please feel free to join our non league and work you way up. O and one last thing football changes and just because you did well in Europe over 30 years ago that stands look at the other teams that have won it Forrest villa etc all with average players it would never happen again sadly so get with the times and enjoy your boring 2 horse race.

Agree0 Disagree0

Berwick Rangers are English, and play in Scotland.I am happy with being the most sucsessul club side in domestic football thanks. And playing in the champions league more times than we dont make it.I support the only team, that should rightfully be called Rangers.Ally

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah one game in the champions league every season

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers have been in the last four of the champions league under Smith. And big Eck had us in the last 16.And that is more than most small nations clubs..And Celtic have won the thing,as they keep reminding you.The only time that they want to be called British,is when there saying that they were the first British team to win it.Ally

Agree0 Disagree0

Even if celtic and rangers came to the PL u wouldn't compete straight away it would take years of good management etc as the big PLteams r miles ahead of u...not saying ur not big clubs as u clearly r in ur own right but its not all about how many fans u have got or how much money u got its about how the club is run as a whole...and also u wouldn't even be in european competition for at least the 1st few seasons as u ent got the players to compete amonst the elite PL teams and any scot that thinks otherwise seriously needs help

Wolves fan get a grip .Average for Wigan this season is between 17500 and 18000. Nothing wrong with that .Wolves are in the second largest city , Wigan in a small northern town. It takes time to build a fan base . Wigan has only existed since 1932 and only entered the league in 1978 so the crowds are OK. Dont get me wrong I wish the ground was packed every game , but its not . You are just another nob having a cheap shot at Wigan . People shouldhold Wigan up as a great example of what can be achieved by a small club .

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I don?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t want to be too pedantic here but A Manchester is the second largest city in England and B Wolverhampton is not in Birmingham, up until 2000 it was a town now it is a city {Ed001's Note - Birmingham is the 2nd largest city in England!}

Agree0 Disagree0

No Ed Birmingham is the second city but Manchester is the second largest {Ed001's Note - not by size of population it is not. If you are referring to Greater Manchester being bigger, that is a different thing.}

And to those wee boys north of the border rangers and Celtic will never be in the pl and they will never be good enough to challenge englands finest fact you can't attract top players cos. your crap get used to your iron bru league

Can we stop with all the fantasy posts about Hooper going to Southampton.
Why do you honestly think he would go to a small time club like yours?
Man is a proven scorer at every level he has moved up to.
We offer 60k crowds, idolised by fans, medal opps and europe.
Not seeing the same opps at you lot.
As for £6M, get real. Look at the inflated prices south of the border and then come back with a real offer!

I am a Southampton fan and i know that we will be buying the full Barcelona, Real Madrid and AC Milan squads as well as every player that we have been linked to.

Watch this space

btw Saints will sign 2/3 players plus Tadanari Lee, which will probably be a covering CB (Sean St. Ledger - unwanted by Leicester), a goal-scoring midfielder (Jacob Butterfield - yes i know hes injured but someone like him)and a new wing/striker(european or someone like Gary Hooper/Jay Rodreiguez)

Im not saying we will sign these players these are just examples of the sorts of players that i think saints should sign.

I think all saints need apart from Lee is another winger.

as usual norwich don't spend a bloody penny because of our tight board, bla bla bla idc about where we've come in 2 years I've been a season ticket holder for double figures and this money mentality won't keep us up in the long run. And yes, I'm a real Norwich fan before you question that. And I had the joy of watching Norwich get relegated from the Premiership 2005-2006. The joy of watching us bottle it against Fulham, we only needed a draw to stay up, and lost 6-0. We will never be a good club if our board doesn't stop being so bloody tight.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't understand some Norwich fans, we Are 9th in the premier league with a team that cost less than £11.mil scoring more goals than most and are probably safe at this point, needing 3 or 4 wins from the next 18 to make sure, we are beginng to see daylight between the bottom 3 and us, Just take a look at the run in of their next 6, QPR have spent a fortune, they could easily be looking over their sholder come 5pm today. I know where I'd rather be, But at the end of the day if we finish anywhere out of the Bottom 3 that will be A good job well done

It's true McGugan has not been at his best. I just feel Lambert would be able to get the best out of him. He has the knack. I'd have liked to have seen Forest promoted and they were very close in the end last year, but whats happened at the City ground since will definitely not have been good for a player like him. A chance to shine in the prem might give him the nudge he needs to find that consistency. Especially with Lambert at Norwich. At his best, the close ball control he shows is top class. He obviously has plenty of talent and i reckon is worth a shot at 1.5m

I'm a Bournemouth fan and have been told to come and look at this site as Swindon are getting their knickers in a twist and I would like to say this is a "transfer rumour" site and I imagine it isn't even Bournemouth fans posting about this Ritchie character as it is common knowledge a bid was made followed by a few others. Yes Bournemouth have now got a few bob and are bidding for lots of players and I do have a bit of sympathy for Swindon because for as long as I can remember clubs with a few bob have always nabbed our players for nowhere near their Market value, as recently as last season when we lost an entire team to be precise. Unfortunately that's football but although probably a bit unfair for Swindon to attack Bournemouth like they have but when championship clubs were circling ings, Pittman, Feeney etc didnt we all get defensive? What I am trying to say is things are very exciting and we're all getting carried away a bit but what will be will be, once the transfer window shuts look at who's come in, get behind them and the team and don't rise to it! It's all getting a bit silly now

Norwich manager Paul Lambert admits he is frustrated he cannot attract players in the transfer window because the club cannot compete with the wages paid by the rest of the Premier League.

Lambert has handed a list of targets to the club but so far has drawn a blank in his attempts to persuade anyone to go to Carrow Road.

And that is despite a stirring first half of the season which has seen Norwich in the top half of the table with a healthy 25 points and playing free-flowing football.

Lambert said: "We're not making inroads. It's frustrating. We can't do the wages, that is a problem.

"The lads need a hand but you have to bring them (reinforcements) in to play. It's no good bringing people in here that I think are not going to play or be a squad player or just make up the numbers.

"At the minute we are not making any headway.

"People have the wrong perception of the money Norwich have got to spend. You hear funds are available all the time, but when you look at the prices we can't compete with that. We are nowhere near. It's hard.

"The club two years ago was flat on its face. We have a structure here which might stabilise it, but you still have to get players in you think could help.

"You'd love to be linked with players of £10million and £12million and pay their wages but we're not and that's the reality of it."

Lambert believes Norwich are victims of the speed of their success, which has seen a seven-year plan to take them from League One to the Premier League achieved in two.

The Norwich boss, who predicts there will be few significant deals across the Premier League in January, urges fans to be realistic and insists the club is not set up at present to scour Europe for bargains.

He said: "Because we are in the Premier League people assume we are going to do what QPR do. You can't do it. The money they are talking about, we can't compete with it.

"The quickness of the thing that has transpired (at Norwich) makes it really tough. There was a seven-year plan and all of a sudden it is blown out of the water in two.

"The European route might be one the club goes down (in the future) but at the minute we have to set things in place. You have to walk before you can run.

"I don't think Norwich will feel the benefit of the Premier League until they are two or three years in it because of the finances."

Norwich visit West Brom tomorrow with revenge on their minds, considering Roy Hodgson's side won 1-0 at Carrow Road earlier this season. They can also strike a psychological blow ahead of their FA Cup fourth-round tie against Albion later this month

Lambert said: "We are playing very well. We look as if we can hurt teams and we are going there with a lot of confidence. I've got no problem with the lads who are here, they have been brilliant for me this season."

Goalkeeper John Ruddy, who returns after missing the FA Cup win against Burnley after his partner gave birth to their daughter, will be looking to keep the first clean sheet of the season.

Lambert will make a late decision on defender Marc Tierney after a groin problem while Elliott Ward and James Vaughan are back in training after knee injuries but still a couple of weeks off returning.

Lambert, however, who has also failed in attempts to bring in players on loan, just cannot wait for the transfer window to close.

He said: "It's not great, people panic, you get asked the same things week in and week out, when it closes you don't have that distraction, you just go with what you've got and do everything you can to stay in the league. I'll be glad when it's over."

Am I missing something with this whole Matt Ritchie thing? Swindon are 4th and struggling in the 4th tier of English football which is probably the weakest it has ever been this year and Bournemouth are supposedly building for the championship with wealthy owners but are hinging all there effort and energy on buying this Ritchie fella who isn't even Swindons best player in a very poor Swindon side? Looks like this Bournemouth revolution might be a job for Sven :/

Wolves fans make me laugh, as if any of your players are too good for Stoke? A glimpse of the league table tells its own story. Why would Stoke want any of your players anyway when your best player (Henry) failed to make the grade at the Britannia?

I know McCarthy must have had a few blows to his head in his time (just look at his nose!) but even he knows that Stoke are a much bigger club than Wolves.

Elekobi won't be coming to Stoke - we don't want/need him, we fry much bigger fish these days.

With the possible exception of Walsall, Wolves are the runt of the West Midlands litter - even Birmingham are bigger than Wolves and they are in the Fizzy Pop league!

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Yes Stoke are doing well, top half of the league, in the europa league trips to Wembley BUT they are only averaging a few more at home than Wolves and this is your most successful period in your clubs history. How long can your chairman bank roll your team because there is no way you are self sufficient with that size of gates, your brand of football has a short shelf life so enjoy while it lasts

if celtic are so financially well off and have all these great billionaires on the board why is it they dont go out and pay big money for big players? Ther top target is baba diawara who would cost 5mil and is a goal machine. if they bought him and a good 5mil centre half they would win the league..surely 10 million to a team as well off as celtic make themselves out to be with these billionaires we keep hearing about on the board shouldnt be a problem? at a time when rangers are badly struggling for money celtic should be trying to build a team who rangers cant compete with on the park, yet we hav won 3 in a row and are only 2points behind in the league this year. My team might be skint but we r still laughing at celtic..and ther complete lack of ambition. At least rangers gave it a bash once upon a time!

Believable8 Unbelievable2

Because the league is not one that great players want to play in.
You can get away with Championship players up there.
Great support, but naff league!

Agree0 Disagree0

And look where you are now. Trying to do a deal with the taxman

Agree0 Disagree0

It's because they are good businessmen, hence why they are billionaires and why you lot are facing extinction.
they also know that there is no point in spending 10m on 2 players in a league such as the spl, when hooper, izzy, kayal, matthews, ledley and ki were bought for around half that amount, and can be sold for a much bigger profit than 2 guys at 5m

are prepared to pay. The reason Billy
will be sticking with Donny is because
of the recent trajedy over his son and
he feels that he owes something to the
club for their support. Finally why would Billy move to Leicester? yes they have alot of
money but league form doesnt show
any signs of progress. He would be
better off waiting for a team like
West Ham or a lower premier league
team where he will be playing at the
top flight of football.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

We'll see i'd think his loyalty would be to get whats best for his family, both now and the future. The amount LCFC are offering would certainly do that and he wouldn't have to uproot his family.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ooh it's a nice try but you might want to take a wee peek at www.thisisleicester.co.uk and read the lead story. Sharp has all but signed and City 'expect' him to be in place before Saturday, Loyalty is great isn't it. {Ed001's Note - to be fair to Sharp, Donnie have asked him to move as they want (or need, I am not sure which it is) the money they will get.}

Stoke+Giants+Pulis=Rugby
-----------------------------------------------------
Oh, I see what you did there..clever, let me try.

Stoke City+Peter Coates+Tony Pulis, a manager who has never been relegated as a manager+ 26000 passionate home fans every game + a Fortress that most opposition players dont like visiting + promotion to the top flight x4 (consecutive seasons) + 2 trips to Wembley + Europa League qualification = 1 very successful team, going from strength to strength and getting up all the purist's nose along the way!

Love Math.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

You forgot cloggers, fouling, and towels under their shirt to dry the ball...thats Rugby i guess!

Stoke can hardly be called a footballing club though can they? Stoke Giants Rugby club.

-----------------------------------------------------
Swing Low....Sweet Chariot! I love that it gets up the 'purists noses about Stoke. Just because we don't play tippy tappy football. I think some people need educating about football, it is very simple really. If the team gets the ball into the net more times than the opposition, then they win. Simples, no manual to say it must also be passed 150 times beforehand.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

You're right of course, it's not called the Beautiful game or anything. They should call it hoofball just so you lot of cloggers feel better about yourselves - cos if you love your style of 'football' so much, why do you feel the need to defend it? Why not just sit back and look smug when you win the premier league over those morons who play 'tippy tappy football' - oh wait, Stoke are crap, i forgot. Looks like hoofball is working real well, this time next year Rodders...

Desmond IS a billionaire but doesnt invest any money worth note into your team. Rangers, a team on the brink of administration, have won the league three years running because your board hasnt spent big. The saying goes put your money were ur mouth is. So stop runnin ur mouths. yous wont spend big in january AGAIN and rangers will probably win the league AGAIN.

Blackburn, Swansea, Bolton, Arsenal, Southampton, Liverpool, Fulham, Newcastle, Norwich etc:

Watford value Marvin Sordell VERY highly indeed, but you'd almost be paying a million for every league goal he's scored from open play this season! (6). We are talking about a striker who has a career total of 21 Watford league goals, currently 18 players ahead of him on the top scorers list, a failed partnership with each of the 3 Watford strikers, a tiresome habit of punting from 30+ yards and an ego which has grown at an alarming rate over the past 12 months! This kid is nothing special.

For all of you, £4/£5m could either buy outright or contribute to the signing of a striker who could do the job Sordell can't. He's hardly setting the Championship alight, so what makes you beleive he would acheive ANYTHING in the Premier League? He won't be rescuing Blackburn, he won't take Newcastle into Europe - the only place he has any chance of success would be with Swansea and Danny Graham. Even then, much more than £1.5m from ANYBODY would be daylight robbery.

Let this be a fair warning from a supporter who watches Sordell weekly. But by all means sign him - we could do with the money for a ST CB R/LW CM and a GK!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think he would suit big sams punt and run football at west ham then?.... lmfao

I think there are some delusional and in denial supporters

Fact Celtic have a global fan base and would attract 60,000 to every home game which we regularly do

Fact Celtic only get a few million per year despite the biggest Sky viewing audiences regularly for Old Firm and other Ning games

Fact Celtic have beaten Blackburn , Liverpool and Man Utd in Europe as well as AC Milan and Barcelona with negate resources

Fact Celtic cannot attract players of highest calibre because of the SPL perceive status in football

Fact Celtic with the money from RPl an parachute payments etc would in a few years of settling in be in Top 5 consistently as they would have menu from raising board
They would get a return on investment with the riches available down south

Fact Sky want Celtic and Rangers as its box office and its Everton and Blackburn and Fulham and QPR who don't want additional competition for Europe and also the relegation places .

Lets be honest Celtic have the capacity to be as big as any of current EPl clubs but limited by market forces {Ed001's Note - how is it facts? Give it a rest, it is conjecture how you would do, certainly wouldn't be in the top 5 because of your fanbase. Any more delusional nonsense about how Sky desperately want you in England etc I am just going to delete. Sky want 4 Old Firm games a year, they don't care about you moving to England, they can make more from you being up there.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Every Scotsman I've ever met is deeply proud to be Scottish, so why do you even care about the English leagues? Surely you'll be happier staying north of the border and leaving our 'wee' clubs to fight it out amongst ourselves.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fact celtic only get 60,000 for OF games and another fact IT AINT GOING TO HAPPEN. It is getting really boring now you can rabbit till the cows come home but please do it on your own boards and leave this one for some proper banter

Agree0 Disagree0

And another quick FACT before I go you never mention the diddy teams that regularly punt you out of europe

Agree0 Disagree0

Every scots man is deeply proud to be scottish yet half of them live, work and breath in engalnd ! cant be that proud can you?

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's hope the residents of Scotlandshire get their wish and become independent. That would instantly mean that all the scroungers on benefits would need to reapply as they would no longer be a part of the UK and would therefore mean they would no longer be entitled to many of the handouts they already receive and would have to pay for their own Iron Bru in future. It would also put an end to the childish notion of the two smallest big clubs in the world joining the EPL, happy days! Rebuild the wall and make them pay to get in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Scotland pays its way in the union.And London gets more hand outs,and is the most subsidised area off the UK.Its time that the English read the Gers report.And find out who is subsidising who.Also Barnett does not take into account,the off set off oil and gas revenue,that would be Scottish.If the nation was Independant.Sorry to get political on you.But I am sick off these English people bringing it up,in a football forum.And I feel pretty let down,with the Ed for printing them.Just thought that I would let you know,the other side of the argument.Ally {Ed001's Note - and when would you get the opportunity to point out that Scotland's oil and gas more than pays Scotland's keep, if I didn't post them? The only reason that Scotland has been held in the Union is the oil and gas, it is worth too much.}

Agree0 Disagree0

And what happens when it runs out. What you going to do for an armed forces, salmond will put 100's of thousands out of work matey including 14500+ in faslane when he gets rid of nucs 4k in rosyth when the carriers move south etc etc do you think oil will pay for all that without your taxes going through the roof, free prescriptions forget that as well, you won't be able to afford to have a pint and watch footy that will be taxed to the hilt, heho though you'll be healthy as fook. PS get used to the euro it will be your currency soon

Agree0 Disagree0

The drugs have been paid for.So that is not even a valid argument. And the armed forces argument is notr even valid. Its the unionists that are shutting RAF bases down up in the Highlands. And that is why the Russian fleet, got so close off our coast.10 days before Xmas,to shelter from a storm. The ecomony will be built up,when the oil is gone. And according to Cameron,on his last trip to Aberdeen. He said that there is plenty off it left. And that is why he is trying so hard to keep Scotland in the union.Even when it means cosying up to Milaband.Brown inviting Thatcher to number 10,was the last straw for some Scots.Cameron poking his nose into the referndum debate, will be enough to lose them 1000 off voters. How dare they try and go against my democratic rights as a voter. When I voted for the SNP,to hold the referndum under my terms. And they got elected, and should be left in peace,to do just that.In any other domocratic nation, this would never happen. What happened to the rights,of the Scottish electarit? We gave the SNP the authority,to hold the referendum in our name. For them to meddle in our affairs, goes against our civil liberties.Ally

Agree0 Disagree0

Armed forces not even an arguement tell that to the thousands of people who live and work and rely on them,Raf bases have been replaced by army so thats punted that one pal, if the economy is built up when oil runs out what happens next are you saying you'll have built up enough resources to survive for ever without it. The drugs have been paid for ok so you've paid for drugs forever have you never needing to restock? Think you've been on them pal. I agree Ca person should keep his beak out, the SNP were doing a good enough job of losing the vote by themselves, and before you ask i live in Scotland and have done for 32 years. Anyway back to football the SPL is still carp

Nah, can't see it. At Wolves, his supreme physique and amusing celebrations make him a popular figure. Please don't allow this to happen to him.
