Harry redknapp's wife is set to be tempted into a late career in the premier league. Chances of a striker arriving at the lane seem slim so harry redknapp sees his wife as the perfect replacement after ones admitting that his missus could of scored a chance that darren bent missed. Mrs redknapp is set to be offered a 2-year contract at £55000 a week, making her one of the highest paid players at the club

Wow, a whole million? DJ Campbell isn't worth a whole million, the trigger clause in his contract was an April Fools joke but he believed it was true, it's actually a Fiver, but only if Blackpool have some change.
----------------------------------------------------
andy carroll was brought for 35 million, he scored 13 goals this season, dj scored 13 too, he's worth at least 5 million, unfortunately the clause means we'll only get 1.25 million

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Lmao, you think DJ is worth £5m, i'm guessing you're still on the blue pills? Try the Red one's instead.

Agree1 Disagree0

DJ Campbell did very well for Blackpool last season and scored some very important goals. He scored goals to help Blackpool to get to the play-offs and win the play off final and the guy above the guy is wrong and right. Worth £3-£3.5m, but Blackpool will only get £1.25m

Bristol City are expected to accept Leicester's bid of 5.3 million for Maynard if he doesn't sign a contract before next Friday. The offer has been on the table since Monday but BC are keeping their options open as they are getting fed up with NM and his agent. Should sign for Leicester before Real Madrid friendly.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Having read the story published today, outlining that it was Leicester who pulled out of the CMS deal, not the player, then i believe that Maynard is virtually en route. It makes no odds how many times BC fans say otherwise, the signs all point to him moving and until he signs the contract he obviously doesn't want to sign, a move is possible, probable even.

man city to banned from champions league because of their 10 yr 400million pound sponsorship deal with eithad witch is bein funded by guess who? sheki mansour uefa will anounce soon

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I thought they had three more years to "sort things out". Anyway, City can always go to the courts and point out that the UEFA "fair play" rules are designed to prevent an upstart like City competing with the chosen few who have benefited from the entirely oligarchical "European Champions League" which was designed to ensure that the rich would get richer and no other team outside the ( self ) chosen few ( the G14 ) could ever break the oligopoly. Tic Toc.

Agree1 Disagree0

Etihad is run by mansour's half brother and as a company hasnt made a profit for 7 years , so it is a family affair and as etihad havent made a profit for 7 years , where has 400 million come from ?? its all very dodgy and breaks many uefa new rules , mainly on the grounds of the family link. {Ed003's Note - Not sure if it does}

Agree0 Disagree0

The general rule of thumb with stadium naming rights is the price they receive should be approximately ten times that of the club's most valuable player. It's not an exact science, but as long as Citeh can prove that one of their many stars (Tevez for example) is worth £40m then receiving £400m is within the confines of UEFA law.

The above makes Arsenal's £100m received look like they got ripped off by Emirates.

I have no affiliation with Arsenal or Citeh as I'm a Liverpool fan.

Millwall have confirmed that they are interested in signing Jason Puncheon from Southampton, he was left out of their pre-season tour and Millwall have enquired to the Saints to see how much it would cost to bring Jason back to The Den. Southampton confirmed that the Lions are the only club to have spoken to them about Puncheon.

----------------------------------------------

Southampton have not confirmed anything about speaking to any clubs about Puncheon? I doubt he will go to a Championship club anyway - I think he and Saints would rather him go to a Premier League team.

It does seem chelsea are laying at desperations door when it comes to their rumours It appears their snidley hijacking of frank arnesan has come back to haunt them? They appeared very smug at the time and they seem to be heading that way again Although this time levy is aware of their back stabbing ways, levy will not sell to chelsea at any price which is why modric probably wont hand in a request As for sandro, he was on t.v today, he spoke about how a move to madrid wouldn't interest him at the minute, so if he ain't interested in madrid he certainly won't be interested in the west londons plastic club, if levy and redknapp decide to sell modric it's going to be to a spanish club? And talking spanish clubs it could well be that spurs will offer cash and dos santos for mata and as for the forward they should be signing, the player in question is still in the copa americas

Believable3 Unbelievable3

This is business not sport and Levy is a businessman. 35m for Modric permits significant rebuild and improved Spurs, so he doesnt care where he goes if in fact he goes

Isn't it so sad to see so many people living in nottingham , leicester and southampton cant understand english. NM is not going to any championship club for any amount of money. But you are able to see him twice each when he scores against your teams

No chance, why would maynard wanna lower himself to a club like southampton? the chaiman also said that he wouldn't sale to another champtionship club fact plus can't see you lot folking out over 5 million

I'm a Southampton Fan. And I know for a fact that only Leicester would be dumb enough to pay that asking price. But still I don't think that will happen, the only reason why Southampton fans mention Maynard on the site is because they have heard it as a rumour and just like to pass on the Info. Also I don't think Maynard would lower himself he did join our club, Its not like Bristol City finished in the top 10 now is it. You guys finished one place higher than Portsmouth who where in financial trouble and who also struggled to fill a bench. No club is going to pay 5 Million for an unproven Premier League striker now are they, I Would rather have someone who has as much potential and is younger like Juskiewitz (Spelling). I think Nottingham and Leicester fans would'nt want their club to sign Maynard for that price and would rather target cheaper Premeir League players.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Only the brave and the stupid are suggesting that Maynard will stay at BC now, the same (Bristol) newspaper that published the story of Leicester pulling out today published a retraction - why would they do that i wonder? Could it be that they know a little something and why have the odds on Maynard moving to Leicester suddenly been reduced? Do you dullard BC fans know more than the nation's bookies?

You're constant whinging and sulking is nothing short of hero worship. You just hate the fact that your only decent player has all but packed his bags and you know you're going to be lumbered with nothing once he's gone. You're meant to have a sugar daddy backing you, former chairman turned major shareholder, and yet you're losing £11m per season and that same (Bristol) newspaper says you can't buy players until you sell because you're skint.

Bristol City are no more than minnows, swimming with the sharks.

Not sick of it at all. I don't think it's arrogance. I think it's an example of great team spirit from a club who for the past 10 years or so have not had the greatest of fortunes but their fans have continued to support week in week out and the club have bonded and come stronger. I sense a feeling of fear and worry amongst some Crystal Palace fans with comments about Brighton. Brighton will finish in the top 10 next season. I would be VERY surprised if Crystal Palace finished any higher than 18th.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Brighton are a team on the up, they will establish themselves in the championship

Agree5 Disagree3

Swindon fan, people shouldn't write Brighton off, they will do well next year, they were the stand out team in legue 1 last year, as Norwich were the year before, with our old club captain they have a great leader and organiser, they will be ok next year and will go from strength to strength, with the feel good factor of a new stadium and bigger crowds their financial clout will grow, good luck to them

Agree6 Disagree2

The Swindon fan who posted this comment is an example of a proper football fan. I wish Paulo DiCanio all the best in his first job. Hope he's a new Gus Poyet.

Agree3 Disagree0

Likewise. I'm a Brighton fan and like to say a 'proper' fan - not liking this bitterness to and from Brighton fans on this site. Football matches are won on the field not on arguments or debates on which team deserves the most or has the bigger ground. It makes your club look small and if you were a true supporter you'd never want to do that to your club. Pleasure reading both your comments (Swindon and Leeds fan) best of luck next season.

This poll is the only thin Liverpool will win this season, i think its a bit of same 'ol same ol' down at Anfield with a different manager with the same 'ol strategy buying average over rated players for top dollar. between Jan and til now Kenny will have spent roughly 100 million once the Downing transfer goes through and still they dont own a world class player or anyone withthe potential to become one

Agree1 Disagree0

Why do people hate liverpool all of a sudden?

Agree0 Disagree1

Cos there worried. we have not made the champions league for 2 seasons wow were not a big club no more cos we have not made it like 3 times in the last 10 years and spurs are cos they have made it one time hahaha you lot make me giggle

Agree0 Disagree2

Clearly these muppets know nothing about football. I don't give a toss that they are obsessed with takin digs at Liverpool, but to say Anfield is a library tells me that they really don't have a clue.

You can say what you want about our, team, our manager and our prospects next season, it's your opinion, but you cant argue against cold, hard facts. Liverpool and Anfield are known the world over (even recognised by the smarter fans from teams we dont even like) as one of the most iconic, atmospheric and awe inspiring grounds in football.

Don't be a pleb all ur life Least have the balls to admit some things

Agree1 Disagree2

Im a palace fan and even i can admit that liverpool are still a big club they might not have made it into the cl in acouple of years but they've got some quality players and have got a great history along with being one of the biggest clubs in the world in terms of trophys and fans across the world

we are just as good if not better than norwich when we were promoted
brighton finished with 95 points the same as norwich when they were promoted but brighton finished with a better goal difference in a harder league. so i can savely say you will be seeing us in the play offs this season you muppet GET ON THE GUS BUS

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Brighton will start with a flurry, like most newly promoted sides do. They'll be all over-excited about being in the Championship and they'll probably win a few games that'll push them up the early season table quite quickly.

But once Winter arrives, and the fixture lists get complicated, and the results start to wain a bit, and the fans decide to stay at home instead of watching a game in the Rain, then we'll see what they're made of and i think we'll also see them slide down the table. I'd say a mid/lower half finish is probable. The playoffs will be a real reach and Poyet won't see out the season, he's looking up and he won't go up with Brighton.

Agree2 Disagree2

How exactly was the league harder than when Norwich were in it? Surely finishing with a higher goal difference means it is an easier league? When Norwich were down there Saints and Charlton had just been relegated also, Leeds were really strong, Millwall were a real handful as well all the usual suspects in this years league bar posh who were in championship. This season, no Norwich, Leeds, Millwall. Posh were as last season and performed as expected, Wednesday and Plymouth were awful. Brighton won the league because the league was weaker.

Don't expect to do what Norwich did. It is an incredibly difficult thing to do and there is a reason why it only happens like every 10 years. Even Fulham and Wigan couldn't do it and they had big money behind them. Cardiff have been trying to get out of the Championship for years now and they had a brilliant team this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Time will tell, most of us are expecting a top half finish, optimistic about our chances of a top 6 finish and just looking forward to watching good football in a decent stadium.
There are a number of "bigger" clubs in the division, but little QPR won it last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

'Little' QPR? They are one of the richest teams on earth.

Don't put pressure on yourself to win, don't bill yourself as one of the contenders, everyone will up their game against you. Do your own thing and enjoy it. I'm looking forward to the Brighton v Palace games, should be good.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, little QPR, average attendance 15,000, in a championship winning season.
Even Palace get that many, while fighting relegation.
Are you saying QPR spent more assembling their promotion winning squad than Middlesborough, Leeds, Leicester, Forest etc spent assembling theirs?
Rich owners don't always put a shedload in, and in QPR's case most of what they have put in has paid off existing debt.

There is a difference in the players liverpool and man u can attract but that is because of the decline in form and league position, as a liverpool fan i would love to see sjneider flop but as a football fan i cant see it happening lol the premier league is a very phsical league so he will need to toughen up, but united fans remember he wasnt great at madrid. KK is rebuilding a squad liverpool need some depth and a squad that can compete for 38 games not just half a season and how you can call henderson and carrol flops, both these players are england internatioinals weras phil jones is not ........i think everyone needs to look at the big picture neville, beckham, butt, scholes, giggs all unproven look what happened to them in there debut season so i wiouldnt write young players off just yet regardless of what team they play for

YNWA

But then u payed 35mil for carrol who is already a flop and we payed 16mil for jones who is yet to shine

Brighton FC Rumours:

Tony Bloom is expected to delve into his pocket again this week with various bids after missing out on Owen Garvan from Crystal Palace.

Another Palace player, Calvin Andrew will be the subject of a £750,000 bid as Poyet hopes to make one final addition to his front line. Should Palace reject the offer for Andrew, Poyet will turn his attention to free agent Shefki Kuqi. Wages will not be a problem as the arrival of Craig Mackail-Smith has seen the removal of a wage structure at GAMEX Arena.

Another potential addition to the Seagulls squad is Valerien Ismael. Poyet is keen to tempt him out of retirement with an offer of a £25,000 per week contract.

The final player on Poyet's radar is new Reading captain Jobi McAnuff. It is believed that a £5,000,000 bid will be handed to Reading in the near future

Ed, any idea why United fans seem to have such a chip on their shoulders? am a Norwich fan and obviously living in South East so am surrounded by Man U fans who just seem to hate everyone, i may be only young and don't know much about history but a lot of these guys are the same age as me, I assume it's a rivalry thing with Chelsea and Arsenal, Liverpool's old successes story and Man city because they are Neighbors but what about the rest of us, why so scathing towards everyone, their hatred towards other clubs and their fans is unbelievable and which I don't seem to get or see from other clubs fans, I would appreciate you posting this Ed as want to see what everyone's thoughts are as to why a majority of united fans seem to act in this sad way? and give other United fans a chance to comment. Cheers Ed. oh and Canaries for top 10 finish this year?

Believable6 Unbelievable1

United fans dont actually hate anyone? its the other way round? everyone is just jealous cause we are officaially the greatest team in the country. and been so for too long now. we probably are the only fans that cheer on the likes of arsenal etc in europe against foreign opposition, i cant say that they all do the same.

Agree0 Disagree3

As a blue from Manchester I will give you my opinion, The majority of reds only get to go to one game on average in there lifetime, obviously because of the massive ques, thus meaning they have to cram a lifetime of football experience into a day trip to old stretford or to an away game closer to their house.
This is why you see so many "reds" in the megastore, smoking in the toilets, getting into fights and basically being tw@s. Looking for football stories so they can tell their grandkids about. Isnt it weird how many reds have a granddad who used to live in Manchester? from the amount i have met, it seems the entire generation of grand dads all moved out of Manchester during the busby days. Unlike other fans who would experience the above over a lifetime of supporting there team through being a season ticket holder, i feel sorry for the rags who have to cram it all in one day.

Agree1 Disagree0

You may be young whoever posted this article but u r so spot on, i as a man city fan from manchester really cannot understand the rags hatred for any other club barring the mighty Man Utd doing well, sorta shows there depth for the game, arrogance stems from ferguson, i am 42 years old and rags fans have got even worse no that there noisy neighbours ie my beloved city are snapping at there heals and boy oh boy do they not like the very though of little old city doing something ? course we will get u bought the league ? aint united and cheslski done that but that deemed ok, face facts football is changing and other teams are bombing into the so called big 4 .. man city fan who goes

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Jul 2011 06:54:16
Rumour has it Brighton and Pompey fan's are giving it large, thinking they can sign all these players.
1. Brighton are a small fish in a big pond, a new stadium doesn't make you Man United.
2. Since when have Pompey had the money to spend £3million one 1 player?
3. On another note, Southampton. Not in financial trouble I know, some decent players I know. But. Having just come up from League 1 I can't see them taking the Championship by storm. Sign 1 or 2 decent players and a midtable finish may be on the cards.

Last but not least that leaves Reading, seasoned Championship team, close to promotion last year. Keep their best players and it will be another season at the top, lose them and they are going to struggle.

I think this should give all the South Coast clubs a little reality check. Coming from a Bolton fan who is fed up of all the dreaming fans from Brighton and Portsmouth

Believable1 Unbelievable2

What a load of rubbish

Agree2 Disagree0

How did Blackpool get on when they got promoted from League One during the 2008/09 season? Also, how did Norwich City get on last season in the Championship after they had just got promoted from League one during the 2009/10 season?

Agree2 Disagree0

To whoever wrote this - how did Blackpool do in the Championship in 2009/10 season after they got promoted from League One in the 2008/09 season? Also... How did Norwich City get on last season in the Championship after they were promoted from League One the season before?

Agree1 Disagree0

Small fish in a big pond??? I assume you mean Brighton can move around, explore with freedom and with ease and have a wide open space to live in. Coz if a big fish was in a small pond it would get a bit crampt wouldnt it?

Agree2 Disagree1

Dreaming is the best bit of pre-season, Brighton fans have good reason to be optimistic. It isn't because of the players we have signed, it is because of the manager we have.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jul 2011 00:55:35
As a Brighton fan, even i can see that most of these rumours are being made up for fun Sure we've been promoted, the stadium should help attract some half decent players, Gus Poyet may also have some ways of attracting them, but anyone can see we wont sign any extremely top names like Parker and Alan Smith.
As for those saying we will get relegated, we proved twice that we can stand our ground against championship sides in the FA cup with a win against Portsmouth AND Watford, as well as outclassing teams in league one, so we should easily stay up, not saying we'll win, but we should definately stay up.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Mate, Alan Smith isn't a top name. Had you said "merc touting himself to anyone dumb enough to pay his ridiculous wage demands" i'd have agreed. Smith's best days were a lifetime ago, he wants a payday now, i really hope Leeds get him.

Agree1 Disagree0

Burnley murdered a number of Premier League sides during their promotion season when they faced them in the League and FA Cups - didn't stop those sides giving them a good hiding in the Premier League though. Cup games are a world apart from the league, you can't weigh your forthcoming season up based on a couple of fluke results. Let's see where you are at Easter.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wants a pay day are you an idiot, if we (leeds) do sign smith he will be taking a massive pay cut. he is on £60,000 a week at newcastle, and still has a year left. our strict wage structure means he wont get paid more than £16,000 a week. smith has made his money been on big contracts at newcastle, man ud and leeds where he started his career. his last move will be for footballing reasons. garyd MOT

Agree3 Disagree0

If his last move were for footballing reasons, surely he'd go to a decent side? As for his wages, does Ken confide in you or are you just another dreamer who likes to say "we" when he means "them"? You have no idea how much bignose will be paid, no idea at all, all you can do is try to defend the move (it's not going to happen btw) so as to make yourself feel better.

If Smith were so desperate to return to the place where the fans were last seen spitting at him, surely he'd have signed by now. Clutching at straws pal, your season is over before it's begun, go sit in the corner with Forest and Brighton, you can all dream together.

Agree0 Disagree1

You do seam a little bitter mate, alan smith might not sign for leeds but my point was it probably wont be a move just about money. by the way he still goes to elland road to watch leeds when he is not playing. garyd MOT

Agree1 Disagree0

He goes to watch Leeds when he's not playing? I guess he never left then seeing as he never gets a kick. Quality signing that mate, hope you get ten more like him.

Valerian ismael is an ex player for palace he's been playing in germany and is now retired.
Calvin andrew. Andy doorman. Owen garvan. Alesandre n daiye. These are all fringe players to the first team.
Palace have only signed 3 players so far. They have a small squad and have lost danns dajalli. Gardner. Bennet. Davis. Barrett. Counago.and kemy augustien. Since last season the squad was small last year we have a brilliant academy but desperately need to get more players in with experience especially straight down the spine of the team striker. Midfield and centre half.

If brighton want calvin andrew for 750 k sell him as for them getting kuqi good luck to them he signed for newcastle and hardly played. Jobi mcanuf won't go to brighton its a backward step and he's ex palace.

I just wanted to voice my opinions on stewart downing who i think is an absolute disgrace' villa spend 12 million on him when he still had 5 month left to recover from the broken leg he sustained and payed this guys wages without battin an eyelid the guy is so disloyal ' i cant believe he has'nt stopped to think about the loyalty villa showed in him. I also believe villa have got an unbelievable price for him after he only had one good season. I really hope now villa sign n'zogbia who is twice the player downing is and only half the price.
