If Cardiff can afford his wages, Malky Mackay might express interest in the former Hull City midfielder Jimmy Bullard after they terminated his contract.

Also, Manchester City midfielder Vladimir Weiss could join Cardiff as he can link up with former Rangers man Kenny Miller and play with fellow Slovakian Filip Kiss, but it's again an issue about his wages and whether he wishes to drop to the Championship. Roberto Mancini doesn't want him to return to Scotland and would prefer him to join a club in England, Italy or Spain.

Luke Chambers is still a possibility for MM's side, but highly unlikely as Forest have offered him a new contract which he is keen to accept.

This is not a rumour:
Seeing as most of the players being talked about are forwards I was thinking who are the Champioships best defenders. I'll get the ball rolling with my top 5. Mills, St Ledger, Gunter, Fonte, Hobbs. I'd like to know who you think is up there.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

HE'S GOIN PREM BUT WAT BOUT SCOTTY DANNNN

Matt Mills is so good, he was dropped in the most recent fixture when St. Ledger made his first appearance of the season and was at fault for a goal. And you include Hobbs... are you a Leicester fan, but any chance?

Southampton have no interest in Bari striker Erik Huseklepp & despite rumours to the contrary he hasn't even registered on their radar.

They are however concentrating their efforts on bringing in two more players shortly and an announcement is thought to be imminent.

It's easy to criticise Oyston for what he is doing at Blackpool but what is your alternative. Blackpool have a limited catchment area and therefore a limited support base. Compared with the state the club was in when Oyston took over we are in clover at the moment. A season in the premiership for the first time for thirty five years has given the club the opportunity to upgrade its facilities, improve the ground and the training facilities and to try and run the club on a commercial footing. Blackpool is not a natural premiership club because it just doesn't have the resources to maintain that standard without crippling itself.
If there were to be an alternative to Oyston they would have to be considered, but where are such people? The club will only stay even at its current level by being run on a sound financial footing .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well they have got paid well for FAILURE havnt they? Parachute payments, selling your best players (Adam left out of that statement) no wonder you are "in clover". You are where you belong. Enjoy next seasons FAILURE payment. {Ed003's Note - And the two more years "failure" payments after that dont forget}

Agree0 Disagree0

Blackpool are after John Fleck from Rangers on loan.He is only 19,and has good ability. And is played wide left. But Holy might convert him into a play making centre midfielder.Just like Adam was.He can play as a striker to.

What on earth have Southampton fans got to be bitter about. I can hardly remember a better time for the club both on and off the field. However, it does annoy me whenever I read of Portsmouth signing another player given all their debts that were just written off affecting tax payers, local businesses and charities (but not the wages of the under-performing players thank goodness)

do me a favour mate we all know why your having a pop at portsmouth on here, half the football league has entered administration at some point, I dont hear you mention them, all of the charities will'' if they have'nt already be paid in full and most of the small local busness's, pompey have raised thousands of pounds for charities over the years. as for the taxman he robs me every month for the goverment who waste millions every year. stop making out your whiter than white get a life, Oh and just hope your owner does'nt pull the plug. it would be interesting to see what southampton do then'' would't it

Fortune, Ibanez and Bednar are set to leave the Baggies on various types of deals with possible transfer targets being linked to the midlands outfit include Andy Johnson from Fulham, Gary Hooper from Celtic, and either Dann or Ridgewell From Birmingham. Hodson is said to be happy with his options in midfield and feels their is not to much work to be done in the defence area with a centre half the only requirement. The attacking options are thought to be the managers main area of concern.

It is understood that the arrival of burnleys new striker will now see Southampton spend big on Jay rod the amount to be 4.5m plus a player

Believable0 Unbelievable1

If Saints are only willing to pay £4.5 million cash, the player would have to be worth at least £1.5 million to even get Burnley interested. Is Lambert worth £1.5 million because Conolly certainly isn't?

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2011 20:25:48
leicester have got no chance of signing lallana, if they offered 20mill saints wouldnt sell hes probaly our most important player, theres only a few clubs in the prem that would have a chance of signing him anyway but he loves the club and wants to be part of our return to the prem where the club belongs

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Every player has his price. Stop deluding yourself that he loves Southampton.

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually agree with most of the original post, but yes every player does have his price, his is prob somewher around the same as Alex Chamberlain if not more £12-15 million. Southampton could hold out for that no problem. They are are very financially strong club.
So yes prob only a few prem clubs could prise him away.

Agree0 Disagree0

I expect virtually every premier league club could 'prise' him away. All this rubbish about this player or that player loving his club and wanting to die there is just that - rubbish.

Footballers are generally nomadic, they may say that they want to move on for a new challenge but they're basically hired guns. Ask Cesc Fabregas, or Carlos Tevez if they loved their respective clubs up until the day they quit for a payday elsewhere. Ask Shane Long too... some dullard said he was the kind of bloke who'd sign a new deal just to give his club a payday when he left... ha he didn't look back did he?

Footballers move on, fact. Clubs don't like it and try to stop them, fact. Clubs generally allow players to move once they get a transfer request as it means the player really doesn't want to be there.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2011 20:10:35
Liverpool are in talks with Bolton over a £12m move for Gary Cahill. David N'Gog is likely to move to the reebok as part of that deal.Dani Pacheco is likely to become 4th choice after Suarez,Carroll and Kuyt, this may be an area they strengthen in January depending on injuries and a how Pacheco performs. Liverpool are planning one final big signing this summer which may even go down to deadline day, Edin Hazard is a player Kenny and Comolli have been watching for some time and they believe with Lille losing some of their best players such as Rami,Gervinho and Cabaye Hazard may be convinced to leave a club that looks to be sliding and try make a name for himself at a club that is clearly moving in the right direction. Liverpool have already offloaded Konchesky,Jovanovic,Ayala and soon to be Degen who looks set to join QPR on a free transfer but the club are still working desperatley hard to try and find new homes for Alberto Aquilani,Joe Cole,Christian Poulsen,Emiliano Insua,Sotirios Krygiakos and Nabil El Zhar. Liverpool need to offload one or two of these before they move for Hazard and I expect Aquilani will join Fiorentina or AC Milan for around £8.5m a few days before the window closes the Italian clubs have been playing for time to drive his price down which club he goes to will depend on whether or not AC make a move for Fiorentina playmaker Montolivo, lets not forget Liverpool were asking for £13.5m at the start of the summer and Aquilani has looked fantastic pre-season also scoring the winner for Italy against Spain two weeks ago but it's the plethora of midfielders available at Liverpool and how they fit in that is forcing Alberto out rather than his ability. Liverpool have Gerrard,Lucas,Meireles and this summer they have added Adam and Henderson also players like Spearing,Shelvey and Coady are trying to break through. Joe Cole is another player who could be fantastic for another club but he just doesn't fit in at Liverpool it's like trying to put a triangle block into a circle hole if he wants to play in the hole he will have to beat off competition from Suarez,Gerrard and Meireles to the spot which is unlikely and I think he has lost the pace to play out wide but I would back him for club's player of the year at a number of premiership club's, he is a great player but unfortunatley for him we have a vast array of riches in the position he plays, I hope I am wrong and he cements a first team place maybe wide right because had he not been so plagued by injuries his whole career we could be talking about one of the greatest English footballers ever along with a certain player who never should have left merseyside and was also plagued with injuries he is sitting in the reserves at United now. Gary Cahill will offer defensive solidity and if I were to pick a defensive partnership for this year it would be Cahill-Agger sorry Carragher. Edin Hazard just offers much more variety to our attack, he can play left or right wing like Downing and can stick out wide or cut in, he has pace, tricks and good delivery.Downing will turn out to be a great signing despite his £20m price tag but is one natural winger enough the answer is no while Maxi,Henderson,Kuyt and maybe even Suarez could play wide none of them are wingers and Hazard is the man Kenny wants to fill this berth he would allow Kuyt to play more of a strikers role which will be needed throughout the season as either Carroll or Suarez are bound to get injured at some point.

Saints manager Nigel Adkins also wants a centre half to bolster his defence and has a list of names that he will try.

Top of the list is Kaspars Gorkss. Saints have had a £750,000 bid rejected by QPR last week but have come back with a £800,000 plus want-away winger Jason Puncheon, and QPR are considering accepting the offer.
If a deal is reached, Southampton will announce that the deal for Gorkss was agreed with the fee for Gorkss cash only, but Puncheon WILL be part of the deal and not sold seperately to QPR.

This will be done because Nicola Cortese doesn't want the fans to think that Saints aren't getting the best deal for Puncheon, but indeed they are.

Deal could be done over the weekend.

Lmao at leicster fans thinking they're getting lallana for £4-£5m. Haha Lallana is far better and more valuable to us than chamberlain and he went for £12m +. I highly doubt we would sell Lallana if someone came in with £10m - £15m. Yes he is that good. Chelsea are disgusting, as are city. I will be soo soo happy when uefa make an example of these ugly clubs.
Lets hope real clubs like liverpool, spurs, arsenal step up and put these pathetic clubs in their places, chelsea mid table/bottom, man city 3rd division.

Your bubble will burst eventually trust me fair play your doing good...but so are derby , and there fans are not saying were the best team please look , how are you better then west ham please tell me , your not bigger , your havent got more fans and your team is not better , you play nice football but i dont think you will finish in the top 6

Funny that because before chelsea were challenging for the league but were playing sexy football under Guillet, Vialli, Ranieri chelsea were a popular team for the neutrals. Funny how people change when their own teams position is challenged. Its obvious you're a bitter Liverpool fan. Get over yourself, you havn't been a proper team for years, to make it worse you're owned by Americans......now thats what you call 'Selling Out'

Agree0 Disagree0

Selling out how do u work that?face it your behind liverpool man u and arsenal in terms of club size, your a joke.weres your european cups?

Love how many people are bitter towards west ham when there is no real reason to be If we sell Parker it is because he wants to play in the prem and we will hopefully sign someone to replace him whether it be Barton (can't see it happening myself). We have already signed Nolan, Faye and Matty Taylor to build the squad in what will be an exciting but tough season. Worry about your own team mate

My understanding what that Southampton paid all debts fully, having rearranged the mortgage. It was never anything like what Portsmouth owed just a smallish overdraft.
Portsmouth's creditors agreed to take 20p in the pound. Why? I don't know, it should never have been allowed. And, don't forget that they owed the government huge amounts. So effectively they stole from you and I basically to get the FA Cup.

A BITTER STAIN'S FAN

-----------------------------------------------------------

What on earth have Southampton fans got to be bitter about. I can hardly remember a better time for the club both on and off the field. However, it does annoy me whenever I read of Portsmouth signing another player given all their debts that were just written off affecting tax payers, local businesses and charities (but not the wages of the under-performing players thank goodness)

There are so many ill informed people around. Yes southampton were in administration and weeks away from being liquidated. BUT unlike portsmouth there was no CVA as they were bought by a swiss billionaire (rip), who paid off ALL their debts. They are not trying to buy all of Burnley's players, they are strengthening an already strong squad of players so dont be bitter Fact, Burnley is not the club southampton are. I for one think they have a strong chance of promotion if not this season then next. If Burnley are such a big club then why are you worried about keepig hold of your players?

Brighton fan (yeah of course you are)

I have just heard a radio report that the USA international player Stuart Holden has just signed for Glasgow Rangers... is this fact? I thought he was not only injured but tied up long term at Bolton?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

It was Bocanegra and Bodeya that singed.Who are USA internationals.the first one is there captain.Holden would cost to much money. And is not that good anyway. This is why Scotland never gave him a chance at any level.

Wolves are said to be 'very insecure' financially after an independent auditor (my brother works for) which cant be named looked into the books. Cements the rumours that Jarvis, Doyle and Fletcher are all on there way out
------------------------------------------------

HAHA we know this is lies straight away. A baggie wrote this, and we all know baggies are incapable of work, you only have to look around sandwell to know that I know they'd love Fletcher to be sold. That way he cant score against them AGAIN :)

Blackpool will wait until all the decent players have been signed up, we'll probably end up loosing some players to lower league sides and all because of that tight fisted a$$e hole of a chairman the King of Clowns Karl Oyston,
I see Holloway getting so frustrated he'll resign a week after deadline day, the fans will call for Oystons head and he'll find he's unable to get within a mile of the ground, due to the hate he'll recieve.

Oyston OUT You fecking Clown

Believable0 Unbelievable0

But Oyston isn't as tight-fisted as Burnley's board - at least you have signed top players like Phillips and Ferguson.

Agree0 Disagree0

You want to know how to run a Club badly..?

See Coventry City Football Club. Two free transfer goalkeepers during the summer. Transfer embargo last season. No money this. Three 17 year olds in our midfield on Tuesday night again. If you think Oyston is so terrible, you want to take your head out of the clouds and remember where Blackpool were a few years ago. As someone has pointed out to you, you have paid the wages of Phillips and Ferguson. Wind your neck in, my club is dying on its a*se.

Ha ha did BlackFool lose last night?

Kenny Dalglish is set to play the 1 7 2 formation away to arsenal due to so many midfielders at the club

Believable1 Unbelievable0

No wonder dimmy doglead is crap if he plays 1 7 2 formation. this adds up to 10 . you need 11 PLAYERS to start a game you numpty... {Ed001's Note - you seem to have forgotten that a keeper is not counted in the formation. Now who is a numpty?}

Why is harry redknapp saying we would be better off if we sell modric and get four or five in? Has he lost it? Apart from infuriating us spurs fans ( maybe mr levy aswell but he could be behind it all) and all the media bombardment and speculation will become exactly what we dont want at start of season.
How about spurs keep modric and buy some quality players instead harry, just like you told us before and all summer.
If levy intends to sell then not to chelsea please, if modric wants a big club let him go to man utd, real madrid etc, proper big clubs with self generated money.
Harry did say we are close to a few signings though, probably yakubu, papa diop and david james

spurs guvnor

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Well its pretty clear Modric doesnt want to play for us any more. He isnt playing tonight (convenient) get shot of the rat face. He will never be bigger than the club. So you are playing Mr Manager again are you? Spurs Guvnor? haha you wished. You havnt got a clue.

Agree0 Disagree0

Typical yod gets one season in cl and thinks he knows it all ,real madrid owe so much money to the banks .chelsea are a big club get over it .why would you want to keep a player who came out and said he wanted to leave it wouldnt happen at a big club lol
