Oldham are holding out for £500k for Chris Taylor, the fact that the council have bailed the cash strapped club out does not mean that Latics are in a position to turn down reasonable offers. There are strings attached to the money from the council, it must be spent on the ground and not the squad.

The council have not bailed us out. They have given us the money so we don't sue them for every penny they've got messing up our move to a new stadium. The money recoups what Oldham spent on the land, and obviously a bit more so we don't take legal action. Strings are attached, in that must be used for Stadium, but we are in a position to turn down offers. We've already recieved over £400k in transfer fees this summer, and don't need to sell anyone.

Honestly, anybody who compares ipswich and millwall, it is apples and pears. Millwall is a backwater london club, never won anythin, never produced anything in modern times apart from terry hurlock. Very fine that he is. Somehow in interim you spawned a cup final, where i cheered you on. Not anymore. Ipswich town however, is a club steeped in fair play, and in the modern game, bigger in every single respect, apart from terrys apendage. Now jog on

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What a load of crap. What exactly are Ipswich famous for.Millwall produced Tim Cahill, sherringham, Morison, Hurlock cascarino we got to a cup final, where have Ipswich got to, plod on and watch west ham

Re Wigan news

Again, why would Moses leave Wigan for burnley. He has already said he loves the club and isn't interested in joining QPR. In addition to that, he has been out standout player in preseason

Ben Watson to burnley for 1mil. This has to be the worst yet. He was possibly our most improved player last season and Martinez has personally said he expects big things from him. He's even tipping him to break into the England squad (something I don't agree with)

I believe latics have put a 2mil bid in for Estigarribia of Paraguay and will be signing a relation of cruyffs from Barcelona this week

Finally David jones (ex wolves) is on trial and is expected to sign later this week after his impressive performances in pre season. So much so, hr had the fans singing 'bobby, sign him up) during and after the Preston game yesterday (Sunday)

Oldham Athletic seal £5.7m deal with council to stay at Boundary Park

Oldham council has agreed a £5.7m deal with Oldham Athletic which should secure the club's future in the town. But the club now need to find a development partner and millions more to build a new stand at their crumbling 107-year-old Boundary Park home, we understand.

The deal is on the understanding that some of the money is used for a new North Stand to replace the demolished Lookers Stand. But no actual figures were disclosed.

Mr Corney added that a new stand to replace the current Main Stand would be next on the agenda with improvements to the Chadderton Road End and Rochdale Road stand completing the jigsaw.

No it isn't. Even if we consider that Ipswich's FA Cup, Division 1 (now prem) and UEFA Cup wins on a par with Millwall's early 1900s Western league wins both teams have 9 trophy wins to their name. Do not state fact without actually proving it, or even checking it.

In this seasons npower championship i think West ham will go top and although theyve had great expectations i dont think leicester will come second, i think they will be shocking but i do think hull city will be a suprice package in this years championship and come second, 3rd birmingham 4th reading 5th ipswich 6th blackpool and i think in the play-offs there will be another suprise like last season when swansea were promoted i think blackpool will come straight back up

Believable1 Unbelievable1

No way will Blackpool go straight back up, they have lost their best player in Charlie Adam, and it looks like they are going to lose their striker Dj Campbell. Yous living in Cookoo land.

Apparently some guy thinks you're in cloud cuckoo land about Blackpool but I think you've given a pretty fair assessment of how things may go. I don' suppose this guy was clamouring for Charlie Adam when we bought him or flagging up DJC on loan when he first came to the 'pool but he musn't worry about us , there are one or two little nuggets in these years intake too. {Ed003's Note - Sutherland,by anychance? }

I think Swansea City are going to shock a lot of people. I know they are in a harder league now but they are a great footballing side who have a very intelligent manager in Brendan Rodgers. And before anyone says Blackpool were a good footballing side look what happend to them. I just want to point out that Swansea have a much stronger squad than what Blackpool had when they got promoted. And better quality players all over the pitch, the only Blackpool player that would have got in Swansea side would have been Charlie Adams. {Ed003's Note - Really?}

It appears that Watford have won the race to sign Rotherham striker Adam Le Fondre. Wikipedia has listed him as a Watford player just like Chris Iwelumo before that transfer was confirmed the next day.

----------------------------------------------------

What's the point in making up rubbish that people can check at the click of a button. Wikipedia quite clearly states that he is a ROTHERHAM player NOT a WATFORD player - They are spelt differently unless of course you can't read

He may well sign for Watford but don't make up rubbish when you get caught out so quickly. There is nothing on the Watford Observer website or wikipedia

Lech Poznan forward Artjoms Rudnevs could sign for Leicester City this summer, his agent has revealed.

The Latvian international has expressed his desire to leave the Stadion Miejski this summer, but he has yet to receive any concrete offers.

Even though he is keen on leaving Polish club, the player has started new season in the Ekstraklasa and already scored a hat-trick in Lech's impressive 5:0 win over LKS Lodz.

However, his agent believes that 23 years old front-man could still leave Poznan before the transfer window closes.

Matyas Farkas has even hinted that the £5million-valued Rudnevs could sign for Sven-Goran Eriksson's Leicester.

'We work hard to make the transfer happen with the clubs', Farkas told PFM.

'I do not think that Artjoms will sign for Leicester City, but it remains a possibility.'

'We are in contact with some English clubs, Italian and Spanish. We will know more by Monday or Tuesday, hopefully.'

The big-spending Foxes are still searching for a free-scoring striker, who can operate as a winger and Artjoms Rudnevs do fits that profile.

Sam Allardyce has confirmed that Scott Parker will leave West Ham - but only if the club receive an offer to match their valuation of the English international.

Allardyce, speaking this lunchtime with Talksport confirmed that Parker will be sold before the end of the transfer window deadline on condition that the club receive the £7million fee they are holding out for.

"We haven't had a bid at all for Scott at the moment, " he said. "That can all change when we get into August because people start picking up injuries, players get transferred more and more from different clubs and the mayhem will continue until 31st August.

"If the right club comes with the right money we are going to release Scott because he wants to play in the Premier League and we do need the finances that [his sale] will bring.

"At the moment the money we have spent has been provided by the owners which I'm very grateful for. It's not coming from within the club bt their own private money so they are backing me in that sense 100 per cent."

Allardyce also revelaed that Parker's two fellow English internationals - Carlton Cole and Robert Green - look set to start the season at the Boleyn, at the very least least.

"We've certainly only received a bid for Carlton Cole which was good enough for us to accept, " he added. "In terms of Robert Green we had what I considered an insult of a bid from West Brom and that was completely rejected straight away."

The 30-year-old Finnish international striker, who made his name at Chelsea, arrived at Chadwell Heath a week ago for an extended trial period.

Having trained with West Ham's first team squad all week, Forsell was unlucky not to be considered for the team that beat Real Zaragoza 2-0 at the Boleyn Ground on Saturday.

However he is still hoping to secure a permanent contract at United before the Championship kick-off this weekend.

Ive made a list of things to see and who win
Stadium. Ipswich
Location. Millwall
Current squad. Ipswich
Finance. Ipswich
Wages. Ipswich
Tropheys. Ipswich
Fans. Millwall/Ipswich
Owners. Ipswich
History. Ipswich
Managers. Ipswich
Youth set up. Ipswich

cant really agree with this at all

Stadium. Millwall been to both grounds ipswich's is worse

Location. Millwall

Current squad. Ipswich/Millwall about even cant argue based on where teams finished last season, both lost key players too.

Finance. Millwall/Ipswich both have wealthy owners who have cleared alot of debt from both clubs.

Wages. Millwall/Ipswich due to the above.
Tropheys. Ipswich

Fans. Millwall are some of the best fans in the country ipswich just arnt.

Owners. Millwall/Ipswich

History. Ipswich

Managers. Millwall all day long jackett is one of the longest serving managers in the english league, whereas Jewell has been sacked by 3 of his last 4 clubs, the other he left before he got sacked. so expect him to be sacked from this one, dont go hoping ipswich fans.

Youth set up. Ipswich

Both Team won there home games in the league, so i call it fairly even but based on the guy who did this before.

People talk about Liverpool FC signing overpriced average players. All I have to say is ... Phil Jones, Bebe, Obertan, Gibson, Welbeck, Macheda (one goal wonder), Hernandez (tap in king) and what's more id much sooner have Carroll over a lazy overated Bulgarian slob Berbatov. Then there is Owen who keeps the bench so warm people are thinking of using him as cavity wall insulation.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

The only players in that list that were overpriced were Berbatov (Who still scores more goals than any Liverpool player) and Phil Jones who is one of the most promising English centre backs in the country

Agree0 Disagree0

Who is this moron? I suppose I could hazard a guess that it's some uneducated fool from a very inferior club If the ' tap in king' was doing for you what he does for man united you certainly wouldn't be slagging him off St the end of the day carroll is an over priced cart horse Fella your a fool, your clubs a joke your fans ain't far behind and they all live in a place called once upon a time

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, Bebe wasn't overpriced at all...

Agree0 Disagree0

I wish all you MU fans and Loserfool fans would stop flirting YAWN , im a spurs fan and its obvious that MU always have been a bigger club and will continue to grow Loserfool had there time 20 years ago , so get used to being inferior

Agree0 Disagree0

Gibson, welbeck cost how much then? i think they were part of the united youth set up and cost nothing, macheda came from italy for next to nothing, so on those accounts you are very wrong, hernanadez who cost a third of what liverpool paid for carroll , scored 3 times as many goals, as for tap in king? dont remember ian rush scoring many from long distance, but i will give you it on bebe and obertan, neither were expensive but both are rubbish, but at least utd aint paying them 90000 a week like liverpool are with joe cole.i also think you forgot the many players signed under houllier and benitez, too many too mention, cisse, crouch, keane, aquilani, poulsen, maxi, cole, morientes, diouf, cheyrou, itandje, kronkamp, ngog, josemi, kewell, pennant, traore, i think you get the point, next time find out how much man utd actually paid for the players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Javier Hernandez the most overated footballer of the century. Which goals has he scored that have been without a great assist? Which goals has he scored from further than 6 yards out ? Tell me United fans if you know?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hernandez only cost like £6-8m. That is hardly overpriced, especially for 13 league goals in 27 for them, tap-ins or not [look up goal poacher by the way].

I'm not really sure how you've come to the conclusion that Welbeck, Macheda and Gibson were overpriced either considering they were youth products.

Berbatov was overpriced but he has still scored plenty of goals for United and this "lazy" thing everyone has about him is bulls**t.

Your lot on the other hand paid: £35m for a crocked target man who had half a good season up here, £13m or so for Henderson who IS average, £18m for Downing who has only had one good season in the Premiership, and however much for Adam who is good for set pieces and crosses, but constantly plays the hollywood pass.

And finally, Jones wasn't "overrated and overpriced" until you missed out on him so... Sounds like someone is bitter to me. If you want to talk about overpriced Man U signings.. Ashley Young is the one.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he were knocking them in for liverpool like he does for man united I doubt you would be moaning Liverpool fans Probably the most overrated fans in the country

Agree0 Disagree0

1 word..........veron

u could have had so many promising players who u let go..... forlan, rossi, pique to name a few

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it's fair to say that both Liverpool (yes I am a fan) and Man Utd have each made their share of rubbish signings over the years. What people seem to fail to realise is a player like Carroll was always going to cost more than Hernandez not only because of him being english but also as a result of him being from another Premier League club. The fees paid reflect more on the circumstances than their abilities, but it's hardly fair to compare them over last season, of which Carroll missed about half. I'm not saying Hernandez isn't quality, he is one of the best strikes in the league, but I also think Carroll has the same potential.

To invest in young english players these days is going to require a significant investment. At least Liverpool and Utd have had the balls to show some faith in young, english players and are willing to take a chance on them.

On another note, why is a Spurs fan chucking his oar in? They've had some horrendous players over the years and ain't even won much to even try to argue it was worth it

You can't split Liverpool and Utd. By far the two biggest, most successful teams in the country. Yes, accepted, Utd have outperformed Liverpool consistently for far too long a period, but comparing honours, both come out even Chelsea and City are gonna have to do a lot more trophy buying to even get close to us

This championship season is going to be a tough one, i reckon Barnsley and peterborough will go down and the third place will be one from these three, Hull city, Crystal palace and doncaster Rovers.Birmingham will go up as champs, Forest second and third will be leeds or west ham.Millwall, cardiff, Ipswich will finish mid table.
-------------------------------------

Don't rekon ipswich will finish midtable they have added some class into the side this year and they have invested quite a bit of money. Especially with chopra upfront.
-------------------------------------

in my opinion i think ipswich will be up there but they spent quite a bit money last summer and it didn't go to plan but i think they are one of the strong teams in the league but i can see them losing in the play offs

You have no idea, Hull City beat Liverpool 3-0 last weekend, and have one of the best squads in the Championship

Sorry mate, as good as coco pops is, players are leaving daily from brum.
Can't see you making the play offs, especially as this year will be the toughest in recent years in the championship.
Mid table for you guys at best, but i wish u the best of luck.

I think West Ham will go up as Champions.

Are you an Oxford fan??
I support Pompey, but wish our kit was red and white, and that we had a fantastic stadium and support like those down the West M27

I'm a Huddersfield fan and I wish more than anything that my team could play the slick pass and move football that Barnsley play, especially when you consider they never spend anything and we've given Clark more to spend than anyone else in league one.

Are you a Barnsley fan.....

I am an Oxford fan and I wish we had a fourth side to our stadium and played in red like our superior neighbours Swindon.... Oh how I envy their manager and fans they are so amazing

After this last weeks stance at Bloomfield rd, we can now confirm the Dithering Potter (Karl Oyston) intends on using kids to prop up Blackpool FC, reportedly he has no ambition to get them back to the premier league after being embarrased by the Chicken Farmers in the race to sign Goodwillie.

Not spent any parachute money.
Where's the Charlie Adam money gone?
Where's the money you recieved from last years premiership?

Answer in your pocket

Come on Oyston you joke show some bloody ambition.

Certainly there is a little bit of money in the Blackpool coffers and they could, and perhaps will, spend more than they have.
However it is pointless to think that the 'Pool have the resources to buy their way to promotion because that would just be a recipe for long term disaster. It isn't just a question of forking out a few miliion for a player or two but alll that follows from it in wages etc not to mention dissatisfaction amongst the rest of the squad if they are earning significantly less.
Blackpool have already shown that promotion is possible with reasonably priced buys, youngsters and loanees.

As a Blackpool supporter of course I would rather be in the premiership than the championship but we are not a natural premiership side in this day and age, merely a lower league side who aspires. The club is a much improved entity compared to what it was like, say, fifteen years ago and I don't want that to be thrown away chasing the shadow of a premiership dream.
The youth system is start ing to yield results and also a few promising youngster have been bought in. If Holloway/Oyston really want a player they now have a bit of money in their pocket to go out and get that player but I don't see that throwing money at players left right and centre
will do much good in the long run.
the board and the manager have been doing a pretty sound job on the whole, let's get behind them.
