Mick McCarthy set to sign a top class striker from the Prem as it looks likely that Chopra will leave to sign for Sheffield Wednesday.

Chopra was on 18k-per-week contract and though a settlement will be made, this will free up wages for loan signings and more possible transfers by the end of the window.

Huddersfield town are set to offer 250k to Swindon town for the services of striker James Collins. Huddersfield are hoping this will make Swindon pull out of the Hibernian deal as they have only offered 200k and it is also believed Collins would prefer a move to Huddersfield over Hibernian.

If memory serves me right, BFS said quite clearly at the end of last season that hwe wanted to tie all his business up as soon as possible so all his players could get on his special training regime for the new season and yet, West ham are probably still 3 players shy. They need desperatley a striker, a winger who can double up as a striker and a RB. Too much time spent pondering, deliberating, mulling and preparing. More time needs to be spent getting the right players in. Norwich can do it why can't west ham

If it's right what I am hearing - Bishop to Blackpool then Blackpool fans you are in for a long season. Most horrific player i've seen at Meadow Lane for years, since we were scrapping of relegation to the conference every season, infact.

Paul Ince manager - Neal Bishop pulling strings in midfield - you're going down.

I Always thought that pre season friendlies were supposed to be an opportunity for players to get some sort of match fitness and to get to know and get used to the rest of the team? Why then have West Ham not yet got themselves a striker for next season (don;t tell me you got Carroll cause he has been confirmed as out for the first month, coupled with pre season). What a joke

Reading will re-ignite their interest in Saints striker Rickie Lambert should Southampton sign Damiao, after they stated Lambert would be free to speak to other clubs should the deal go through. Whether it's true or not it would be a great signing for Reading, but I can't see him dropping down a league from a team with European ambitions.

Ikechi Anya has signed for the club after his loan spell and Manchester United defender Reece Brown has signed a 2 year contract. Source: Watford FC. On paper, this squad now looks the strongest in the championship but we all know that games arn't won on paper.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Stronger than QPR's on paper? I think not

Agree0 Disagree0

On paper?, Watford probably on toilet paper maybe. Qpr on chip paper. Bigger teams are Bolton and Wigan.

Agree0 Disagree0

Safe to say there are probably 6-7 teams who could claim to have the strongest squad in the league this season (on their various available paper types). Should be a very interesting battle from promotion

Just seen on twitter peterborough united have signed another goalkeeper who is supposedly American and stands 6'6" tall would like to understand rational behind this but can't help thinking Joe Day surplus to requirements then as bobby was No. 1 all season long? Wish someone had concrete info on a forward coming in or the club mgt would just issue a we have no targets for that position! Frustrating times but in Darragh we trust! UTP

In my opinion norwich should sign Gary hooper and jelovic because they are proven goals scorers and both reasonable price. Also we need a new centre back

what do you saints fans think about adkins after lambert?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Jul 2013 13:42:30
it seems it could happen
gutted for ricky if it does
he can still do a job for saints with his all round
ability

Agree0 Disagree0

All Saints fans would wish we'll of both Nigel and Ricki for what they did for us. I would like Lambert to stay, when you see him week in and week out he is so much more than a striker, holds up well, very good play maker and works hard all the time closing down - lack of pace is the only real weakness.

Just wondering but I'm hearing a lot of speculation about possible transfer targets but yet we don't seem to be getting anywhere closer to a deal, how can we sign bigger players if we can't get some through the door to start with? Bring jenas who is a big name and wants to play for us and more will follow
