10 match ban, seems about right imo. 3 match ban for biting another pro AGAIN would have been to soft. Also, he will leave Liverpool now stating the prem hates him etc etc yawn yawn yawn. I also expect Liverpool fans to leap to his defence again yawn yawn yawn.

Players often get riled up in games and retaliate. Sometimes it is harmless but disgusting, like spitting at the opponent. Sometimes it is more violent, like a punch, a head-butt or a wild kick. Sometimes it is more sneaky, like an elbow in the face, a stamp or rake when the opponent is on the ground or a deliberately dangerous tackle. In all these cases the player would be sent off and banned for three games.
Biting someone on the arm is bizarre and demented, but no different from any of those other kinds of retaliation, so I do think Suarez has a right to ask why it should be punished so much more heavily, especially when most of them are intrinsically more dangerous.

Wasn't retaliation - he was trying to provoke retaliation, then feigned injury.
Also has terrible history of cheating and violence; also currently awaiting international ban for punching defender in the throat.
