Derek McInnes has confirmed City are in discussions with former Cardiff City goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

The City boss did take Heaton and released Celtic defender Mark Wilson with the squad to the pre-season training camp in Spain.

And he says 26-year-old goalkeeper Heaton, who began his career with Wrexham before being snapped up by Manchester United's youth set-up, is a transfer target.

"We're in discussions with Tom and his representatives," the City boss told bcfc.co.uk. "He's been with us for around ten days now, a few days in Bristol before coming to Spain with us.

"There could be a deal to be done but there's nothing further at this stage."

Heaton, a former England Under-21 keeper, has also enjoyed loan spells at Swindon Town, Royal Antwerp, Cardiff City, QPR, Rochdale and Wycombe Wanderers. He signed permanently for Cardiff in 2010 but rejected a new deal with the Bluebirds this summer.

McInnes says Wilson spent a week training with the club but has since picked up a groin injury.

John Bostock's move to Swindon is now in doubt, the player today joined the Tottenham reserves on a pre-season tour of Portugal. AVB is keen to see if the player can start living up to his early promise and is now not expected to let him go on loan before January so he can get a good look at him.

In relation to the comment about Alves being Mishandled at Middlesbrough that is complete rubbish he was hired as a goal scorer and when it came to it he couldn't handle English football...... With average cross rate of 10 a game from downing alone most times finding Alves unmarkedhe couldnt hit a barn door...... League 1 striker maybe but championship/premiership not a chance n his wage demands are way too high for Coventry so good luck with that :)

He is also looking to bolster the squad with new players however has recently been told by Peter Coates he has to make his own transfer budget through the reduction and sale of squad players
These are players who may have a possibility of leaving stoke however it is very unlikely all will leave

N. Kanu and L. Lawrence (Portsmouth)
want to leave to a bigger club like Sheffield Wednesday or Sheffield Utd it looks like both
she Sheffield Clubs have put an offer in but personally I think they should stay where they are. {Ed027's Note - bigger club lol, Pompey is bigger then both

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Ed, the owls have been in the top league longer than they haven't. Money problems have been their recent downfall, just like portsmouth's now. Unfair comparison during a short period, doesn't make one bigger than the other. {Ed003's Note - Ignore Ed 027,I know you are massive}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed Pompey have bad support even in prem where they couldn't fill there ground and when fans asked to save the club the crowd was half empty poor support still hope don't go under {Ed001's Note - not everyone can have massive support though.}

I have to admit as a West Ham fan
seeing Nicky Maynard, Carlton Cole,
Sam Baldock and Ricardo Vaz Te in
the news is all too worrying,
especially when we can clearly
see that WEST HAM Are unable to
attract players of the right quality
to replace them should they decide future
lies elsewhere.

Can these players really also cut it in the premier league

Believable2 Unbelievable0

24 Jul 2012 13:33:05
For you WEST ham fans, I think like
everyone else that this season
is going to be long. hard and painful.
The lack of ambition by the club
"Clearly seen recently when Saints
recruited long time West ham target Nathaniel CLynne" Should really have you
worried. Coupled this with the fact
west ham are going to start
the season with 10 goalies and possible long term injury to Kevin Nolan its pretty tragic.
Smells a little like Dean Ashton at the
start of the season to me. And finally,
the quite clear unrest and frustration from
Sam Allardyce gives a clear indication
that Sam is going to have to work miraclesd
each and every game.

I like West ham, but its such a sad
shame for a club like this that has so much hope be treated in such a way

As a WEST HAM fan all my life, I have got to admit that I am slightly concerned at how our
squad is looking before we start our
premiership campaign, and although I am
devout fan, the more days go by
without noteable signings makes things
worse.
The nucleus of our squad is ageing and
although it has premiership experience
lacks pace and that cutting edge and
creativity which many other teams have and put to good use.
It was nice to hear Maiga had joined howeevr,
(and I mean this in the nicest possible way)
I just cannot see Carlton Cole leading
our attacked and getting us more than
10 goals in the permier league. Perhaps
Maynard and or Baldock could get us a few
goals but they will need the supply, which currently
I can't see where its coming from. Whilst this happens our nack four doesn't look that secure
and don;t fill me with confidence to
believe we could keep a clean sheet.

Maybe its me being negative, but WHU
have seriously got to get skates on and improve
the squad with at least 4 more signings

If the judge is going to make a final judgement today re:Policing costs, that would make all the Bates regime litigation over and done with.
So do we now consider that the new owners ( who would be completely divorced from anything Bates and any thing else leftover from THAT! era) will finally make themselves known and that all Leeds fans everywhere can really start to look forward to getting back to the Premier?

I, for one, think that the takeover will be announced sometime this week now!

As a Brighton fan I hope Ben Haim, Kanu and Kitson do the decent thing...tear up their contracts and let some club pay Pompey a fee for them. You are modern day footballers that have earned a fortune from the game and will continue too if You leave the club now and let them survive. If u stay You will become football outcasts and will be roundly booed and every game will be a nightmare for you. I never thought I would fight a Pompey cause being a TRUE BRIGHTON FAN but we have been there and it ain't nice. Keep the faith Pompey! Ps PI?É‚ÄòA ZAHAVI YOU ARE A BLOODY DISGRACE!

Believable7 Unbelievable4

Have to agree with this too. how ironic that the final possible nail driven into Pompey's already shoddy coffin will be hammered in by players themselves. I do find it strange though that the club did not have the foresight to draw something into a contract that can off-load this type of greed. Being a BHA fan too, i have to sympathise with Pompey, seeing a clubs demise (Rangers for example), i feel sorry for those fans who pay good hard earned money, regardless of the league they in, to be squandered on greedy, self obsessed players. Pompey....you need to look at what BHA did re Fans united, it turned the whole fortunes of the club, ended up ousting the directors and made the council wake up and smell the bloody roses.

Agree0 Disagree1

Long gone are the days where players have a true affiliation for a club, the likes of LeTissier and Primus are a thing of the past, and sadly replaced with the likes of Ben Haim, Kanu, Kitson etc. The greed and expectation of individuals cannot be commercially sustained by many of the smaller clubs, who then feel obliged to pay exorbitant wage and loyalty bonuses to maintain the expectation of a small fan base rather than to play at a natural level to suit the size of the club. This, coupled with the massaged egos of Twitchy, Storrie and the defunked owners will have a catastrophic effect on the East side of Hampshire, and to the detriment and lively hood of backroom staff, local suppliers and charities alike?¢‚Ǩ¬¶?¢‚Ǩ¬¶?¢‚Ǩ¬¶?¢‚Ǩ¬¶COYRs

Agree2 Disagree0

Yeah but your a brighton fan, don't really have a derby with pompey, you lot just think you do. i think the players should definetely try move but i wouldnt expect them to take a wage cut just to save a club they probably dont really care about

Agree3 Disagree0

Agreed, it's a terrible situation for them to be in, take it from a Leeds fan! I hope they pull through like we did.

JW

Agree1 Disagree1

Don't agree, these players are still owed a lot of money due to unpaid wages. Would you tear up your work contract and walk away with unpaid wages? I think not.

Portsmouth could try and sell the players and then pay the players back what they are owed with funds received. But most clubs know these players will be availble on a 'free' soon enough anyway. With the exception of Kanu who is well over his playing years.

What a sorry state of affairs....

Saint Gumbo

Agree1 Disagree0

As a saints fan I agree with you , but something funny is going on behind the scenes almost as if certain people at the club want it to go as the land is worth more than the club . hope pompey get a lifeline as no team should be allowed to get to this point. the fa need to be held responsible too. . fit an proper persons my arse

Agree1 Disagree1

Could it be that gydamach has already offered the land to A developer. There is a planning reqest to replace it with a retail park...That way he gets what hes owed without having to resort to a 2p in the pound settlement. THINK ABOUT IT
