Bristol Rovers manager Mark McGhee expects to start the new season with his existing squad minus former Leicester loanees Bolger and Parkes who are lined up to join a league 1 club. He will not be bounced into signing players who don't meet his criteria despite pressure from chairman Nick Higgs who promised fans between 4 and 6 new players would be recruited. The board are planning to placate restless fans by spending the money previously earmarked for new signings on smartening up facilities at the Memorial Stadium.

I am a Derby fan and after signing Michael Jacobs i know that we will not be signing anyone else. Jason Shackell is leaving for Burnley and will will invest no more money. Clough is a poor manager and the board have no ambition whatsoever and we might aswell start preparing for league 1. The only signing i could see happening would be Pearce from Notts county but even this is highly unlikely.

Two players are having what the club expect to be final talks in the next 48 hours and are expected to be on board as early as next week. One is a winger.

Gylfi Sigurdsson has agreed personal terms with Liverpool and will have a medical on his return from holiday next Monday. Swansea had agreed a deal worth around £6.8m however Hoffenheim have asked Liverpool for £8.4m which they were willing to pay. Liverpool have also lodged a bid believed to be in the region of £4.5m for Celtic's defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama. Liverpool are over stocked in the centre of the pitch with Gerrard,Lucas,Henderson,Aquilani,Adam,Spearing,Shelvey,Coady and even Joe Cole can play centrally add Sigurdsson and Wanyama to that and it's getting over crowded. Aquilani is still looking likely to join AC Milan while Spearing,Cole and maybe even Adam could face the chop. Liverpool are also interested in Gaston Ramirez and he could be Rodgers marquee signing.

Im not a liverpool fan, but i know henderson should never have been signed, let a loan for 20m. adam, henderson and spearing arent good enough.

Southampton rumours from a real Saints fan -

GK - Jack Butland is our main target. From what I hear talks are still ongoing, but nothing set in stone.

CB - I believe we need 2..Upson was mentioned but that is not happening. Scott Dann is still being rumoured and now we are being linked with Czech player Tomas Sivok. Mariappa was linked, but I believe he will end up at Reading.

RM - Matt Jarvis is the guy we are after according to reports (Even though some people on here have said there is NO CHANCE of Southampton signing Jarvis).

CM - Steve Davis and Michu are the 2 that are being strongly linked with us. Some are saying Michu will be signing soon.

ST - Obviously we have signed Jay Rod and from what I know it wasnt £7m up front but a lump sum with add ons. Also Leon Best has been linked with us today, but I doubt this is true as we have 4 strikers already.

In my opinion we also need a right back and a left back as I dont think Butterfield and Harding are good enough for Prem.

These are realistic targets even though some would say otherwise, Saints do have considerable financial backing..HOWEVER that does not mean we will be spending millions. We will buy what we need and continue to bring youth through from our academy. A lot of people on here are showing nothing but hate towards Saints on here and on other sites..which is fine as we are used to it. I can also understand why people would think we might be relegated after 1 season, but I think it would be foolish to dismiss our chances before a ball is kicked especially after last season where newly promoted teams all survived.

Rumours have been going around for the last couple of months that Paul Turnbull would be returning to Stockport County this summer in order to re-join his long term admirer Jim Gannon.

Paul has been told this week by Northampton boss Aidy Boothroyd that he does have a future but he is well down the pecking order at the club and needs to work hard if he wants to be involved for next season, Boothroyd has stressed that Paul will be given a chance to impress throughout the pre-season.

Aidy Boothroys has said "If he stays and he's a success, I'm happy with that," he said. "I'm not sitting here thinking 'I hope somebody comes in for him, I've got to move him on', I'm not like that.

"We haven't got any bad lads here, there isn't someone you wouldn't want in your dressing room but they will all want to go and play football."

In the early 1980s, Reading were plying their trade in the old 4th Division. Then they became a bit of a yoyo club between what is now the Championship and League 1. We used to play at an open cess pit and now play at the Madejski - voted when it first opened as one of the best stadia in the country.
Then with Steve Coppell in charge we made the Premiership setting lots of new records along the way. We nearly went straight through the Premiership into Europe in our first season.
The rise in Readings fortunes has - quite frankly - been euphoric, and now with a financial backer who is young, ambitious and seems to have an open wallet, and John Madejski and Brian McDermott at the helm, we are entering into a new dimension into the history of Reading Football Club.
No one really knows what next season holds for us, but to all the doubters out there - and there are quite a few - can you really blame us for getting excited? Yes we are being linked with about all players all over Europe. How many of these "rumours" are started by agents wanting to raise the price of their Customers?...
I will be happy to see Reading end 17th next season - even though I think they will end up mid table, and consolidating the following season. Reading are a club on the way up, to new adventures and new previously unseen territories. I am loving it when everyone talks about us - even those that are so jealous that they no longer have a good word to say about "little" Reading. We are a club that is going places. And it IS exciting for us.

Believable8 Unbelievable3

True words. You would think when they call us "little" "tinpot" they would not even care to look at us. But can't help to notice Reading and with there green eyes they love to hate us. We are on the up!

Why does some think Reading are favourites for the drop this season? They now have major investment, which is improving a squad which in all fairness made the play off final last season and were not far short of Swansea, and they have improved even more since then. This season is the first that I can remember where none of the promoted teams have gone straight down again - just proving that the gulf between the Premiership and the Championship is getting smaller. When Reading were in the Premiership before, Arsenal were the only team that "little" Reading did not take points from, and then everyone thought we would come straight down, and we ended up 1 place away from our first European placing. The new financial investors are putting their money where their mouth is and spending money. I know this does not guarantee success - after all it took Man City and Chelsea a few years to reap the rewards, but look at them now? It was not that long ago that Man City were in League One. In my life time Chelsea, Tottenham and Man Utd have all been outside of the top flight. Things go round, small clubs get bigger (just look at Wigan, Norwich, Swansea and QPR for example), and big clubs fail (Portsmouth, Sheff Weds and Utd, Leeds). How long ago were Luton in the top flight of English football? Quite honestly, it is jealousy that is making people think Reading cannot stand the pace.
If you think Reading are going to go down, then bet on it, then we can all laugh when you lose your money

I can 100% say Derby County have
5 targets and 5 players will be signed
i dont what fee will be payed but
they are

Michael Jacobs-(I guess 575k)
Krystian Pearce-140k
James Caton-Free Transfer
Paul Dixon-Free Transfer
Johnny Russell-(I guess around 2m)

The first 4 will be quite early on in
the transfer window as derby can
match their valuations but derbys
Search for a striker will Drag on
and could leaves us with what we
have but if we do get Russell either
expect him to want High wages or
us to Pay Over the odds for him.

Chelsea are prepared to sell Josh McEachran to Liverpool for £3.75 million plus future add ons. McEachran hasn't pushed himself into the Chelsea first team and a loan move to Swansea didnt pay off. Rogers believes he can get the best out of him and is prepared to gamble.

Peterborough dramatically pull out from signing Michael Jacobs leaving the door open for Derby County. p

Peterborough would not confirm why they changed their mind about signing Michael, but are now looking at a better deal.

Sigurdsson looks more likely to sign for reading after they matched liverpool's bid of 7M and have apparently offered a higher wage than Liverpool. This is probably because there desborate for his signing.

Dear all, not much point making up fulham rumours, as almost all out business is done behind closed doors.

Also, may I suggest to reading fans to keep their mouth shut until they've actually survived a season? Yes, you've signed pog and Rhodes, good for you. If you ask me it probably is because they want first team football. How arrogant also it is to say that you have a much brighter future than fulham just because you have a bit of cash to splash. So often newly promoted teams with slightly deep pockets think that they can 'take the prem by storm', qpr, Birmingham etc.

See if you talk so loud at the end of the season.

Reading fc, my new most hated.

Believable6 Unbelievable2

Sounds like green eyed monster to me fulham have done very well but will never be bigger than they are where as reading will grow into top 8 side

People are clearly getting really jealous of Reading. So many people have attempted to predict our season and decide that we think we are the biggest club ever. What people don't understand is that we don't want to be a team like Man City, we want to gradually build on our team. Yes we need to spend some money to improve our team but we don't want to turn out like QPR and ruin the chemistry of the team. When we here the rumours (despite whether they are false or not) that big players are coming to our team we don't post them up here because we believe that they will happen but because it is in our interest to post rumours as the topic is our team.

Just to be clear: I'd love Gylfi to come back but I doubt he will. I don't want Rhodes to come to us because he is not worth anything more than £3.5million. I believe that Pog is coming.

Just think before you post stupid comments about Reading fans. We are a team that play as a team we don't want all these players.

Believable1 Unbelievable7

Well done mate, you've singlehandedly made every reading fan look like a twerp with that 1st sentence
