news from a youth team player, southampton in for charlie austin again, this time it's a 3 mil bid because he is unsettled in the north. FACT

For anyone who thinks there is any truth in this you must have a screw loose, saints fans are stupid.

Austin has played 4 games for Burnley before dislocating his shouler and missing the rest of the season. Burnley payed 1.2m for the Player in which time he hasn't scored a goal so why would his value increase to 3m? .. He is also only 1 of 2 players Eddie Howe has actually signed, so Howe would not be letting him go. He chose Ipswich over Burnley because Howe had worked with him before he signed for Swindon but couldnt sign him because of Bournemouth's transfer emargo. No players moves after 4 games and no strikers value goes up nearly 300% without scoring a goal. idiots.

{Ed022's Note - As an Arsenal fan we seem to be off loading players to City (mostly for silly fees) see Adebayor and Toure. Adebayor has been a wonderful signing and they value him so highly they left him behind with the Under 18s whilst they went to America. Ed, can we start a 'i really love nicky maynard' banter site for all the Bristol City fans, and then when he leaves changed it to 'I really loved nicky maynard' site.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

How about a "Nicky Maynard is the nuts and loves us" ...followed by a "Nicky Maynard is s**te and we never liked him" site?

oh, and can we also have a "Leicester City are the Devil and we hope they go bust because we're jealous of them" site?

Agree0 Disagree0

Leicester City are not the Devil. I do not wish any football club to go bust...

However, Dispatches made for interesting viewing. There were no concrete links or direct correlation, but the Club's owners were mentioned, of course. The practice of investing money via loans and permanent signings in the early days, with a view to getting into the top flight, and then dropping the Club like a hot potato (financially solvent or otherwise)... it would seem to be a possible outcome. You spanked an obscene amount of money on loanees last season. You have gone with permanent signings this (I don't think you are done yet). If they don't cut it as a team and your promotion push falters, how can you guarantee the owners will stick around and front up more money? You can't. Just as we can't guarantee your Club will implode.

So, in summary... get over yourself. No one cares about Leicester, everyone likes an underdog, buying a new first team overnight doesn't endear you to football fans. You crack on feeling sorry for yourself if you like because bigger boys are picking on you... it will make for good practice if your promotion push fails.

Ahh, another "i watched it on tv so it must be true" dullard. Congratulations on your ability to act like a sheep... baa

I write about the Nicky Maynard situation at Bristol City as a long life City fan i wish this matter could be solved sooner rather than later.I hate the fact that the likes of Leicester and Forest were both
after him and are still after him if our directors and board give KM the backing they give Sven and Steve im sure he would stay we have a major defensive problem and as always as per Gary Johnson all we want to do is buy strikers, if he i goes i would like to see him go to PL team we stood by

Liverpool will make a shock bid of around £25m for Robin Van Persie and despite his injury record the sports science team at Anfield are confident they could keep him fit. Arsene Wenger is desperate to bring Karim Benzema to the Emirates while he is also very keen to bring in Juan Mata and Romelu Lukaku. Wenger may be tempted with an offer of over £20m for a man who rarely plays more than half a season but then again Liverpool got £50m for a man who rarely plays more than half a season. Emiliano Insua and Joe Cole could be offered as part of the deal but Arsenal will likely want a straight cash deal.Liverpool have also offered David N'Gog, Sotirios Krygiakos and £5m to Bolton in exchange for Gary Cahill. Poulsen to Fulham, Aquilani to Fiorentina, Jovanovic to Anderlecht, Pacheco to Norwich all look like goers while El Zhar, Degen and a few reserves{Amoo, Ince, Irwin, Eccleston, Bouzanis, Mavinga, Bruna etc.} who don't look like they will be making the breakthrough will also be leaving the club.Arsenal are close to agreeing a new 5 year deal with Samir Nasri but Van Persie cannot see the club mounting a challenge and he could be the final piece in Kenny's jigsaw.Liverpool will also sign Jose Enrique for around £5m. Why are Leicester getting pelters for spending, what some people don't realise is we are not just buying, 11 players have been released, 2 loaned out, 2 sold for about a 1 million. Of the players in, three are free transfers 1 on loan, Schmeical and Peltier 3 million (ish) for both. Mills granted was a tad expensive for my liking but will prove to be worth it. Obviously wages we are paying are better than other offers put forward or perhaps the players just see good potential or maybe it's the Sven factor, so stop being so touchy about the Foxes and concentrate on your own teams, jealousy is a nasty thing.

what will teams like chelsea / man city and the rest do when their sugar daddys decide to get another toy to play with. i, like the rest of us would love to splash the cash on these players but when the money has gone and the sugar daddy so might your club.

People have been signing the same song about Chelski since Abramovich took over but he's not bored yet is he? If he were to move on then the club would need to be sold and the eventual buyer would need to prove to the powers that be that he/they could afford the wages bill.

Be they professional football players or the people who empty the bins, everyone has a right of continuous employment when a new owner comes in, therefore the stars would remain until such time as their contracts are renegotiated or they're sold on the open market.

Regardless of the senario, the club, whichever club it may be, would need to be sold as a going concern in order for the current owners to get their money out out. Nobody would buy a poorly run club with huge debts unless they had the ability to manage those debts, it wouldn't make sense business wise and they wouldn't be allowed under existing rules.

So there you go, if the 'sugar daddy's' move on then the clubs concerned will continue in much the same way as before (i sense that may disapoint you) - however, if the club gets into financial trouble then it would wind up, pretty quickly, in administration - but that's an entriely different question with a much different outcome and it isn't likely at any of the clubs owned by the mega-rich, mostly because they're mega-rich

the ins and outs of man city, how many more players will they sign and disregard after one season and just buy someone else, the list is endless of players who have been signed since 2007, players who had their whole careers before them and went to city and died, remember these guys? isaksson, geovanni, mpenza, bianchi, elano, petrov, garrido, caicedo, castillo, gelson, wright philips, bojinov, robinho, jo, benjani, ben haim, glauber, bellamy, corluka, sylvinho, santa cruz, adebayor, and the following will join that list real soon im sure, lescott, milner, barry, johnson, tevez, dzeko, balotelli, kolarov, silva and probably aguero, this is why they are a joke, and players know it, go to city and take the money, your career may die and you may be forgotten, but thats the risk for getting rich and i dont think players care, players dont seem to want to be the next bobby moore or legend, more interested in their pockets, its very sad state of affairs.

Well maybe you don't know much about football half the players you mention were there before the takeover most people know that football is an evolution you have to reach different levels the team that comes out of the championship needs a new team to stay in the prem then needs more players to get mid table again new players to get top six then to get champions league which to compete in you need the very best players who unless you have champions league are very hard to attract all city have done is speeded up that process due to uefa, s obsession with the so called big fish in Europe changing the rules to preserve the status quo when if you went into it you would find the dealings of real Madrid ( huge debts just written off) and Barcelona are much worse than anything city have done but now city have reached the champions league expect things to calm down on the player front but I ask you to look into what city's owners are doing in the local community in Manchester then check out what the owners of utd, liverpool, Chelsea and arsenal you will find the answer of next to nothing so please look at the big picture before making such negative comments about the new growing force in the prem

Thank - you Sir Alex , you are too generous with your wisdom. ( and don't mention Dispatches )

And i forgot boateng and given , and maybe some more, joke club who are destroying the game .

Amazing what rich owners do to a club and the way their supporters think. Chavski take two. Football in this country is going to hell in a handcart. At least you can rest easy you will both win something every year as there wont be any competition. You would have bought it.

If you seriously think that all of football's problems can be laid at the feet of Chelsea and Man City, you're a fool. Why not lay the blame at the feet of Blackburn Rovers? Remember when they bought the Premier League title (94-95) or, better yet, why not blame the people who are really responsible for the way the game is these days... the fans.

The problems here started when Sky got involved and pumped millions into the coffers of otherwise average clubs. The exposure those clubs got prompted the likes of Abramovich to get involved and his (relative) success generated more and more investment. We now see a game dominated by foriegn imports, owners, players and managers but it's all OUR own fault. If you watch football on SKY you're simply adding to the problem. Dump Sky Sports and they'll dump the Premier League and once their money goes, so will the new owners, investment consortiums and probably 70% of the Worlds best players.

In short, it's the fans that prompted SKY to buy into football in such a big way and it's the fans who could alter the situation by refusing to be drawn in any longer - will you stop watching footy on SKY i wonder?

{Ed022's Note - No.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Utter bullc**p I think Leeds were a more recent reminder wasnt it? No way Blackburn bought that title. You didnt say what team you supported, that might help us understand your childish rant. You call us fools yet you go and say that, outrageous.

Agree0 Disagree0

Congratulations on missing the point you thicko. How on earth is it a 'childish rant' and what difference does it make who i support? You should read Alan Sugars autobiography as it details when the money from SKY came into the game and what the reaction of the Premier League chairmen was at the time. Sugar was Spurs chairman then btw (and no, i'm not a Spurs fan)

Who puts the most money into the Premier League do you think? Is it the clubs? (nope) is it the fans? (nope) is it the advertisers? (nope) it's SKY, and it's SKY who sell the rights to the games across the world. Where do you think the new Man City owners came from? Do you think they just popped their head around a sand dune and thought "ooh i know..." No, they watched the Premier League brand grow and they saw investors from Russia and America hopping onto the bandwagon and followed suit, without SKY we'd be back in the dark ages, transfer fees would be realistic and the vast majority of the imported players would still be in Spain and Italy.

Btw - the reference to Blackburn Rovers was simply to highlight the fact that big spending teams have been buying the league since it's inception. Blackburn bought the title and Man Utd bought it back the following year, oh, and it's no coincidence that it was SKY who encouraged the top flight to break away from the Football League to form the Premier League two years prior to Blackburn becoming the Champions.

These are simple facts, you are clearly a simple person. It should be a good fit.

Ed022 - me neither, i kinda like the game as it is but then i wasn't the one whinging about rich owners.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair point bout sky , wherever the money comes from, sky, sponsors, rich owners, it has all come together to destroy the game, players chasing larger wages cos they know they can get it, cos clubs know by buying , they may get success and also make some cash, but the more they make, the more the players want, anyway from the original post, name 1 player from the list that was at city before 2007, not 1 .its taken millions to get city to just third in the league, poor.

West brom are playing stupid, forget Shane long he won't be worth the money, let's think about getting Roy hodgsons contract increased and sign a striker with prem experience with that sort of cash, Ben foster will be a brilliant signing, and own hargreeves, if he plays half the season he is a world class player And others could learn of him
