Howe to capture Adam Clayton after Oliver Norwood joined Huddersfield today. Howe was said to have shown a little interest in the Burnley born midfielder but the Burnley boss wants to finalise a deal for Clayton, who fits the profile of a young centre midfielder, with a cheapish fee of £400k. Burnley will use the sale of Rodriguez to capture Clayton after he was placed on the transfer list by Neil Warnock. Source - SSN, Burnley Express.

Totally agree with decision to omit Beckham from olympic squad but cannot believe Ryan Giggs has been picked. This, the Proud Welshman who seemed to find an injury everytime his country had a friendly game!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Disagree m8 .. beckham should be there ..
done alot for the games . and still a good player .. and dont forget .. we will be knock out early .. stuart p.. crap manager ..

maximus

Agree1 Disagree1

No way should Beckham be there. The Olympics are not some sort of cosy testimonials for has-beens to have a last run out in front of their fans. Maybe Lord Coe should be allowed a trot round the 800m as well?

Agree1 Disagree0

You obviously don't understand the concept, the olympics are for everyone, not just football supporters, people who wish to see an icon lime Becks play at the end of his career, however, a talentless fool like Pearce has chosen bellamy...says it all {Ed001's Note - you clearly know nothing about the concept, the idea of the Olympics is to try and win. Nothing to do with 'icons', it is about competing. Which is why Pearce is the worst choice for manager, he is useless at best. But, to suggest picking Becks because a few simpletons want to watch him prance about the pitch, is just idiotic. The best possible team should have been picked.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed001.. normally agree with you ..
but becks should be playing .. ive you watched are main team .. yes crap as well .. if we had 18 players that you would say .. are good ..then yes .. dont pick him.. but we havent ..

maximus {Ed001's Note - sorry but I disagree, he is playing in the MLS, which is dire. I would rather pick a 17 year old than give him yet more of a chance to take over the occasion in front of the cameras. He turns everything into a media circus, which is the last thing an U23 team needs. Though I wouldn't have picked Bellamy either, no matter how brilliant he was last season, he needs to rest his knees, not play meaningless games.}

Oliver Norwood has just joined Huddersfield Town. Just saying that maybe this is a replacement for Rhodes as he's probably going to Reading.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Just goes to show how much you know about football really, Norwood plays in midfield & Rhodes is a striker, so that wud make it a terrible replacement !

Breaking news from Derby County. The Rams have had a £1.75m bid for Nicky Maynard accepted, negotiations will start later this week.

Jason Shackell is still a Ram at the moment but sources tell me that Leicester City could make a £1.75m offer for the centre back. Derby currently looking at Pearce from Notts County as well as Magnus Okuonghae.

This is Don's season. After announcing the arrival of Mick Harford and Ian Wright to the backroom staff it's already looking very positive.

It could see some very exciting new signings - now that Winkle is splashing the cash.

It could see the signing of Alan Smith who will be a great asset. As well as the possibility of re-signing of Mk Dons top goal scorer Izale McLeod, who is currently a free agent after being released by Barnet.

Mick Harford who has stepped into John Gormans boots has had wealth of experience scouting players for various clubs.Between him and Karl they set their eyes upon five new players.

The squad who wont change over summer however, it will be added to and strengthened.

Ian Wright as part of back room staff, how is that positive?

Missed out on Jason Pearce, missed out on joel ward, Steve Davies and now Oliver norwood, if you believe the rumours on this site that is. Its time burnley signed someone to show their intent for the future, right now I see a potential battle for survival with the lacklustre team Eddie howe has put together with the likes of Charlie Austin and Keith Treacey, who are league one players at best

oliver norwood has signed for town! still think we're deluded reading fans?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Who is Oliver Norwood? Not an established player - was on loan at Coventry and they got relegated. Hardly a marquee signing

21, Northern Irish International, been at Man U since 7. They wanted to keep him but he wants regular first team football. Time will tell, but he fits the Town model of buying young up and coming footballers, e,g. Pilkington, Peltier, Rhodes, ward, Novak.

Don't know why Jordan Rhodes is such a risk for the Premiership if / when he leaves Huddersfield. Adam Le Fondre has been a big hit in the Championship and he was previously at Rotherham, and Royals fans do not want him to leave, and I think Jordan is more of a prolific striker than Alfie imho (do not get me wrong I think Alfie deserves a chance in the Premiership but also think competition for places will be good as well as this is one of the things that let us down last time when Steve Coppell kept sticking with the same side even though they were not in form.

Am I alone in hoping that the news that Beckham isn't going to be in the GB Olympic team is the last we ever hear of him? For 15 years now I've been bored stiff by constant media stories about a player who was at best an above average dead ball merchant who happened to be good looking? The cult of celebrity around him lead people to think he was a far better player than he was and his England career was at least 3 years too long and the fact that he has more caps than players like Hoddle, Shearer and Gascoigne is just embarrassing. His patriotism is also a bit bogus as he as stated he has no intention of returning from the US when he stops playing (playing for England basically meant more exposure and therefore more lucrative endorsements) Rant over

Getting a bit fed up with these Huddersfield supporters going on about how Jordan Rhodes is not going anywhere. I am a Reading supporter and I do not know if he is going to Reading or not, but I would be keen to bet any money that he will not be putting on a Huddersfield shirt next season. They say they do not need the money, but show him contracts and deals that he could get by moving away from Huddersfield, and he will be about as loyal as Capello was to England. I bet he is not earning £30000+ a week at Galpharm. If you ask a player who would he rather be playing against and give him a choice of Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal or Peterborough, Charlton and Bristol City (no disrespect intended to them) then tell him that he could earn £30000 just for playing 90 minutes of football it is not rocket science. The lad is going. Where? I do not know. I would not mind him at Reading but whether he is with us or not, he will not be a Terrier next season now he knows what he can earn by going somewhere else. Money talks so Huddersfield fans, say goodbye now.

Believable5 Unbelievable5

I'm a Town supporter and agree with you with regard to a footballer wanting to do the best in his career that he can, but a player can choose his own path and stages to get there to a club that is right for him.
I'm also getting fed up. Reading fans thinking they are the next big thing and talking as though they are going to march through the Premiership.
If Jordan wants to go to Reading I'll be surprised, but if he does I would wish him well. I have met him and he is a young gent. I believe there is a better future for him than Reading.
Jordan will be leaving at some stage, like just about every player at any club, if it's this close season, then goodbye Jordan, and if it is to Reading, show us the colour of your money and stop talking about what you have.
