After bringing in Jack Cork in the next week the only players Burnley will then look to bring in will be an expirenced center half to help out Bikey and a left winger as Ross Wallace hasn't stepped up to the mark.

. . . Grant . . .

Mears . Bikey . ? . Fox

Eagles . Mccann. Cork . ?

. . Rodriguez . Paterson .

Subs: Jensen, Duff, Wallace, Bartley, Edgar
Austin.

Outs: Iwelumo, Cort and Carlisle - all over 30, wage bill needs to be cut and they are high earners but not in Howe's plans.

With the likes of West Ham, Leicester, Brum and Forrest automatic will be out of reach.

Play offs are the target and with the likes Mears, Bikey, Mccann, Cork, Eagles, Rodriguez etc will be a great bet.

Wolves will try and do business on the cheap again this year and yet again miss out on targets, i.e. Johnson, Mills, Ridgewell, Evans, Wallace. Come on Moxey pull your finger out

Believable2 Unbelievable1

The only other club that might pay £3 million for Lee Wallace are Wigan.Rangers will not pay that fee.And have had a £1 million pound deal turned down bye the man with a year left on his contract.

Doncaster in:
Jordan Rhodes 1.1m ( Huddersfield )
Richard Naylor Free
Elis Deeney ( Aston Villa )
------------------------

Jordan Rhodes is staying at Huddersfield, and if he goes it will be if Huddersfield don't get promoted this season.
-----------------------------------------
And where are Doncaster supposed to get the 1.1 mill for Rhodes, only way we could afford him would be if Matt mills was sold for a high price and we got about that figure in the money we receive in the sell on clause

Believable1 Unbelievable0

So he will be going then

__________________________________________________________________________

Your in dream land mate, Wigan have blagged it in the prem from day one, your history is non existant, your fan base is among the smallest in the top two leagues Youve had a good run, congratulations, but when you go back down, you wont be back, you will fall back into the abyss of being a "nothing" team. And once Mr Whealan goes, well. Then you will be in big trouble A team like Wolves is stooped in history, huge fan base, Founding member of the English league, European trophys, league trophys, FA cups, Dominant team in Europe at one point. Enjoy what you have while it lasts, but your on borrowed time

Well seen as he has agreed to join Swansea, you must have your facts wrong. plus i cant remember the last time Burnley could even finish above Cardiff in the league. Hows Steven Thompson doing for you?

--------

Last time I checked Steven Thompson wasn't at Burnley. He wasn't offered a new contract. And as for the when was the last time Burnley finished ahead of Cardiff? Try 2008/09 and 2004/05

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Steven Thompson is in Paisley, ready to play for his boy hood heroes St Mirren.I think they would take Iwelumo back in a flash to.If he wanted a loan, or got paid off.

To the Leeds fans spouting bull, Ken Bates is the type of man that likes to line his own pockets with gold. Your 'profits' have gone into Bates' back pocket and he will take every penny possible from your club.

Nice how you're told you will sign players at a time when season ticket sales need beefing up to, again, line the pockets of this man.

You sold one of the most promising goalkeepers in the Championship, your claims are that it was for profit, for who? Ken Bates or his 'beloved' Leeds? And this replacement that was lined up, has he signed yet or was it not Paul Rachubka afterall because I hear no strong links or movement in the transfer market when it concerns Leeds.

I'm a Chelsea fan and know the type of man Ken Bates is... Protest, get the greedy old man out of your club and have somebody build it in the way you want it building.

Ohh... One final thing, your corporate facilities have been upgraded recently. Says it all

Good news for Tottenham fans Daniel Levy has told Luka Modric he will not be allowed to leave this summer.Chelsea will turn their attention to Palermo starlet Javier Pastore who is valued at £38m around 45 million euros this could in turn help Liverpool as Palermo are keen on Alberto Aquilani who Liverpool expect to sell for around half the £18m they paid for him two years ago.The transfer window is really hotting up and it will be the biggest window in years by the end of August in my opinion a lot of big moves.

Liverpool have agreed a £7m deal for Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam and are set to make one more take it or leave it offer for Stewart Downing thought to be worth around £17m.Liverpool are also close to signing Roma goalkeeper Doni on a free transfer while a £6m deal for Jose Enrique is also in the works as Liverpool really get moving in this transfer window.Milan Jovanovic is set to sign for Olympiakos after being released by Liverpool.Chis Mavinga is also set to leave the club after the club agreed a £750,000 fee with Rennes while fellow French youngster David N'Gog is thought to be on his way to Villa for around £4m{separate deal to Downing}.West Ham have made a £3m move for Joe Cole however I can't see Cole agreeing to play in the Championship.Liverpool are looking to offload a number of other players such as Konchesky, B.Jones, Aquilani, Poulsen, Degen etc. in order to fund moves for Daniel Sturridge and Gary Cahill.Liverpool could be a force next year despite not signing any world beaters the club are starting to fill holes in their squad with solid premiership footballers who will fight for the club unlike some of the so called stars their at the minute.

Bristol City fan in dreamland? They would probably accept a £4 million bid, considering they paid £2.25m and he's on the last year of his contract, £4.75m would almost certainly be accepted.
It's simple, if he rejects a contract from Bristol City, which he probably will with the reports of "larger" clubs interested in him, then he will go, probably for between £3.5m and £4.5m. {Ed025's Note - sounds fair to me.

Just a quick run through of my recent record:

- Barnsley are on the verge of signing Jim McNulty from Brighton. Next on Keith Hill's list is Adam Le Fondre and a loan for Craig Dawson from WBA to replace Jason Shackell. If not, Miles Addison could be a loan target. (McNulty and Addison signed)

- Bristol City look set to strengthen their centre midfield area with the free capture of Neil Kilkenny from Leeds. (Kilkenny signed)

- Eddie Howe is preparing for life without the services of Chris McCann and Jack Cork, lining up a deal to sign David Fox from Norwich if McCann leaves. (McCann actually stayed at Burnley to stay loyal to the team who gave him a chance)

- Cardiff will sign Andrew Taylor from Middlesborough, and replace the outgoing Jay Bothroyd with former hero Robert Earnshaw, to partner with big John Parkin. (Taylor signed, Earnshaw signed)

- Coventry will sign Joe Murphy from Scunthorpe on a free to replace new Sunderland keeper Kieran Westwood. (Murphy signed)

- Derby will benefit from Luke Varney's move to Portsmouth by freeing up a wage and moving to sign Watford's John Eustace or Aron Gunnarsson, plus a move for Martyn Waghorn from Leicester City. (Varney set to sign for Pompey. Gunnarsson looks set for Cardiff now, whilst Leicester are waiting to secure another striker before letting Waghorn go.)

- Doncaster have all but signed Tommy Spurr and Richard Naylor, whilst Paul Parry and Kevin McDonald are also targets for Sean O'Driscoll. (Spurr signed, Naylor set to, McDonald is on trial at Donny but Parry's wage demands have held up a deal there)

- Hull have made a move for Leicester keeper Chris Weale after being unable to tie up permanent deals for Brad Guzan and Vito Mannone, coupled with Leicester signing Kasper Schmeichel. (Hull have offered £500k but Leicester want a bit more...could be news soon)

- Hull have made Preston an improved offer for winger Keith Treacy, around £1m plus Andy Dawson. This suits all parties as Phil Brown is keen to work with Dawson again, and is actively seeking a left back. The only stumbling blocks could be Treacy's willingness to move over to Humberside or Dawson's wage demands. (Treacy is up in Scotland at the minute and not considering his future yet.)

- Ipswich Town had their bid for Billy Sharp rejected today, and will now move for Ched Evans instead. Jewell is also keen on QPR's Hogan Ephraim, but it looks unlikely that they'll get him. (Evans deciding between Leicester and Ipswich at the moment)

- Leeds have moved to sign Paul Rachubka, but are wanting another goalkeeper. Talks are ongoing with Preston over the potential transfer of Andy Lonergan, in a bid to replace Kasper Schmeichel. Grayson also wants to a bit more steel in the midfield, attempting to bring in Nick Montgomery or Keith Southern. (Lonergan set to sign)

- Leicester have been linked with a plethora of players so far, but Sven is keeping his cards close to his chest. Steve Howard looks like being sold to Sheffield Wednesday as it stands, and Sven wants to bring in Ishmael Miller to replace Yakubu, who probably won't be returning to the Walkers. Sven also wants a left back, centre back, central midfielder and wide man before the window shuts. (Sven has got his centre back and centre mid in St. Ledger and Danns. Masilela will be the LB)

- Middlesbrough will sell Marvin Emnes to Swansea City and will try to sign Giles Barnes to replace him. There are certain reservations over his fitness, so Paddy McCourt is another option for Boro. (Doesn't actually look like any of these will happen anymore - hand held up)

- Millwall are still trying to replace the void left by Steve Morison by lining up a move to sign Sheffield United striker Darius Henderson. I believe Jackett is relatively happy with his current squad, though a new left back may be on his shopping list. (Henderson signed)

- Steve McClaren has got a lot of work to do at Forest, with Earnshaw, Wilson and McKenna all leaving the club. Not sure yet on his targets, but Nugent was mentioned. (Nugent gone to Leicester instead)

- Steve Cotterill had made a bid to sign Chris McCann but it looks like he'll be off to Bolton with Owen Coyle. Heard he's made tentative enquiries for Andy Gray from Barnsley and wants Craig Fagan, a free after his spell at Hull. (Gray still a target but Fagan appears to be going to either Preston or Huddersfield Town.)

- Southampton to turn their attentions away from Sean St. Ledger and move for Nigel Adkins' former Scunthorpe defender David Mirfin. (Mirfin offered better chance of first team football at Watford, so went there)

More news will be coming soon, so stay tuned to the real man in the know

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Have been told that Nigel Adkins is keen on bringing Benni McCarthy to Southampton on a free following his release from West Ham after a move for Andy Johnson seems to have stalled. McCarthy is expected to sign this week on a two-year deal.

Also, expect the Jack Cork deal to be completed within the next couple of days.

As well as those deals, Dexter Blackstock has had talks over a move back to St Marys and is considering rejoining for a fee of around £600,000.

Former Saints keeper Maik Taylor is rejoining on a one-year deal following his release from Birmingham.

Birmingham midfielder Nathan Redmond will also sign on a three year deal for around £400,000.

the thing with roque santa cruz going to rangers would be great for himself and rangers as in the past 3 seasons he has only managed 29 appereances, at gers he would have that many games in 1 season, he would be willing to go there on loan, and take a bit of a wage cut.

Another average player joins Liverpool, Charlie Adam , downing is next, I'm sure Liverpool will be competitive next season, but lack top class players to win the league, top 6 finish for sure but top 4? Gonna need better players than Adam, downing , Carroll, Henderson who wouldn't look out of place playing for mid table teams like sunderland, stoke, villa, none would be wanted by city , chelsea or united, they ain't good enough

As a Bristol City fan, I am sorry to say that while working up in Leicester yesterday, Nicky Maynard was seen at the Walkers stadium. Apparently he is in talks with Leicester but will have to wait until the clubs both agree a fee. In other news, Southampton are ready to offload captain rickie lambert after the striker had a training ground bust up with Nigel Adkins. 'small club' leeds united will be featured on sky six times before the end of october......this is due to the fact that they are not famous anymore and in a dire financial position and they wont have any players to pick from as they are selling them all this is also due to the fact that last season they had the biggest average attendance of any team in the championship and will do again this season (this is sarcasm bye the way).

Believable2 Unbelievable1

You had a high attendence due to the fact that you are all mugs. You have 6 screenings because you have the most glory fans that you have accumalted over the years that are willing to tune in from Ireland and London rather than pay to attend games. (thats not sarcasm by the way). Leeds are now tinpot and it is not because of bates its because of the fans mentality.

'A transfer from wigan to any club is surely a step up from playing infront of an empty stadium every week'

Does that really matter? + the stadium isn't empty the average is 18-20,000 depending on games which leaves about 4,000 empty seats which compared to some clubs is nothing Just because Wigan have a smaller stadium doesnt mean that it is empty compared to the likes of Wolves, Blackburn and Birmingham who probably have about the same amounts of empty seats just Bigger stadiums which means bigger attendances

And have you ever seen or been to Wigan? It's is 40minutes away from Manchester United, Bolton Wanderers, Liverpool, Everton, Blackpool, PNE, Blackburn, Manchester City amongst others which Wigan have to compete with for fans when you look at other clubs who have 1 or 2 clubs to compete with

As much as you say 'oh Wigan have an empty stadium why would players leave their' it's crap Wigan have around the same amount of empty seats as other similar sized prem clubs just they have bigger stadiums

Wigan are finacialy stable, can pay good wages, have a great young squad, a great Chairman who can keep the club working and keeping them in the premier league by means that the club can survive off, now we have one of the best and most up an coming young managers in the world who has the team playing the right kind of football

Plus your probably just upset because our rubbish, little football club keeps denying the odds where every one in football is against them but yet Wigan Athletic are the only team never to have been relegated from Englands top flight

Go on put us as favourites to get relegated again, I dare you We love it

Were little Wigan, were taking the p*ss
We ate premier league, I said we are premier league

Believable0 Unbelievable1

18 to 20 thousand average??? WHERE did you get your stats from? More like 14 thousand, only time your stadium is full is when Newcastle, Man utd come to town and only cos they outnumber the home support. Hats off to Wigan for surviving in the premier league on such low gates, income etc.

That's unfair about Lonergan. Darren Ferguson ripped the heart out out the Preston defence and left him completely exposed. Ferguson had a "you score two, we'll score three" attitude which rarely worked. He left us open at the back and not strong enough up front. He was the reason we went down. He was a very poor manager of Preston North End. Lonergan is a good keeper - put him with quality players and he will flourish, wherever he ends up. Good luck to him. he's a nice guy and deserves some success. {Ed026's Note - I feel the same, But i also feel that we needed a change after having Lonergan for so long we needed a change and i think Relegation showed us that}

Quote from Ken Bates at Leeds

"I can confirm we are in serious discussions with a number of players, " Bates told Yorkshire Radio. "We are looking to sign four players.

"There are three that we failed to get because they signed for Premier League clubs, but that shows the quality we are trying to get it, and you can't blame the players.

"I'm not going into too much detail because it's stupid to comment on what you are doing when all you do is alert the competition.

"There are rumours you read in the papers, that this club is going to offer x for someone and y for someone else. It's all newspaper talk or agents trying to stimulate interest.

"I can assure fans that we have no intentions of selling our top players unless the offer is so ridiculous that it will enable Simon to strengthen his team in other ways.

"Our aim this year is to get in the Premier League and not be a breeding ground for others."

Cardiff City are in talks with Watford FC over a proposed move for Watford FC. Since joining Cardiff FC as manager, Malky Mackay started talks between the two clubs to relocate the Vicarage Road club somewhere in the Leckwith area of Cardiff. Cardiff City Stadium, the current home of Cardiff City FC, is favourite to be the new location for Watford FC, who will subsequently be named "Cardiff City Football Club". There are already plans in place for a zoo to fill the vacant space in Vicarage Road, Watford.

If you measure by average attendance at home games, the answer is that Wednesday has traditionally been the bigger club.

From the War (1946/47 season) through to 2001/02 season, Wedneday had the higher gates in 45 seasons and United in 11. However, the difference between the two has often been quite small.

With all this boardroom shenanigans, it's no wonder that Warnock, has, thus far, been thwarted in his attempts to strengthen the squad. He knows that the following are required:

RB
LB
CB x 1
RW
CM
AM
LW
ST

The right back role WILL be filled with Naughton (loan from Spurs), the centre back will be either Haim or Upson, He still hopes that Routledge will sign and continue as his RW. Smith plays adequately at left wing, so no hurry there, and with Taarabt almost gone, Joe Cole will fill that position :

CM/HM - Bowyer
ST - Johnson

That'll gives us some options up front:

Mackie
Johnson
Hulse
Helgerson

Coventry - Further details of the Hoffman takeover bid continue to emerge. Hoffman is back by a Chinese consortium who want to acquire Coventry City, as well as securing 50% of the company which rents the Ricoh Stadium.

However, the bid is based on SISU, the current owners, placing the club into administration first. The Hoffman consortium want SISU to accept that this is the only way that SISU can recover some of their initial investment. It will also allow Hoffman's team to devote most of their resources towards stadium plans, rather than use it to pay SISU.

SISU have rejected the bid but remain receptive to another approach.

In the meantime, SISU plan to sell Jutkiewicz, Turner, Clingan and Cranie

The current offer, which has been informally agreed, amounts to £12.5 million, most of which is payable over a 3 or 4 year period.

The fee has been agreed despite what some stupid fans think. Clubs don't just fax through an offer without some form of prior negotiation. Southampton haven't received the formal bid yet but there have been discussions for months now.
