Rickie Lambert for England??

Just throwing it out there for discussion. Currently leading goal scorer at Southampton in the Champ, and whilst he no youngester he boasts experience.

And should* the Saints gain promotion this season (notice I said 'should' before you start slagging this post off) and start banging them in at Prem level - surely he can't be ignored?

Thoughts please!?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Not for me pal sorry having a good season but atleast differerent been international class! n ross mccormack the other top scores cant even get in scotland squad

Agree1 Disagree0

Yes Lambert can be ignored, there are at least 15 strikers before him, on current form alone.

Agree1 Disagree0

RL has the experince and skill to operate at that level, but lacks the pace to be given the oppotunity. I've yet to see another in the Championship with a better all round game than Lambert and I dont agree that there are 15 better english strikers than him. Forget the scots - not in the same league as the English.....:-)

Agree0 Disagree1

Not sure who the 15 strikers are before Rickie on current form? I think he should at least get called up for a friendly match - bring back the England 'B' team!

Agree0 Disagree0

Love him but not even proven at Premiership level yet

Agree1 Disagree0

He is top scorer cos 8 of his 9 goals have been penalties

Agree0 Disagree0

Nine goals already - wow that good and on course for another count of 30 plus for the season....nice one rickiiiiii

Agree0 Disagree0

Why not give him a go steve bull got his chance a while back

Agree0 Disagree0

I initially thought 'no way' but the fact he scores from penalties gives 'food for thought'!

Quality quote from Martin O'neill " speak to me when you dont have a manager" so they sacked SVE and offered O,neill the job who then flatly turned them down FAF

Believable0 Unbelievable4

Who did he say that to?

Whilst it was a terrible performance agaisnt Doncaster on Saturday on the back of some woeful form. I just wanted to say our supporters showed great class by applauding Billy Sharp for his goal and when subbed off and he was dignified and courages in his post match interview. Top bloke.

Look anyone with an ounce of football knowledge will tell you that LCFC has MORE talent on the subs bench than Norwich has in their entire squad! yes you might be in the PL but for how long? I will say right here right now Norwich will be playing Championship football next season!

--

Lets have a look at teams from the last game:

Schmeichel Vs Ruddy - ive seen both play lots Ruddy is better.

Peltier Vs Kyle Naughton - Naughton hands down

Mills (c) Vs Martin Mills wins as Martin is a right back by trade as our 3 other first team CBS are injured.

Bamba Vs Barnett - Not a huge amount in it, il give it to Bamba due to being pissed off with Barnetts error at the weekend.

Konchesky Vs Tierny - Tierny, Konchesky is past it, can no longer cut it at Prem level.

Gallagher Vs Pilkington - Similar type of player, Pilkingtons goal record in the league above speaks for itself.

King Vs Hoolahan - Cant seperate them, both class, both in team of the year last year. Only thing to seperate them is King is younger so has more time to become a better player.

Wellens Vs Bennet - Dont know enough about Wellens to comment, but Bennet has been fantastic in the prem so dont see Wellens being an improvement.

Danns Vs Johnson - Both available for free in the summer, 1 ends up in the prem, one in the Championship. Speaks volumes.

Howard Vs Holt - No contest Holt is head and shoulders (as well as a whole league) above. Goal and assist record proves this.

Nugent Vs Morisson - Again Morisson has a better goal record and has been getting praise from everyone for his performances this season.

I make that 7-2 to Norwich with 2 i couldnt choose between. Our performances in the prem, our league standing, the league we are in all point to us having the more talent. When we were in the same league with a much worse squad last year we were miles ahead of you. Face it you are a mid table Championship team with a bit of cash to spend, it doesn't bring instant success. Just look at Ipswich. A few seasons ago they were goading us with £10 notes from the stands, now we are flying high in the league above and they are slipping down the league again.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Ruddy better than kasper?blackpool 5 leeds 0 all goals ruddy at fault thats why they have loaned a gk from reading numb nut {Ed001's Note - Ruddy doesn't play for Leeds!!}

Agree0 Disagree0

Christ you're not the sharpest knife in the draw are you? I'm comparing the squads of Norwich and Leicester after a Leicester fan made the wild statement they had more talent on their bench than our whole team and for some reason you start talking about Blackpool Vs Leeds. Leeds' GK is Rachubka who is sh*te to say the least (hes also only there as backup to Lonergan) where as John Ruddy is the Norwich GK who while not keeping many clean sheets (due to injuries in defence and the need for a more experienced CB) has been praised highly by pundits and managers alike, and also been linked with an England call up (not as first choice obviously). Think before you post!

Anything compared to Southampton is bigger, as they are a small club.....simples.

Really and who do you support....
makes us p#ssing the league even better then....beating all these bigger clubs convincingly on our way.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thats a great bit of banter plumb...as a club we have always punched well above our weight and loved it.....we've had the bad times and now we are back, and hope to punch well above our weight again....thanks for the compliment buba....
