At most Liverpool will complete two main pieces of business during the January transfer window, they will be Martin Skrtel and Javier Mascherano (Mascherano is not a dead cert though).
Benitez has some targets lined up for the Summer but there is so much uncertainty around the club that nothing should be expected at the moment. He's looking at:
Pasquale Foggia on a free transfer.
Gabriel Heinze.

Edinburgh Rumours
Mixu Paatelanian's first signing will be Ian Murray from Norwich.
Hearts are to appoint Mark McGhee as Head Coach and first signings will be Bosmans, Barry Nicholson and Ross McCormack, Vlad hopes to get them to come in January with a little financial persuasuion to Motherwell and the Sheep.

Hibernian Rumours
Hibernian are going to sign at least two new players this week Ian Murray of Norwich on loan and Colin Nish of Kilmarnock.
Hibernian may also make a move for Ian black of Inverness as he said he would like to play in Edinburgh someday. They will also sign Mika Aaritalo a forward from the club that mixu used to manage.

I have heard from a realiable source that Celtic have a bid accepted for Everton player andrew johnson. I cannot say for sure the price but I think around 5–7 million will be the fee. it is however possible that vennegor of hesselink was part of the deal as it was rumoured that Everton were wanting to sign him.

Newcastle will look to have a manager in place for the home game against Bolton next weekend. I know this as a fact. Ashley is in Hong Kong but has a hot line with Mort going. Mort first call today was to the agent of Jose Mourinho, however he declined. There next choice is Lippi who said he would consider it and said he would offer Alan Shearer the Assistant managers job.
Newcastle will also have the option to sign Lassana Diarra. The deal has been agreed, $5.5 million, and will go through if the new manager wants him.
