The SFA are set to meet this week, after being less than impressed with Craig Levein and his tactics against the Czech Republic.

The SFA want David Moyes to be the Scotland boss, but he already has a media contract pending to be a new host on the new-look Match Of The Day. It is possible that he could still do this as Scotland boss, but he would in essence be a 'part time' boss. Not what the SFA would want, but they may still compromise.

Levein, however, would not be short of job offers and he may be on for a move to Preston as manager if Darren Ferguson gets the sack. Sheffield Wednesday may also be a future destination for him, with a takeover planned and Alan Irvine's long-term future at the club far from certain.(1)(3)

Martin foyle will be unveiled as the new hereford boss next week.

talks went well between the owners and foyle, but martin allen, jim harvey, ian butterworth and julian alsop are also interested in the vacancy and will be interviewed this week.

lennie lawrence may also join, but as director of football and not in a playing staff capacity. lennie knows ian butterworth from their time at cardiff, and has mentioned him to hereford as good management material.(0)(0)

Fabio Capello could be about to axe Ashley Cole from the England squad, as he has been very impressed with the development of Kieran Gibbs.

This may infact suit Cole, as he wants to move abroad to get away from the media and concentrate on the rest of his career.

Also, Jack Wilshere is to pressure 'old stagers' Frank Lampard and Steve Gerrard for a permanent starting place in the England team.(5)(22)

Colin sexstone will quit his role at bristol city if they do not get backing to build their new stadium.(5)(4)

 11 Oct 2010 21:55:05
Pepe Reina has, apparently, handed in a transfer request at Anfield.

The Spanish 'keeper is not happy with the current state of the club, and this has put Manchester United and Chelsea on red alert.

If no sale of the club is agreed by Friday, expect a few big name stars to hand in transfer requests too - this includes Fernando Torres, Dirk Kuyt and Stevie G. Yes, that's right - Stevie G (Mr. Liverpool) would quit Anfield if the club is not sold on. Chelsea would cough up £60m straight off, and Man City would match that price.(15)(17)

Paul Quinn is to be loaned out to a League 1 club, with Huddersfield and Swindon the most likely of destinations.

This follows a big row at the Vale Hotel where Paul Quinn called Dave Jones an offensive name (clue - if you know about Dave Jones' history, you'll know what the word is). Dave almost knocked Paul Quinn out, and had to be restrained by playing and coaching staff.

Quinn has no future at the Cardiff City Stadium, and will be even further down the pecking order once Glenn Loovens returns to Cardiff from Celtic in January.(11)(4)

Re: I'm no financial expert

I'm not one either, but if United made an operating profit of £100m but posted an overall loss of £80m then their total non-football losses must have been £180m. This seems to have been composed of on-going debt servicing costs plus a one-off cost incurred when the exisiting debts were restructured last year.

Like Liverpool, United seems to be a sound business, capable of generating good surpluses from its normal football and related activities, that is being hamstrung by heavy debts brought about by the way the club was purchased.

Plymouth genuine news. Vivien pengelly the council leader is to launch an investigation into the plymouth argyle boards running of the club. Plymouth city council has invested huge sums of public money in the world cup bid, only to see the directors run the club into the ground. Plymouths board directors face losing everything, all their schemes if the council turns against them. Plymouth argyle is in meltdown unless major investment is pumped in now, to not only stabilise but re-enthushe the fans. Personally I wonder whether the board has lost the fans completely with a dictatorial attitude, its so simple to my eyes, you charge reasonable prices £15 max for a ticket, you get some character into the stadium, put on some fun for the crowd, don't let your stewards act like soldiers, and don't make people feel ripped off, people respond to not being treated like ignorant fools, and always fulfill your obligations even the smallest of details, Argyles board can p%"s off now, and not come back, people read between the lines your useless rhetoric fools nobody.

I agree - the 'we will invest after the 2018 announcement' is bogus. They have no plans and no vision for Plymouth.

I have, however, heard that a new bid for the club could be made in the new year. Maybe 'rough it out' this season and go for promotion next year - Brighton and Peterborough for me are dead certs. to go up and the play-offs are too much of a lottery. If we go Sheffield Wednesday or Swindon in them, I would not feel too confident.

UP THE ARGYLE!(17)(5)
