Can anyone confirm who this was outside celtics ground today? just after he muscled in on my friends photo, 2 security guys led him over to a big fancy car. i thought it looked like neil lennon, thought everyone was away to america?
To me he looks like Bellamy.If it is then photo might've been taken last time he played at the club rather than today.Hope it was taken today tho.

Peter Whittingham has been offered a 3 year deal with Newcastle.
If he agrees to sign, the fee will be £1.75m which will help Cardiff in their debt struggles.
If David Jones becomes Fulham boss, Michael Chopra will move with him for £3m. David Jones will loan Simon Davies and Andy Johnson to Cardiff.
Ross McCormack will join Blackpool, and Cardiff will get Jack Collison on a season–long loan from West Ham United. Stephen Caldwell is also joining Cardiff on a 2 year deal.

ED, any of these true about what i was told tonight.. i was around west hams ground and got told that west ham have bid for ronaldinho £10mil (shirt sales no10 shirt will recover money spent) huntelaar £8.5mil (new no9), traore arsenal £2mil (no3), hitzlsperger new (no5) and finally a winger/striker on loan will be hernandez from manu (no11). because all could be pulled off if players want regular games {editor's note – I don't know anything about the Ronaldinho or Huntelaar ones, but the Traore one would make sense as he is definitely up for grabs this summer. Hasn't Hitzlsperger already signed for you? As for Hernandez, I don't have a clue what united want to do with him, I doubt they will loan him out before the close of the transfer window though, just in case. The loan window doesn't close until after the permanent window so they can do the loan deals after they have their squad sorted.}

Arda Turan set to sign for Liverpool by end of July a deal has been accepted around 13mil to be announced shortly, according to my source Spurs offered the same but he opted for Liverpool good on him. He will fly to Anfield next week for medical and to finalize details just as soon as he returns form his Holiday not sure of dates for that. Expect Joe Cole to follow at around the same time

burnley are also rumoured to be in the hunt for cardiff star peter whittingham, after the sale of joe ledley cardiff are still in debt and offloading another major player would ease those worries of a financial meltdown for the welsh club, it is thought that burnley will complete the signing of whittingham when the first team are on there tour of singapore and he will start training with his new team mates when they return.

i can tell you that preston have won the race for gary hooper's signature and have given stephen elliot in exchange and nolan on loan for season with view to permanent deal.
This seems a little optimistic, Ferguson has said to quote the Lancashire Evening Post.
"The new chairman has come in and we've worked well together. I've given him a list of players I want and he's already got two of them with Craig Morgan and Wayne Brown coming in this week.
"A few lads have gone out of the club in the last few days which helps us in terms of financing new signings.
"Ideally I'd like another three or four, things are ongoing at the moment and they can take time to sort out.
"It would be nice to get another deal done while were out here but realistically it will be after we get home.
"I know my targets, we haven't got millions to spend, so we'll wait and see what happens. If it's a player from the Premier League you want on loan, sometimes you have to wait for them to do pre–season training at their club."
This to me hints he is waiting on the loan market but if not Scunny want around 2.5million for Hooper ok they prob won't get that but even if its 1.5milion he has already stated he hasn't got millions to spend make of it what you will.

I have heared from a number of people that the brother of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan (Man City owner) is closing in and is due to finalise a deal for completion of the take–over of Liverpool.
Now, I don't post many rumours (although previously have posted one correct relevant to a Leeds UTD transfer of a Liverpool born lad) and appreciate that this rumour may have been whispered about and published before, but the Chinese whisper around Liverpool is that this take–over is imminent. Please believe me when I say that I wouldn't just post it if I believe it wasn't true because I wouldn't – I read enough fabricated footy manager rumours on here to not fall for that se and I don't think i'm as naive to believe all the street rumours – this time i've got a feeling something is brewing up. {editor's note – the most he can do is place a bid mate. Celtic will announce the signings of Daryl Murphy and Mexican international Juarez in the next day or so. The Juarez deal has been known for a few days but this will be concluded by the end of the week, the delay has been down to negotiating the sell on clause in his contract, which will be a four year deal.
Juarez is already in America with the hoops squad, whilst 6 foot two Murphy is expected to join up before their game with Manchester United.

I was speaking to a family friend who works very closely at PNE. On asking him if Darren Ferguson would be getting any of his Dads players on loan (Man U), he said they had enquired about Welbeck and couple of others, but has been told that Blackpool are supposedly getting a striker on loan, he didn't know who, but the Welbeck deal was dependant on Man U's transfer activity, post the Blackpool deal.
I assume it would be Macheda or Diouf to Blackpool.

This might be just wishfull thinking but i am starting to believe that we (leeds) might be trying to sign hooper on the quite. we have been heavily linked to both mcarthur and hooper yet grayson came out today on the leeds website stating that we are not trying to sign mcarthur. if we are not trying to sign hooper then why not state it at the same time. we know hooper is going somewhere because he has been left out of scthorpes pre season friendlies. i might be adding 2 and 2 togeather and getting 5 but i thought i would share my theory! garyd MOT
You might have a point here a few papers have claimed Leeds have tabled a 1.5million bid and nothing got said, the papers state we bid 750k for Mcarthur and we say its not true, hope it has legs but the pessimists among us might say Grayson hasn't been asked the question to deny it, i think he was being interviewed about the slovakia tour and the journalist through it in so he commented, your best guide line is the Yorkshire Evening Post because they talk to Leeds all the time and as far as i know didn't run the Mcarthur story but have claimed a few times Hooper is a target, having said that nothing is said til the deal is done so speculate we shall!

Liverpool's Christian Purslow has been cornered by his Real Madrid counterpart over the valuation of skipper Steven Gerrard.
The Liverpool midfielder's agent has told the Spanish giants that Gerrard wants a move to Madrid after personal terms were agreed 2 months ago.
Gerrard was given assurances by Reds Managing Director Christian Purslow that his exit would be approved "without problems" providing he publicly backed the appointment of new boss Roy Hodgson which he did.
Purslow was desperate to hire Hodgson knowing that he would be unable to prevent the sale of key players as he would have to come in under the terms made clear to him before taking the job.
Initially we had hoped that former boss Rafa Benitez was going to be axed to make way for new owners, especially as Sheikh Khalifa was linked with us at the same time, but that wasn't the case. Instead he was shown the door because he would never have stood by and watched Purslow sell players and reduce the wage bill to the extent that he is planning. Neither would Kenny Dalglish which is why he was ignored for the Liverpool job and why he has currently distanced himself from the current regime by taking unscheduled leave.
Our source at the Bernabeu tells us that they are not in for Ashley Cole as widely reported by the British media but that they are in for Gerrard and remain very confident of signing him despite the huge difference in valuations.
The media want us to believe that Gerrard is too old for Real Madrid yet the Spanish giants would shell out even more money for Cole who is just 7 months younger than the Liverpool skipper? It's all spin fed by agents and it should be ignored.
As revealed by KOPTALK last year, Gerrard's agent was informed by Christian Purslow that his client was free to leave Liverpool this summer if he wanted to. The thinking there was obviously the player's age and that time was running out to cash in.
Real Madrid have since made an offer for the Liverpool skipper and as we predicted at the time of our article last year, it was much lower than you'd expect (not much over £15m). That was rejected by Liverpool and a new offer has followed which is definitely no higher than £20m as things currently stand.
It was reported earlier in the week that Real had cooled their interest in the skipper but this is not true.
Real's transfer consultant Ernesto Bronzetti went on record saying that Liverpool had demanded £58.6m for Gerrard but that it was unacceptable because of the player's age.
Bronzetti said: "The president does not agree with Gerrard because he is 30 and Perez doesn't want to know. Plus Liverpool asked for €70m (£58.6m)."
This was of course more spin and poker playing by the Spanish outfit who are extremely clever at times like this. Today they've been linked with German World Cup star Sami Khedira as an alternative to Gerrard and that's what they want Gerrard and Purslow to hear.
The truth of the matter is that Real are so confident of landing Gerrard that they're not moving on their current offer.
Only the transfer fee and a medical stands in the way of a deal happening. But with Liverpool demanding such a high price, Gerrard has been left in a difficult situation.
If Purslow makes a u–turn on his deal with Gerrard the skipper could be forced into handing a transfer request which is the last thing he wants to do and we simply can't see that happening.
Our source in Madrid said: "Liverpool (Purslow) told Steven that he could leave without problems if he said nice things about Roy Hodgson.
"Real Madrid are aware of that arrangement and know that Christian Purslow cannot now go back. This is why the offer will not be increased. If he does go back, then all sorts of damaging things could be leaked to the press."
Another source told us: "Steve will be texting Purslow furiously when he sees the prices supposedly being asked for him in the papers while Real Madrid will be in his ear winding him up about how difficult and unrealistic Purslow is being.
"Now it's just about Real Madrid ing Purslow in the ass on the price and they can because Purslow tried to play poker with the masters and is now fed."
The only thing that we can see preventing a deal would be the fee but our source in Madrid says nothing will prevent this deal from going through. They insist that Purslow is cornered because he cannot go back on his deal with Gerrard.
If Gerrard leaves, and we firmly believe that he will, he will do so with our blessing. We don't blame him. He's given his career to Liverpool and he's been lied to time and time again.
The best Purslow can hope for is £20m and maybe a player. He's certainly not going to get anything near £60m and at some point he's going to have to explain to Gerrard why things aren't progressing as promised.

Purslow is very much out of his depth at Anfield. He isn't a football CEO, neither was Rick Parry. Jose Angel Sanchez, Real Madrid's exuberant director of marketing, would have been Liverpool FC's CEO had L4 taken control of the club. The way he works is detailed in the following book which is well worth a read. It will really help you understand how Sanchez is a master of football transfers etc. {editor's note – I am sorry but I can't take any of this seriously. He even mentions Sheikh Khalifa being linked with the club, but the only person that linked Khalifa with Liverpool was him! It is just another scam to get people to subscribe to his site and to back up his mates attempt to put together a consortium to take over the club (it is his mate who is the man behind L4). There seems to be a real agenda against Purslow at the moment, and everything is getting blamed on him. If (and I reiterate if because it is not 100% either way still) Gerrard leaves it will be because he WANTS to leave, not because the club are pushing him out of the door. Though in my personal opinion Gerrard should have been sold years ago, he thinks he is bigger than the club. Great player that he is, he is not a great team player, he takes over and shines on the biggest stage but the best players make their team mates shine too. That is why Xavi is the best midfielder in the world bar none and not Gerrard.}

Does anyone else hope Joe Cole ends up without a top club to sign him? It seems most fans of Arsenal/Liverpool/Spurs only want him singed for their side to rub opposing fans noses in the fact that he chose them. Apparently Chelsea are staying quiet but his injuries are worse than is being made clear to the fans and it is likely that he may not play again. Arsenal will sign ozil in january because his price is too high this is how we signed Arshavin. Ozil has already said he is staying with werder bremen but only has a year left on his contract so wenger will sign him for a reduced price in january which will be about 15m.

Bottom line matey is noone knows. It is being played extremly tight. I know for a fact that virtually everyone at Anfield – players, middle management, staff etc has not got a clue other than what Broughton said they other day. I wouldn't believe any rumour concerning the sale unless it appears AFTER the end of this month. What's doing the rounds now is baseless gossip.
Likewise transfers. Nobody knows what Hodgson is going to do or who he is going to buy or sell bar him, Purslow, Dalglish and maybe some of the senior players a little. There are far to many variables. For instance Torres. If he goes we need a class striker, if he stays we have him supported by Pacheco, Dalle Valli and Kuyt.
Once Hodgson has had his training camp and has assessed what he's got (or hasn't got) then you will see moves in the transfer market. We have 15M plus sales and we also have to operate within the 'Homegrown' rules. We have also got to make more use of reserve/academy players so just because big players may leave irt does not mean they will be replaced. A big clue as to how he may think will be the formations he tries out in the next two weeks.
I have two well placed sources. One knows nothing, the other told me what I posted three weeks ago about McGeady going to Villa to replace Milner who is Manchester –bound. He only knew that because McGeady had sacked his agent and was now being handled by the same agent as Carragher in preperation for his move south. Comes to something when your source knows more about another club than his own! But that's how tight the hierarchy are keeping things.

I'm a long time reader, first time post. First of all good work Ed! With regards to the gunners summer transfers I don't have any inside info with agents, the club and all them lies but maybe some common sense. It's pretty clear that a lot of these big name signings aren't really going to happen as much as I would love to see the likes of Ozil, Balotelli, Hazard etc. I hear the same thing most summers and it just doesn't materialise. In my opinion heading out the emirates could be like likes of:
Eduardo– loved by the majority of the arsenal faithful but never recovered from that injury. Rosicky– technically gifted but much of the same with Eduardo, shame. Almunia– for obvious reasons the less said the
better. Fabregas– no one really knows? Clichy– a surprise, I hope not but if a big offer came in and with Gibbs in the wings. Also you never know that could be what laurent koscielny was really bought for like Sagna no one saw that one coming considering all the left footed defenders we have.
This is just my opinion but at the same time I really can't see us shifting five more players in this window.
As for the in's its anyone's guess I'm hoping for strong defensive cover maybe a couple of the following
Mark Schwarzer or
Samir Handanovic Serdar Tasci or CristianZapata Joe Cole (love to see it happen but unlikely maybe off to spurs) Gai Assulin (free as Cole and a good prospect) Conner Wickham (a new one to me but according to several reports the manger is 'desperate' to land him ?)
As I said these are just my opinions and I could well be off the mark. I hope this is posted so I could hear some feedback what do you think Ed? P.s Any Arsenal rumours you got? Cheers mate.

To Liverpool Fans, RH stating hes finding it hard to keep hold of players doesn't include Torres and Gerrard it refers to Lucas and the baby Masch.
This means RH is in need of a defensive midfielder and is keen on porto's fernando reges. Talented young player and shouldnt break the bank to sign especially with the 20–25 mill estimated in a sale of maschto inter.
Like previous seasons liverpool are in need of a winger and its not going to be Joe Cole as he doesn't want to leave london for family reasons.
RH will have a shortist of options but is rumoured to be keen on signing Rafa's target Boltons Chung–Yong Lee.
Also about the sale of the club no one knows whats happening behind the scenes. Rumours coming out that the club will be sold within the week etc are false we won't know anything until the board release it to the press.

According to Frank Leboeuf (quote from ESPN Press Pass), the future of Michael Essien's playing career is very much in doubt. Apparently Chelsea are staying quiet but his injuries are worse than is being made clear to the fans and it is likely that he may not play again. I'm not a chelsea fan but none the less sincerly hope this isn't the case, wish him a recovery and hope to see a fantastic player like Essien playing soon.. however the source seems to be pretty solid.

As many goals as Boyd scored, I don't think it would be hard for a similar type of player to score the number of goals he did. I liked the way big Mehmet and Daly gave defenders a hard time as well as a sht load of bruises. Didn't realise Mehmet was away, but i think Daly would chuck the armband for a go at the Champions.oh well suppose we'll have to put that £20M bid in for Luis Fabiano then

Any Chelsea rumours worth mentioning?
Article today about Lukaku from Anderlecht but don't expect to see him arrive until he's 18. Not sure if it's a buy and loan back or they'll wait.
Other than that I think there's truth to the rumours that the owner is looking to cut back on spending and bring youngsters through. Mikel and Essien will be like new signings.

Lukaku's dad has repeatedly said he will stay in Belgium irrelavant of who comes in for him so he can finish his schooling and make sure his qualificatins are in place before he flies the nest and heads for pastures new.
Good idea in my opinion. he will be 18 1/2 by then and it will be next summer when all his exams are done So it will be then at the earliest that hewill move. Im not saying a deal will not be done now but will be at least 12 months before he physically moves to another team.
Did you read what was said? About waiting until he's 18 an all, e.g. 'but don't expect to see him arrive until he's 18'. Then the editor added a good point about the benefits of signing him up before he's 18. Thanks for adding nothing.

Argyle desperately need 2 more, the top priority a creative centre midfielder, a proven striker. this is pure speculation nothing heard but I would love Jason koumas on a free and Reids sunderland protege Kevin phillips. If those two unlikely i know signed argyle would line up like this.

Completly untrue, grayson has just dismissed speculation by saying "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't aware of McArthur. We know about him, he's a good player, and he's been linked with a few Premier League clubs, but there's no deal in place and we have no intention of putting in a bid for him."

We have 5m to spend, so id imagine it'd be with that money. Only reason some players are up for sale is due to their contracts running out end of season. Out of those, expect miller, mcculloch, papac and poss webster to run theirs down. Anyone else, we don't need to sell unless we get a real good offer for them (wilson 2/3m, bougy 6m+, mcgregor 4m). I think the 2m we're gettin back for thommo when he has only a year left on his contract is good business. Never been the same since his last injury, and has no pace at all. Expect a bid for mcarthur, 1.2m. Eagles 1.5m. The rest of the budget will be spent on ano wide mid, and then it will depend on who leaves and what positions need filled.

Came on here a few weeks backing telling you about Jimmy Bullard being friends with Lee McCulloch and that he'd end up at Rangers and not Celtic. I was laughed at and told Rangers couldn't afford anyone of his quality. In the next few days this story will really develop, with Thomson almost left for England a replacement is needed. John Fleck was spoken about but, he performs better in a wider role. Edu and McCulloch are there but if Bougherra leaves then Lee McCulloch may be even more defensive. Jimmy Bullard will join on loan. Chris Eagles will sign next week and a striker also.

VAN PERSIE is not leaving Arsenal, he has requested a change of number. Either to 9 or 10 depending on whether Eduardo leaves. As the numbers don't have to be forwarded to the FA yet, it will be known in due course.

we are signing nobody of note as i have posted on here for the last 2 seasons.
people should realise how bad the situation is, im hanging on to my now part time job by the skin of my teeth, when season ticket cards are being used for the 3rd succesive season you know how bad things have got, people going on part time hours and even laid off.
the glazers are determined to get there millions every season and if that means taking the so called transfer budget that is what they are going to do.
22,000 season tickets sold, exec boxes and memberships at an all time low, no success will mean only two things, a dwindle in the crowds and the sale of established players.
don'y worry though the glazers will go when there is nothing left to sell, and id rather sit in a half empty stadium then one with thousands of spoilt so called reds.

Some loan news for watford fans.
Henri Lansbury could be returning on a six–month loan deal. He was due to join a premier league club but couldn't be guranteed a first 11 place by the teams interested which Wenger wanted.
Other players watford are interested in bringing in on loan are Ryan Donaldson (a striker currently at newcastle United) and Ryan McGivern (a defender currently at manchester city).

The £5m isn't really £5m for transfer fees, This is money that will probably go towards wages over 2, 3, and 4year contracts for players brought in, so realistically Eagles who will probably be on the top £18k per week, (Plus National insurance which the club pay making it approx £20K) for a 3 year contract lets say, will earn around £2.8Mplus the Transfer Fee (Rumoursed to be around £1.3M) leaves Rangers with £0.8M of that kitty

Probably why the Gers have allowed Thomson to go, as we have good back–up in the middle of the park, and his sale and free'd up wages will cover the Eagles purchase, leaving the remaining (Aledged) £5m to cover two more buys.

Eagles is 90% to sign unless someone if the mould of Bolton comes in – yet even if they do, I still see the CL tempting him to come to Rangers.
the starting 11, will be relativley same, with the departure of Thompson looking set IF a pay–out can be sorted albeit Rangers may see it cheaper holding on to the boy.

The players with Manchester United in North America all look set to stay. Which means no Berbatov leaving (which personally, I'm delighted about, because no matter what anybody says, Berbatov is a true class act), or Wes Brown, or Obertan (although I would have loved to see him go to a decent Premier League club on loan, to get some experience), or even Danny Welbeck. I believe that United's next and last signing of this summer would be Sotiris Ninis. However, with Vidic's situation in the balance, a centre–back like Gary Cahill could be signed to replace him. Considering the defensive disaster of last season, although unlikely, don't rule out a move for Phillipe Lahm.

My understanding of an offer put forward by Chelsea was for a five year contract with (a) the first year continuing at Anderlecht, and (b) a decision taken at the end of the first year as to where the player would be during year two. In the interim, as time allowed he would travel to England to train with the first team squad.

Heard this from someone in the know that Nicky Maynard is due to sign for Leeds United sooner rather than later. The last formalities of the deal are being brokered this week, and Maynard is due for a medical before signing once Grayson and his team return from their Slovakian tour.

Article today about Lukaku from Anderlecht but don't expect to see him arrive until he's 18. Not sure if it's a buy and loan back or they'll wait.
Other than that I think there's truth to the rumours that the owner is looking to cut back on spending and bring youngsters through. Mikel and Essien will be like new signings.

I have got this from a 110% reliable source, a brother of one of the chelsea players (great Guy), i do a lot of business with him. He has told me that Ashley Cole is done at chelsea, he's a gonna and that Kaka is coming over to chelsea, its all been agreed, that's is if morinho can get a player (not sure who) that he is after.
theres word that Torres is wanting to go to chelsea, the only thing that is stopping him is the asking price, chelsea are willing to pay no more than 35mil, liverpool are asking a max of 50 mil. this season its not going to happen. Chelsea are also going to sign centre back, bruno or a argentine player from RM, eziqueliz or something.
Chelsea have also bought a couple of young players. Matic, struridge, kakuta all going to have first team experience.

Hi guys, I am going to start leaving my thoughts here.. I don't know anybody, but I am hoping to speak sense. I am a Newcastle fan btw.
First to Arsenal.. Don't expect AW to sign a Joe Hart, Manuel Neuer or any other keeper under the age of 28. AW wants a veteran keeper who can give him 2–3 top class years before moving on to Wojciech Szczęsny or Vito Mannone who he believes will be the next goalkeeper. Mark Schwarzer was an early favourite, however their is a stumbling block, 4 million stumbling block in fact, Schwarzer wants the move however.
Now to the Joe Cole saga, everybody seems certain they will be going to there club, wether it be Arsenal, West Ham, Spurs or Liverpool. Liverpool can be ruled out, Cole wants London. West Ham, I don't think so, remember you were in a relegation dog fight. Arsenal, no, AW is happy with his midfield, that leaves Tottenham. Redknapp wants him, Cole loves Redknapp, if the wages are right, expect Cole to be playing at White Hart Lane. Again as mentioned, I know nobody, just speaking what i feel.
Ed, I am very keen on knowing who that CB is who is joining the Toon, 2.5 million does give me the hint that it could be Cho Yong–Hyung we have been linked to him previously and his contract does run out in December this season i think, therefore could get him for the 2.5 million. Thoughts ed?

Of course a team like Inter is going to try and keep hold of their best players. At the end of the day Balotelli wants to leave, he's hated by the fans and endures racist chants week in week out, often at stadiums where Inter are not even playing at!! He wants a move away from Italy, and the two Manchester clubs appear to be the interested parties. What do you expect Massimo Morrati to say? Seeing as his professional integrity is at stake, I have no reason to believe that he would lie about this. This week (today and tomorrow to be more precise) is clearly the middle of July and so it is not unreasonable to assume based on the Chairman's comments that non binding bids must be in by no later than tomorrow. Any supposed leaks up to this point as to bidders is likely to be complete ball sheet based on a rehash of previously interested parties. From now on however the process gets very interesting. The key to holding on to Torres is that he be satisfied that the club will soon change hands to owners who will provide meaningful funds to significantly strengthen of the squad. For this reason as well as the fact that the fans deserve to know I believe it is likely that in the coming days we will receive an update from the club or Chairman on the auction process. I wish we could get Aquino, but i think this may be a FM dream (although he was awesome in FM 2009). Not getting my hopes up on theat one. Eagles may come but he is back down south, without signing as Bolton and Owen Coyle are desperate to land him, and I don't think Rangers would win the EPL v SPL battle on that one.
'Davis worth 8–10 m' i almost choked on my frosties when i read that one. although the Celtic fan was a bit harsh on the 'grubby paws' comment, he is right.. If an offer comes in for Davis around £4–5m he will be off, all Rangers players have their price at the moment, the only one that you would have to pay over the odds for is Bougherra.
Hopefully though, Rangers do start signing some players to strengthen the team.
Rino as replacement for Thomson?? could happen, but very that's more hope than expectation in my part. Conway is a diving cheat and I would prefer to see Driver or Eagles as our winger (Where Hearts are getting this £3–5m valuation for this lad i don't know)
Goodwillie is a good player but very similar to Miller and again vastly over priced, we need a big lad up front (rather than a big pussy like lafferty) We could easily afford Daly of Mehmet to tap in the goals we've lost through Boyd.
Again with 'Loan Signings' McCoist & Smith have both said they don't believe bringing in Loan Signings helps (remember Lee Martin anyone) and would prefer to let reserve players have the chance to prove themselves which is fair enough. Although i can see a great benefit to clubs such as Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Barca, Real loaning their top prospects to Rangers or Celtic for a season or two if they are playing champs league every season and playing in a league which is guarenteed to toughen you up. It worked for Gattuso, Arteta, Petrov, Cueller, Gio van Bronkhorst.

That is not true and is a popular western misconception of the practices of Islam. The arab world produces some excellent wines and Arabs are also partial to a decent brandy or scotch. First off – forget all the rubbish about Golf Clubs/Hotels/Bars being block–booked by Arabs in Liverpool. Not happening. I know nothing about what's happening with the players etc. but I DO know about the sale process and it isn't happening in Liverpool because I don't work there.
Secondly – and again believe what you like, I'm past caring – I am directly involved in PART of the process regarding LFC. I know that there have been bids made since the turn of this year. The big bid – the one that is still on the table – will remain open. The value of that bid has decreased because as new deadlines approach for H&G so the price they can ask falls. Hence the open auction "announced" by Broughton. It was ALWAYS an auction once the bank stepped in to control the sale process (back in January).
Third – today has been hectic. Two good bids are in for the club, alongside the longstanding one. The first is from a usual suspect, the second from a consortium. As I've stated since I first posted on here – LFC will have new owners – plural.
Fourth – Hicks is in SERIOUS financial trouble and suffereing from ill health too – even more than is being revealed in the press. This is GOOD news for LFC fans.
And finally – Broughton and Purslow will not be sending each other Xmas cards once they leave the club. That is as much as I can say. If Broughton had been listened to, the club would already have been sold – indeed it had been agreed in principle – just a ratification to proceed. Purslow scuppered that. The potential new owners are still there – the bid is on the table – it just needs the board to back it. Anyone wishing to know why Purslow isn't simply saying yes and ending this whole mess should consider his power games at Anfield and beyond and his links to US buisness interests.
As for me and my work colleagues – overtime galore until the sale is done. It MUST be over by the time the transfer window closes. If not – at least two bidders will walk away and wait for administration – which WILL occur if there is no sale by October 2010. That is a given. Dr X

– How can Purslow scupper the deal? Surely, as Chairman Martin Broughton has 'casting vote'. So, even in the event of a deadlock, his decision is final. Also, if Hicks really is in such a dire financial state, then surely even he would realise that at some point he is going to have to accept a bid – whether he likes it or not. Administration is not an option for him, if he wants to get a half–decent profit out of the deal.
Taking you on your word that you are close to the process, what do you feel the chances are of a deal being concluded before the transfer window closes? Your statement that LFC will have new owners, plural, would suggest that the consortium's bid is the most likely to be accepted..is that right?
Don't owners have to be approved by the FA as 'fit & proper persons'? Even though the test criteria are a farce, wouldn't that mean that we'll soon see papers lodged with the FA to approve any bidder before they sign on the bottom line?
There HAS to be something going on. Broughton has too great a reputation to uphold – he stands to lose too much if he fails in his remit to sell the club.

Don't expect any more Everton signings until January. Moyes' team were superb in the 2nd half of last season and he wants to keep the same squad (except Gosling). Expect Pienaar to stay – as well as Yakubu and Yobo BUT if they are not top 6 at Christmas all three will go and be replaced by the likes of Landon Donovan, Stephane Sessegnon, Nedum Onuoha and Victor Obinna.

To all the LFC fans posting numerous rumors of us signing quality foreign players, please take a note of what i am going to say.
According to the new FIFA Homegrown Rule each premier league club has to field 4 homegrown players in their starting 11 along with registering a squad of 25 players including homegrown players, plus a club could have any no of U21 players in their side but they can also be accounted for the HG rule if they qualify.
In our squad we just have Gerrard, Glenn J and Carra who can be counted as HG and are experienced enough to start every match, we also have some other HG players but they don't have either the quality or the experience to start.
That was the main reason of Roy saying in his interview that he will buy english players. Even to fulfill the rule we have to buy at least 1 HG player and 2 more just in case any of the 4 HG players get injured. So please stop posting lists of players we might buy unless they include 3–4 HG players.
We need strengthening in the following positions and i will name the players that we may have a chance to buy.
LB – Warnock, Bridge, R.Taylor, Olsson(Blkbrn), Konchesky

Just in from a VERY long day with news update..
First off – forget all the rubbish about Golf Clubs/Hotels/Bars being block–booked by Arabs in Liverpool. Not happening. I know nothing about what's happening with the players etc.. but I DO know about the sale process and it isn't happening in Liverpool because I don't work there.
Secondly – and again believe what you like, I'm past caring – I am directly involved in PART of the process regarding LFC. I know that there have been bids made since the turn of this year. The big bid – the one that is still on the table – will remain open. The value of that bid has decreased because as new deadlines approach for H&G so the price they can ask falls. Hence the open auction "announced" by Broughton. It was ALWAYS an auction once the bank stepped in to control the sale process (back in January).
Third – today has been hectic. Two good bids are in for the club, alongside the longstanding one. The first is from a usual suspect, the second from a consortium. As I've stated since I first posted on here – LFC will have new owners – plural.
Fourth – Hicks is in SERIOUS financial trouble and suffereing from ill health too – even more than is being revealed in the press. This is GOOD news for LFC fans.
And finally – Broughton and Purslow will not be sending each other Xmas cards once they leave the club. That is as much as I can say. If Broughton had been listened to, the club would already have been sold – indeed it had been agreed in principle – just a ratification to proceed. Purslow scuppered that. The potential new owners are still there – the bid is on the table – it just needs the board to back it. Anyone wishing to know why Purslow isn't simply saying yes and ending this whole mess should consider his power games at Anfield and beyond and his links to US buisness interests.
As for me and my work colleagues – overtime galore until the sale is done. It MUST be over by the time the transfer window closes. If not – at least two bidders will walk away and wait for administration – which WILL occur if there is no sale by October 2010. That is a given. Dr X

LIVERPOOL NEWS
There will be no announcement on the 15th/16th or 17th or in the near future. Liverpool fans waiting for the 15th and hoping, will have to keep hoping because the reality is simple in the appointment of Roy! BAD TIMES AHEAD FOR LIVERPOOL! There will be no Champions League for at least 3 years and by then Man City, Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal will have more quality through spending and players coming through! Liverpools days have been and gone and Liverpools chances of winning the league again sadly is very slim, i know its harsh but its true! Times change and theres nothing wrong with supporting a mid–table team. Just because Liverpool has been successful does not give us any right to win the league, or to be in the top 4. Alot of Liverpool fans seem to think we belong at the TOP which is not the case, Liverpool belong where they finish at the end of each season.

Im a big Glasgow Rangers fan and can't wait for transfers to start happening, i mean crazy big transfers. Anyway, with celtic trying to fill there team with injury prone unproven money grabbers it makes me wonder why there has been little activity at ibrox until i heard of the chris eagles bid of around 1.5 mill too burnley which i think would be a great piece of business.
Meanwhile scotland has no money to really buy
players. u lot in the premiership are gonna buy everybody according too the guys on this site. I love people who are always hoping for these great signings for there clubs but u need to be realistic guys. Nobody in england will get OZIL or SCHWEINSTEIGER BALOTELLI or SNEIJDER unless ur the ARabs playtoy. Lets be honest, when the arabs get bored at eastlands wots going to happen to man city? There turnover won't cover all there astronomical wages for decent players at best. We shud all follow the germans in the 50+1 rule which would mean all the fans would be majority shareholders stopping the threat of the glazers ever ruining ur club by running up debt they have no intention of paying back.

News coming out of Newcastle is that Hughton will be rewarded for last seasons efforts with a new 2 year deal. Also, money is there too spend, and after confirming the Gosling deal Newcastle will push through for Djalo or Erdinc before the season starts, probably going to cost them about £6million. Also Per Cijan Skjelbred again being mentioned, but the fact Rosenborg are looking for £7 million will put off Newcastle. Juan Albin or Jonathan De Guzman are being mention as frees, and it looks as though De Guzman may join the club on trial next week.
Celtic taking serious look at Alan Smith, but his wage demands of £50,000 look too much.
Also can confirm Newcastle had a significant 7 figure sum turned down last week for Mulumbu of West Brom.

Hi, i currently study at uni in valencia and share a apartment with a girl who's brother plays for real murcia but was on loan at a english premiership team. He said on phone today that fellow team mate Daniel Aquino (seemingly very good player) was to sign for Glasgow Rangers next week. Hercules and Betis were also interested but player has decided to go to Glasgow. This will definately go ahead at some point next week as long as personal terms and medical are passed.

People are spot on about the 15th being the announcement of the takeover. It will be made on the first tee at St Andrews, where Tiger Woods will tell the world that he is the new owner of LFC. He went to Cream one year when the Open was at Birkdale, and thought that Liverpool would be a nice place to settle down and get back on it!

Manchester united are keeping eyes on steven defour, if any other bid is made for him ferguson is keen to match it, if no bid made this summer then they will try in january. Fergie sees him as scholesy's successor.
Although I agree that fergie is looking at him there will will be constant reviews on him untill he gets back to at least his old standard before utd will lodge any bid. Even if another club tries to steal a march and get him before he is back to his best i wud be surprised if utd went and got him after ando and hargreaves have never reached their best again.

Right, why do the preston fans seem to think we're after longergan? he's no better than what we have.
Rumours have been going around we're after loach from watford, or the cardiff keeper, marshall.
Also, Dobbie, DJ, Bannan and Coleman have all been lined up by Holloway as he hopes to keep them from their loans last season. Coleman is wanted for another season loan.
The israeli defender dekel keinan is due for a medical tomorrow so the signing of him should be announced soon.
Hooper is possible as a target, wages will be the easy thing, just the price tag. Although a part–ex may work, Eastham or Almond could go out on loan to gain vital experience.
Expect a few good signings by Ollie as he manipulates the window well, Koren is still a possibility as an incoming player.
Also Michael Bradley of USA seems more likely also now, his poor relationship with his manager could be a factor, a loan deal possible although we will look into a permanent deal.
