birmingham quick off the mark to sign southend united winger hall for 400k. 1) The current ground has a capacity of 32,000. When last in the premier we filled it most games, and Cortese understands that the demand is there to expand the stadium.
2) Due to the location of St Mary's additional policing costs are incurred. Nicola Cortese was looking at alternative solutions to St Mary's in his first year in charge.
3) Southampton City council are looking to re-develop its waterfront areas, and the St Mary's site would be considered beneficial. Re-development would also also go part way to funding any new stadium.
4) Any new stadium build would automatically go to the Liebher empire.
So while St Mary's was designed to be expanded in two phases up to 54,000, it may well be that a new stadium will be built, either without expanding the current stadium, or after part or full expansion of St Mary's.
Certainly I get the feeling that due to location the local council would rather have the stadium elsewhere, but any planning application would probably take years to get approval - lets face it we were trying to get a new stadium for years following the Taylor report, and the Dell being limited to 15,202.
The one thing that is sure is that Nicola Cortese is here to stay, and he has a vision of where he wants Southampton Football Club to be - challenging in the premier league. As much as you doubters disapprove of our belief in our 'small' club, you may well find that in a few years time, you're feeling more than a little envious.Saints average attendance is over 30,000 and we took 45,000 to wembley in jonstones paint trophy and wanting more seats so could easily fill 42,000 but where in eastleigh theres barely any room cant see it happeningJust coz you took 42,000 up to Wembley for a day out doesn't mean they'll all come to see you if you get promoted. Kris Boyd is returning to Championship Football. Strong Rumours from Cardiff suggest that the one time top hitting Scotsman could return back to the league. Cardiff need to bolster their forwards if they hope to push up and Mackay expects Boyd to do this. The only current competition with the bluebirds face is off Dundee United. Allthough Boyd is hoping for a chance to return back to the SPL he would only sign for rangers and no one else. Cardiff are willing to offer an 18 month contract to the scott who terminated his contract with ex-club Eskişehirspor due to them not paying him for a month. As Boyd is only 28 years of age it would seem no danger in offering him this contract and when rangers find them self in a powerful position financially approach for their once loved hit man. Barnsley have been in contact with QPR and Mark Hughes in regards to a loan deal for defender Bradley Orr until the end of the season. Hughes could see this as a good move for Orr who hasn't established himself in the R's first team since the Promotion Campaign last season.

I have my doubts but I have heard that Ched Evans might come to the Welsh Capital and also (still with doubt) Aaron Ramsey might confirm a loan deal with Cardiff in February.
Strong rumour that another offer has been made (and possibly accepted) for Craig Noone. Also Jamie Mackie is said to be having a medical with Cardiff sometime early in the week. Malky is also looking at, Aaron Gunnarsson's mate, Gudmunsson (Icelandic international) to get on a free transfer.
