Hi S, Goatman here. I think ManU need a flair player that can pick open centre backs, Valencia was bought to get crosses in, different type of player. And they need a set piece taker. If they buy Douglas Costa it's for the future, and they might have a snap at David Silva. My money's on a suprise bid for Ronhinho, if he can be prized away from Saudi Arabia Fc. SAF WILL NOT buy Robben, he took the mick out of Arjen for being a coward, in public.
I think SAF isn't stupid, and he'll be happy to hold onto his transfer kitty until the market settles. 80mill now will be worth 140mill when all the 'lets buy success (and ruin football)' teams put their wallets away and prices go down.
Having said that, a cheeky deal for a RM/RW wouldn't surprise me. Lennon might not be a bad punt.

Norwich news:
Having already conducted alot of business this summer, Norwich will look to sell a few players. First out will be midfielder Darel Russel to either Preston (£400k) or Burnley (£500k).
This departure will allow Norwich to complete the signings of Goran Maric and Jens Askou on free transfers.
Expect Jamie Cureton to leave for around £200k, with Barnsley and former club Bristol Rovers leading the interest.
If Cureton does go, Norwich will be in the market for a further striker, although no decisions have been made on whom that will be yet.
One or two Man Utd youth players have been lined up for prospective loan moves as well, following the recent friendly match. Likelihood is that this will be a defender and a midfielder, although Gunn may try and persuade his former manager to loan him a pacy striker if he's unable to find a suitable one before the close of the transfer window.

As I stated yesterday (and which was not published boo–boo, hiss–hiss) , Arbeloa is definately Madrid bound and Madrid wanted him because they want more Spanish players and less foreigners ready for UEFAs future new rulings. As I also said in my unpublished thoughts of yesterday, Madrid's President has ordered that the first team squad is to be trimmed down to 25 players maximum by season's start and that all transfers–in from here–on in are to be over–whelmingly Spanish and all out foriegn. 6 non–Spanish Madrid players will leave in the next fortnight or so including RvN, Metzelder, Heinze & Huntelaar to name but a few. There's more a lot more fact than rumour to Huntelaar being Prem bound.

Some wizard on this site has suggested that Flash 'arry will outbid Villa for Delph if they don't let him have Ash. Young. What a plank!! No club outbids another club because they won't sell a player to them. It's called economic suicide. Saying that 'Arry might just do that. I wonder what colour shirts Spurs are going to wear this coming season? Probably a nice shade of blue with a crescent moon and star on the chest. Who said Portsmouth reserves? Living in the south, I can't believe the number of pathetic rumours the Spurs fans are coming up with at present. Why do they think 'Arry will sell some of their better players? Why do they believe that clubs will sell their stars to Spurs when they are better placed to achieve Europe? It all seams to be forlorn hope that Spurs are going to make the top 4, when we all know that 5 clubs have a chance of top 4 and the rest are picking up the scraps that are being thrown away.

I was at the Northampton Wednesday friendly last night and there were three Notts forest people all in tracksuits and with notepads, I can only imagine that they were scouts. I would probably suggest that they were monitering Danny Jackman or Akinfenwa. As a Wednesday fan I doubt they looking at any Wednesday players as Laws has repeatedly told of his wish to keep everyone one of his squad.
STOKE CITY RUMOURS
Stoke will offload goalkeeper Steve Simonsen to Cardiff City for a fee around £400000, they will then buy Posh keeper Joe Lewis for around 1.5 million. City will also this week complete the signing of Dean Ashton from West Ham, full back Alan Hutton from Spurs. Stoke will make a renewed attempt to sign Joe Ledley from Cardiff for around 6 million, failing this they will bring in Pompeys John Utaka.
To leave the Brit this summer will be Simonsen to Cardiff, Olofinjana to Monaco, Andrew Griffin not sure where, Leon Cort to Hull, Andrew Davies to Leicester and Richard Cresswell to Walsall, with only Cort, Simonsen, Davies and Olofinjana fetching any fee

I have heard that with Arbeloa heading to Madrid, Liverpool and Real are still in talks over Alonso and possibly Sergio Ramos. This deal could be finalized within the next week. Liverpool will be looking to get Ramos with both Arbeloa and Dossena heading for the door. Silva is also still a target, but he won't be signed during this transfer period.
Can people stop whining that Arsene has sold 4th place! The man has a plan. Note the slowly dwindling African contingent at the Emirates? Adebayor, Toure and Eboue all sold for a reason people! Expect a ball winning midfielder and possibly a centre back and that's it. We have no problems scoring goals, just conceding them!

Rafa Benitez has held talks with 3 players he feels that would complete the jigsaw and provide the final title push for next season. The players have agreed personal terms and are in the process of finalising the contracts. The players are George, Zippy and Bungle. George will cover as back up to Reina, Zippy will fill in for Torres and Bungle will replace the outgoing Arbeloa.
However, there has been a serious doubt over signing Zippy, after he was seen leaving the nearby Arkles pub, looking decidely worse for wear after downing several pints of carlsberg, puffing away on a silk cut, with a bird in tow.
Needless to say, rafa is fuming, and looks to pull the plug. Latest reports suggest he will pull the plug on zippy, and look to sign Bagpuss instead. .
Plymouth Argyle are looking to take Danny Welbeck from Man United soon on a season loan with a view to call back, this is aiding the £400k move for Rory Fallon

No concrete facts here, just my opinion:
According to lots of sources, it looks like Toure will be heading to City. Wenger has been quoted as saying he has 7 centre backs already so it would seem that perhaps finding a direct replacement is not in his immediate thoughts right now.
However. .
2 of them are Silvestre and Senderos. Silvestre is past it really, but could be useful to keep around to help the young defenders develop and improve. Personally I think Senderos gets a bit of stick considering he was part of a defensive unit that made a record breaking run of 10 games with a clean–sheet in the Champions League, but I still think he may leave as well.
That means that Wenger is probably still looking to strengthen in that area and I have read and heard in a few places now that Arsenal are interested in a well respected Italian player and Wenger himself said to keep an eye out over the next 24 hours. Based on these thoughts and other rumours over the last few years this is what I think may happen at the Emirates this season:

Chiellini – could be the Italian? – est. £16m
Hangeland – £12m

De Rossi – again could be the Italian mentioned – £15m
Senna – short term to allow Randall, Lansbury et al to develop – £6m

Due to the fact that Real need to sell to buy more players, expect a lot of their unwanted squad members to be sold off on the cheap as the transfer window closes. If this is the case, it wouldn't surprise me if Wenger made a cheeky bid for the following:
Gago – £8m
Sneijder – £10m
Of course, judging by the last few seasons Wenger will probably leave it to the last minute before making any purchases in an attempt to drive the price down. Whilst this is a sensible thing to do in order to ensure the long term stability of the club, it doesn't have put the fear of god into all Arsenal fans, especially as first XI players seem to be leaving left, right and centre.
Maybe, just maybe, this might be the season that Wenger surprises us all.

The new board want to attract more fans to the club so want to make 1 maybe 2 big money signings to boost attendances. The first is a million pound bid for Wigan's Caleb Folan as sturrock wants another big forward. After Saxton's injury, Sturrock may also target Birmingham's Colin Doyle, as he is now third choice at Brum behind Hart and Taylor. David Gray will also sign for £300k at the end of the week.

In addition McEnough's agent Tony Finnigan is pushing his luck in terms of wages & length of contract. At nearly 28 years of age, this is likely to be McAnuff's final decent pay day. From what has been heard he wants a 4 year deal at £12000 per week! Lot of money for a hit & miss player with a poor attitude & certainly not the brightest individual!

First of all to the guy who said he seen peter lovenkrads at ross hall hospital, rangers have a state of the art multi million pound training ground called murray park and all the new signings get their medicals there.
The medical at Ross Hall (which is where most of the Old Firm recruits go) is for insurance purposes and therefore is conducted by an independent consultant. The club medical is seperate.
Former Glenavon and Birmingham right–back Michael McKerr has signed a one year deal with oldham. If this goes well he could sign for rangers but if it does not turn out well he may return to glenavon where he had a trial this summer.

Hiya all, I am a gooner for life (cant help it!!!), I must say that I was not sorry to see Adebayor go and for 25m its a cracking deal, although I was a little dissappointed in Kolo going. I can see what he is thinking(apart from that scheming slimy agent of his – visions of Cashley again). Kolo has set up probably the last contract of his career (32yrs old in 4 years time) and Arsenal get a decent fee of around 14m – 16m depending on which paper/news you read, he also has been lacking pace and leadership in the last year. Around 40m for 2 players is great but I am worried that we still lack in the midfield,especially in the DM area. The striker front would be handy if we aqquired Huntelaar to play with R.V.P but Milan look to be hovering there. I think that Flamini would be the best answer but find it hard to see if Wenger would bid for him. Any gooners out there have a response?? I hope that this season is really open and lots of clubs are involved in the fight for the title. Man City think they will break the top four but I think it will be hard for the first couple of seasons.
