One forward linked heavily with Liverpool for the January window is Gary Hooper. The Essex forward with a price tag of between £5-8m currently playing his football for Parkhead, Glasgow side Celtic has 47 goals in 72 appearances since signing for the Bhoys so there is no doubt in my mind that Hooper is a prolific goalscorer, somethig we here at Anfield are in desperate need of. A bargain buy in the making? I think so.

29 year old Dutch international Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is another player linked with Liverpool for January. The Ductch marksman has made a grand total of 290 senior appearences for 8 different clubs in a career spanning ten years, that along with the fact he's scored 190 goals in those 290 appearences are factors that probably make Rodgers want to sign Huntelaar. His emmaculate 0.7 goal-to-game ratio mean he averages better than a goal every two games in his club career meaning this guy really is a Klaas lad. At 29, Huntelaar is at the peak of his career, but in his last year of his contract with Schalke 04. The former Real Madrid and AC Milan man is to undergo contract talks with the German club and if an agreement cannot be reached by December, Schalke will be forced to cash in on the experienced Dutch international or allow clubs to make pre-contractial agreements with players (both of which would suit the reds).

Now a midfield man that Liverpool have been chasing for nearly half a decade. I am of course talking about former Galtasary captain and current Athletico Madrid maestro Arda Turan. The Turk has recently been pictured online, posing in a Reds' shirt. This could be one of two scenarios: scenario a) Turan is showing support for a close friend, on loan superstar Nuri Sahin (that's the name and number on the back of the shirt he's posing in) or scenario b) Turan is on his way from the Spanish capital to sunny Liverpool, and by God I hope so. He hasn't exactly been prolific for Athletico (5 goals in 38 appearances) but as the Captain of Galtasary the 25 year old scored 45 in 194 from midfield, some of which came when Turan played on the left wing.

Christian Erikson. A 20 year old play maker currently of Ajax in Holland. Some describe him as a different class, and he has admitted he loves the English game. However when Manchester City came calling for him to sign on the dotted line, he pledged his future to the team that made him. Fantastic talent and respectable loyalty, it's a massive shame but don't expect a deal to happen anytime soon.

Young London defender James Tomkins has been linked to Anfield as a makeweight in any permanent deal for Andy Carroll. Presumably, West Ham would have to pay £12m at least along with Tomkins to meet our original £18m valuation of Big Andy. With two very good, but injury prone centre backs Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel, some youthful cover wouldn't go amiss with only Coates and Wilson under the age of 25 with a competetive appearance as Wisdom seems to be adapting to a full back role.

On the other side of that coin is going for a more experienced defensive target: David Lugano from PSG. The vetran Uragyuan defender is rumoured to be unhappy in the French capital and our mersyside heroes would definitely be stronger at the back with the inclusion of another Uragyuan national.

Going back to the front men, another target that Rodgers' is rumoured to be thinking about looking into is Chelsea hitman Daniel Sturridge. The former Manchester City man is seemingly out of favour in West London under Di Matteo and could be offloaded from the Italian's renovationan project in january to fund moves for either Karim Benzema, Radamel Falcao or Edinson Cavani. Rodgers' could look to pounce as Sturridge has shown great pottential along with versitilty, being ale to adapt and play out wide on the right.

Another target that is pretty much a forgon conclusion is Demba Ba. The Newcastle man seems fairly happy on Tyneside, now on form and banging n the goals for fun and even with the release clause in his contract I highly doubt that Newcastle will sell a man on form to a champions league spot rival. So it's fair to say that suporters can forget and move for the 27 year old Senegal international.

Penultimately is young Dutch speedster Jurgen Locadia who plays for PSV Eindhoven in Holland. The 18 year old dubbed "wonderkid" was watched by Liverpool scouts as he banged in an 11 minute hat-trick against VVV-Venlo in the Eridivese. Not much to go off I know, but he has a relatively low price tag: in the region of £2-6m.

At long last, a target that seems like a move highly likely is Aston Villa striker Darren Bent. After a rift with new manager Paul Lambert, Darren Bent has recently been dropped from the starting XI, being replaced by new signing Christian Benteke. 28 year old England international Bent has made a total of 356 senior appearances for five different clubs, most of which in the premier league, and scored 149 goals, giving him a goal-to-game ratio of just over one every three games in total. Aston Villa's record £24m signing probably won't ome cheap, but there is an inclination that any deal set to be done would include flop Stewart Downing going the other way.

That's everything I know along with some opinion, any input from the Ed's would be great and please read through this guys, it took me ages to write, keeping you in the know:

RedMistRising {Ed001's Note - Turan is just wearing it because he is a Liverpool fan, not because of interest.}

You can have Benty for £20m. We don't want Downing, he is rubbish & after what he did to us last time , he can rot in hell - besides Liverpool still owe us £10m from that deal! so I doubt we want to be owed anymore cash!

UpTheVilla42

"What he did to us"...what, leave for a bigger club? id take him back in an instant!

So liverpool will go from no strikers to 10, spending £200million in the process?

"I highly doubt that Newcastle will sell a man on form to a champions league spot rival" this line made laugh everton got more chance of champions league footie

I think liverpool will obviously sell carroll despite peoples opnions of him hes being playing really well at west ham and they payed 35 million. So wont let him go less than 18 million.Bent will fight back his first team place.Sturridge is very likely especially with him being unhappy.I see them getting cheaper than expected due to him having high wages.

I think a big clear out will happen with 4-5 faces coming in.West ham will activate there
18 million buy clause in the loan with view to pernament clause.I see Agger or Glen johnson going.Expect some good buys with good youth with loads of potential

Being prolific in Scotland doesn't make Hooper a good player. Remember Kris Boyd/Scott McDonald/Giorgios Samaras?

To the person that says playing for scotland means he isnt a good player he has scored 10 goals in europe played against the best teams in the work and did really well celtic are 1 of the best and biggest supported teams in the world and if he has any ambition he wouldnt be going to liverpool cause there is no chance os winning trophies you would be going to a team like man united or man city

Interesting post,..but can you elaborate a bit more!

LLHB MOT

Funny as you say Sturridge is joining but he won't drop from a Champions League winning team to a wannabe Europa League side like Liverpool.
Enjoy Theo Walcott & maybe he can help you run further away from the Champions League as that is the only thing he can do!

York City will test Port Vale by approaching the administration stricking club in a double move for Tom Pope and Jennyson Myrie Williams. York are looking to replace injured Michael Coulson and launch a full scale attack on the top of the table.

Very very unbelievable,as Vale will be out of admin in the next three weeks

Not a chance, vale will soon be the richest team in league 2

Myrie Williams will not go to York. Massive step down.

Why would they want to go to york? As much chance as Shawcross getting another england cap

Port vale now out of admin

ive heard from some who works for the club that stevenage have 2 spainish players on trail there ment to be very skillfull and quick

Mata and Silva? {Ed003's Note - errrrmm? }

Not sure on the spanish guys but there is a swedish youngster coming back to stevenage on sunday. that will be his second trial as he impressed first time round

Dani Lopez was on trial about 2 months ago and ended up signing and is part of first team now. There could be more though. Leon Hunter, Stevenages head of recruitment had been very pro active in giving lots of trials to young players, most are never heard from again but some (Lopez & Swedish Lad) are called back

Carl Fletcher will become the next Palace boss. Ian Holloway will move back to Plymouth to finish the job he started.

Why would Ian holloway drop down to league 2? Can't see the sense in that

Heard that too!

Carl fletcher is heading to c.palace by the looks of things but be serious hollaway isnt comin back but ive heard jim magilton wants the job if it comes about.

Doubt ollie would want to drop 2 leagues to manage us when he's doing a decent job up at Blackpool

He made promises to the argyle fans and never fulfilled them. he wants to complete the job and get them to the prem

Neil Warnock will be the next Argyle manager . The trouble in the match against Sheffield was the last straw for him and he is activley seeking a way out with his soliciters . He has a house in the Westcountry and wants to finish the job he started over ten years ago .

Wouldnt miss fletcher how about friio coughlan and larrieu!

Wouldn't get warnock/holloway and doubt very much that magilton would come to us either....plus i don't beleive fletcher is going to palace so all the previous comments and mine are just ramblings

I couldnt care if fletcher leaves, hes a good player and luckily he wont play again but holloway made a promise and he should come back and get argyle back where they belong

He has now moved to plymouth, its been made official

Who has moved to plymouth

Where has it been made official ?

Palace want holloway

Def looks like hollaway heading to c.palace if ur a pilgrim then u no how it can affect the team when he leaves worrying times for blackpool pafc4life

I hope ollie doesnt go to palace. They will sell Zaha just like they did clyne and they will be an average championship side with a rubbish old ground and no money.

I do believe warnock will end his mangerial career at plymouth and he has said that in the past while also think holloway will return but will probs have to wait 10 years for that to happen and to the guy who said he doubts magilton would go the argyle remember he has applied to be manager in the past

Mick McCarthy getting the Ipswich Town job is not a done deal yet.Ipswich have been given permission to talk to Ian Holloway who is also keen on the job and is talking with Ipswich today.
It is now a straight fight between the two for the job with McCarthy still strong favourite.

It is quite obvious that it won't be Holloway as every body knows you need permission from the club that is employing him.and as it hasn't been on sky sports then let's forget it.

Ipswich have spoke to Blackpool and agreed to pay the compensation (around £450.000) which Holloway has written into his get-out contract if he wants to leave. And by all accounts he wants to leave.
Holloway famously said "he would walk to Ipswich to be their manager" {Ed003's Note - He has no such 'get out clause' he is on a 12 month rolling contract so that would need paying off,I was on the understanding his salary is around the 400k mark plus bonuses.}

Wolves fan on hearing mick mccarthy looks to be your next manager i think he would stabilise you but i doubt he would have the success in the champ as before mick was a good man for wolves but i felt he was a little outdated at the end his gung ho attitude seemed to alienate the wolves fans but saying that im sure he would always get a good receotion at the mol all in all i think he will do well for you

Some people are born persons, Holloway will not want the Binners Job

I see their is quite a few rumours about a potential takeover of Swindon Town by a Saudi Billionaire, where are people hearing or getting this infro from, haven't seen or heard anything about it myself?

Good luck to the boys tonight , hope they pull it off or give them {villa} a good game.. could it be a Wigan & Stoke all over again.

This is true it will happen next march

Heard they are giving PDC a transfer kitty of £20,000,000 to spend in January to tie him over until they are in

This is absolutely 100% true, William Patey is acting on behalf of Mohammed Hussein Al Amoudi, he is there to see what is involved in terms of cost, commercial opportunities but more importantly broker the purchase of land by the M4 junction 16, this will be a Ricoh style arena, with concert facilities casion hotel and conference facilities all of which the town are lacking. They will then build houses around the area, so whilst the investment is rumoured to be over 100 million they will recoup this money. William Patey is a very skilled negotiater and should be able to get traction with the council where others have failed. This will happen, but the investment will not be released until SWP has a clearer picture, that is why PDC has not walked, he is aware of the investment and now knows that he could be part of a very special period in the clubs history.

Is he putting any money in towards the transfers? And when is the takeover expecting to happen?

How much debt is swindon town carrying, does it run into millions? if they are a black hole for finances then i am afraid millionaires won't invest to loose money. It sounds like a nice dream.

We don't want someone throwing money at the manager, that's not our style as swindon fans we always go through the mill all we want us a stable club which is financially stable. What happens when he gets bored of his toy? I just hope he wants to have a football club rather than all the houses, casinos, hotels he wants to build. Of course we don't know if this is true yet

He's putting in 25 million for January but isn't expected in til end of season where he will then give PDC a 50 million to spend

My mate knows someone on the board at town this will happen sometime early next year with new stadium and a five year plan to get into premier league and europe. investor is mohammed al moudy 61st richest person in the world

Redknapp is set to turn down the Blackburn job. He is reported to be unhappy with the managerial structure at Rovers and the transfer limitations.

As the saga drags, Blackburn are considering appointing Peter Reid until the end of the season

Blackburn are a sinking ship cannot ever see them returning to premier league

According to Redknapp on BBCsport he knows nothing about the blackburn job. and certainly hasnt had talks with them and as no interest even if approached.Hes only managed london and south coast clubs. his nxt job will also be in the south.

Arry, wouldnt go anywhere that he could not spend shedloads of cash,he would get found out,bet keane would be alot better, you reap what you sow,bye bye to the big time blackburn, arf arf.

Blackburn are badly run

He was never going to go to one of the smallest championship clubs maybe one of the bigger boys

swindon town will announce a massive takeover at the club with andrew black taking a backseat and saudi billionaire and petrolium tycoon Mohammed Al Amoudi taking over.

Fit and Proper person test would have to be done first, nothing in the local press as yet, good if it is true, club needs investment to progress ground improvements etc

Agreed, not heard anything - but I hope it's true!

Josh McStay.
